This was a great experience. Fusion is wonderful, as is Lisa Lee's previous restaurant creation, Umi Sake. Like US, you can expect great service and great food. The difference, here, is that in addition to the pan-Asian menu and the very extensive sushi roll menu, you also end up with some very interesting American favorites. Want a philly cheesesteak? Well, they have them. Chicken sandwich? Yep, have those, too! But the name tells you what they can do. Don't expect anything typically American to necessarily be normal. There is an appetizer of nachos and cheese, except it's actually called "CRABBY NACHOS" and it is a layer of chips, covered in a complete layer of delicious crab meat, and then smothered with melted cheeses. I'm pretty sure there was some old bay in the cheese melt, too. They were amazing. I added a photo tot he photo gallery if you want an idea of the deliciousness of it. The sushi roll we ordered (San Diego roll) was A+. The unagi was spot-on, with less of the fatty side than most sushi joints in the area. Finally, the chicken and broccoli I got as my main course was so big that I had to take 3/4 of it home - no way to fit anymore in after eating half the crabby nachos and two pieces of eel. My husband and I ate here tonight with another couple. The food was good. The service was average. The server started clearing our table while we were still seated. She spilled soy sauce all over the floor. It splattered all over my shoes, my legs, my dress, and my sweater. All she did was give me a dry paper towel. I said to her that I needed a wet cloth. So she handed me the wet cloth she was using on the floor. She did manage to say I'm sorry. Given the extent of the spill and the amount of soy sauce on me and my clothing and shoes, I would've thought they might've done something more than just a dry paper towel, a cleaning cloth, and a weak apology. read more

I came here on my birthday because I wanted to get some sushi, and red Thai curry. The service was fine, nothing to complain about there, and the sushi was mediocre. I've definitely had better, but its difficult to mess up simple sushi rolls. The curry is when everything started to go wrong. To preface, I asked for my curry extra spicy, thinking that this would mean they would add in extra curry paste, like a previous restaurant I had been to. When I received the dish I was immediately greeted by a watery mess that smelt of red pepper flakes. The salmon that I ordered with, was overcooked and dry and sat in a pool of red water, which I can only assume was their attempt at curry. You see, Thai curry is made with several key ingredients to give it its distinct flavor. Those being: lime, cilantro, curry paste, and coconut milk. None of these ingredients were present in the dish, and from the lack of flavor entirely I'm guessing the chef has never seen any of these ingredients their whole life! The vegetables served in my curry were exactly the same as the vegetables from everyone else's dishes, which leads me to believe that the restaurant just cooks generic "Asian" vegetables and puts them into every single dish thinking no one will be able to tell the difference, or realize that other Asian cuisine has other vegetables. To describe the weak hint of flavor that my dish did possess it was like drinking dyed water, that had a ton of red pepper flakes in it. I guess it was my fault for asking for extra spicy, because these chefs are so unskilled or just don't care about food, so when someone asks for extra spicy they just dump an entire bottle of red pepper flakes into boiling water and charge you $10 for it. I'm guessing the reason for the lack of authenticity in my dish is because this restaurant's main customer base consists of white boomers in their 50s who have probably never even seen an Asian person outside of this restaurant and can't tell the difference between good Asian cuisine and the phoned in lazy garbage that this place serves on a nightly basis. This restaurant actually made me so angry that, I decided to make red Thai curry myself for the first time ever in my home kitchen. I am by no means an experienced chef, and I managed to actually purchase the right ingredients so, I would say my dish was 100 times better than theirs but 100 times 0 is still 0. The fish in our sushi was lukewarm, the rolls were falling apart, and there was a noticeable lack of effort in the presentation. Servers were brusque and inattentive. This is my new favorite takeout place. I tried it for the first time at work when we ordered takeout from this place and I loved it so much that the next day, I dined in with my friends and have ordered take out many times from here. This place is a bit far from where I live but it's absolutely worth the 30-35 mins drive. I've mostly ordered Thai food from here but I honestly think it's the best Thai food I've ever had. The taste is delicious and balanced and there's no strong scent either. The portions are