Positively Records - Great, varied selection

Positively Records

Positively Records absolutely lived up to its name. I'm visiting from California and stopped in…read moretoday with my son, and we were immediately struck by the great vibe of the shop and the genuinely positive people running it. Super welcoming, no pretension, just real love for music. The clientele was friendly too. We ended up having some great conversations with other diggers about what we were flipping through, which always makes a record store visit memorable. The selection was better than I anticipated, with a really solid mix of new and used records, and the prices were more than fair. Highlight of the visit: scoring a near-mint copy of the 1977 first pressing of Foreigner. Couldn't have been more fitting to buy it today, with "Cold As Ice" on the tracklist and a windchill of -8 outside, it felt meant to be. If you're anywhere near Levittown, PA and love records, Positively Records is 100% worth the stop. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.

They still have a great selection of many different music styles. I was able to find a few great hard to find titles. If you can't find parking right outside the store, there's a big lot across the street at the supermarket. It's worth the visit to support this small business!

The name is certainly fitting, considering the madness of how much supply is here. Boxes stacked…read moreupon boxes stacked upon boxes everywhere you turn. There are sooooooo many comic books scattered around that I'm pretty sure Wade doesn't even know what he has. Sure, sifting through all that inventory can be overwhelming, but that's part of the fun. Each trip is different as the staff uncovers and prices additional stock from the shipments of yesterday (and yesteryear). So, it's like a race against time to see what gems you can find before they even realize what they have! Allow yourself plenty of time, though, because it is very easy to get lost for hours as you comb through the bins and boxes of eras and stories gone by. But that's why I love it. Unfortunately, there are some things I wish they could do better... like with their pricing, which isn't always consistent. Some books aren't labeled or in a designated price box. So then you're left up to the discretion of whoever works the cash register that day to determine what they want to charge for it. I also used to be a big fan of their VIP program, which, for $15, offered some discount on almost everything in the store. Plus, a $10 credit on your birthday month. So it paid for itself and then some. But as I recently learned in my last few visits, this isn't always the case. It's really left up to the discretion of whoever is working the register that day whether or not they want to honor it. ‍ But the staff is still very polite and helpful and I do enjoy coming here. It's one of the better comic stores in the region and has been that way for years. If you're in the area, check it out!

I'm so glad I found this treasure of a store so close to home! I had to replace a 20-year-old…read morehigh-end (Revel) subwoofer and they had the perfect units to not only replace it but improve upon it at a very modest cost. I was amazed at the wide range of equipment available, all organized by price range in five dedicated listening rooms. Sometimes they get deals from manufacturers that are truly stunning! Most recently I wanted to upgrade an old turntable and was able to try out units over a wide range of price points, until I tried an Technics SL-1200G (Grand Class) in the high-end room. Nice but expensive and very heavy (40 lbs). Nick G. walked me through all the various options and I ended up ordering the black-finish version (SL-1210G). When placing the order, Nick noted that he lived very near my house and offered to drop off the new unit once it was in stock and set-up. But a few days later I got a call that the unit was back-ordered and could take over a month to arrive. So he offered to drop off their demonstration unit at my house in the meantime! Three weeks later, the SL-1210G arrived and Nick took care of dropping off the new one and picking up their unit. Now that is amazing service!

I would give this store negative stars. All these obviously FAKE 5 star reviews recently need to be…read morebroken down just by this. I worked at the FYE in Oxford Valley Mall, Langhorne, and this was one of the worst job experiences I've ever had in my 10+ years of working. The manager, Sarah, created a toxic and unprofessional environment where employees were disrespected on a regular basis. For example, Sarah openly called a customer "retarded" in front of others; behavior that is completely inappropriate for anyone, especially a manager. She also forced an underage employee to complete her required harassment training for her, instead of doing it herself.(This training takes at least an 1hr) On top of that, Sarah regularly engaged in inappropriate conversations with underage employees, which is considered sexual harassment. Most of her staff were minors at the time, which makes this even more serious. (I was not a minor which is why I am speaking up) Sarah would also constantly threaten an underage employee with autism, telling him she was going to fire him or take away all of his hours simply because she didn't like him. She would say she planned to give his hours to someone else, but then the next week she would suddenly decide she hated that other person and took all their hours away too, essentially firing them, only to hand the hours back to the autistic employee she had been threatening before. This type of behavior was manipulative, cruel, and unprofessional. Beyond this, Sarah has committed multiple illegal acts while working at this company, including employee discount fraud. Even the people in the mall and inside the company do not like her. The higher-ups are well aware of her behavior, but instead of firing her, they continue to protect her because they don't want to pay her unemployment. In the meantime, they sweep all of her harassment, sexual harassment, and misconduct under the rug for the past 3+ years. To make it worse, instead of holding her accountable, they chose to hire someone else who, from what I've heard, acts just like her. I won't judge that person since I haven't worked with them and have quit for my own mental sanity, but I fully reject the fact that Sarah is still allowed to stay after years of treating people this way. When issues were brought up, instead of solving them, Sarah brushed them off or blamed others. She frequently talked down to employees and created a hostile atmosphere that made people dread coming to work. Which is also why they have changed employees very frequently. If they aren't fired for no reason they left because of her. This job could have been a simple retail position, but Sarah's lack of professionalism, inappropriate behavior, illegal actions, and the higher-ups' refusal to address it all made it unbearable. I would never recommend working at this FYE location to anyone. (ESPECIALLY MINORS) I have sooo much more to say about Sarah's disrespect but I'll leave at this.

Absolutely awful customer service by MANAGER NAMED DANIELLE…read more This has been my second terrible encounter with this woman - who seems to be the same person others have described as I'm looking at previous reviews. First, she left a new employee (who was a sweet heart) alone in the store. When something rang up incorrectly the new employee apologized and said she would try to get ahold of the manager to fix it. She called and texted multiple times with no response. When the manager eventually came back over 15 minutes later, she looked high, she could barely keep her eyes open. She then told me that the item was marketing incorrectly, but assured me "this is actually a better deal it rang up cheaper than it was suppose to". It rang up for 5 dollars- it was supposed to be buy one get one FREE. She insisted that $5 was a better deal than zero dollars. She then tried to tell me to "just go get another one and it will be free" I said I don't want another one. I want the items I brought to the register for the price that they are marked. She eventually called a higher up, who of course did the right thing and told her it should be free. The original cashier apologized profusely, verified with me that the sticker was the color I thought it was and that the signs all over the store say that items with those stickers are buy one get one. Another employee who walked in as this was occurring also said yes, of course it should be free. Yes, that sticker is yellow. Yes the signs do say yellow stickers are buy one get one free. DANIELLE seemed to be the only one on a power trip who doesn't understand that free is a better deal than $5. As I'm finishing up, thanking my original cashier and telling her good luck with her training and I start to walk out, I get halfway to the door and this Danielle woman YELLS across the store "you clearly never worked in retail" - as if that's an insult, but that aside, any one who has worked in retail knows that if something is marked wrong by the store- the store eats that cost- not the customer. Regardless of that, a manager yelling insults at a customer as they're leaving is absolutely unacceptable. Gross behavior.