huge for one person and I always have enough leftover for another meal. The only thing I would want is to be able to adjust the spiciness level, I love really spicy food and although the food is well seasoned, I want it to be even spicier. I would like to add that this place actually made me like sushi. I absolutely do not like raw fish at all, but this place changed that. My friends had ordered sushi and they kept praising it, so I tried it and it's delicious, to say the least. Sushi isn't the first thing I'll order when I come here but I wouldn't mind ordering it. And not just the food but the service is great as well, all the employees are really nice and, they're fast and efficient. geez, I thought I wrote a review of this place ages ago. We go here frequently and LOVE it! The signature rolls are our favorite "go-to" but there are many other items on the menu that are terrific: Fusion Fried Shrimp, Spring Rolls, Lettuce Wraps, Pad Thai, and Rice Bowls. I don't eat raw fish so I can't comment on the "real" sushi, but this place is always packed and other diners seem more than happy with the food. I have not posted a negative review since the onset of the pandemic. It is not in my nature to "ding" businesses that are struggling to survive. With that in mind, I think management needs to hear about our recent experience and if there is a genuine response, I will delete this review. Fusion used to be the most friendly and welcoming restaurant. From the moment you walked in, you felt comfortable and excited about the good food to come. We have been to lunch twice now with the reopening of inside dining and both times we were made to feel as if we carried leprosy in with us. I would even describe the service as hostile. We will not be back under such an uncomfortable environment. We were also disappointed with the crab dynamite roll which used to be delicious and now seems to be a reheat of a stale tempura shrimp inside. I have frequented Yelp for many years, and have never felt the need to write a review, even when I didn't think the food or service was good. I ordered from Fusion today for the first time, and I feel compelled to write this review. Without a doubt, and without any exaggeration, this was the worst sushi I've had, ever. I eat sushi from other places about 5 times a month. The tuna nigiri at Fusion was oxidized to such an extent, it was uniformly grey throughout, without even a spec of red color. In fact, I originally thought it was a different fish species. This sushi had to have been left out for days. The rest of the other nigiri of the 'Sushi Deluxe' looked okay, however, the taste was markedly off. I would expect this is what gas station sushi tastes like. This place makes Wegmans sushi look and taste like Jiro in Japan. We also ordered the Pad Thai. Again, without a doubt, this was the worst pad Thai I've ever encountered. I'm not sure how this could even be called Pad Thai. The "sauce" tasted as if they just added sesame oil to the noodles and nothing else. Tamarind or fish sauce was absolutely not added to this dish. This wasn't even a distant relative to Pad Thai. Utterly disgusting. I ate 3 bites and just couldn't even do it... Fuji san is right down the street and their Pad Thai is just average, but light years ahead in quality compared to this place. I usually get my sushi from Chiyo Sushi and it is always great, and the price is exactly the same! Please spend your money anywhere else. read more

If you're in the mood for some incredible Asian fusion and love creative sushi then you need to come to this place! It was fabulous! Not to worry they also have traditional sushi and their sushi rice is great. Their other entrees looked tasty too but we stuck with the sushi. My wife who loves unagi (eel) had the Sweet and Crunchy which tasted like a symphony of flavors. I had the Let's Get Saucy roll which had tempura salmon surrounded by tuna and a blend of sauces. We shared a Endless Love Potion roll (fittingly) which was our least favorite but we wiped it out. It's like saying a snicker doodle was your least favorite cookie. How could you go wrong? My daughter had the chicken udon which wasn't the traditional we were expecting but even that tasted great with a nice creative twist. It wasn't a soup and more of a noodle dish but the noodles were obviously soaked in udon broth. We also had the Ahi Tuna Tacos which were honestly one of the best little appetizer bites I've had. Is it cheap? No but when is sushi ever cheap. But is it worth it? YES! *one thing of note the bathrooms could have been a little cleaner. Fusion is one of the newer sushi restaurants to open up in the Cockeysville/Hunt Valley area. The format is simple but practical with the big sushi bar being in the middle and tables around the perimeter. They also have a liquor store as well, plus a good drink menu. Their menu is primarily sushi but they do offer some Chinese offerings. There is a great list of specialty rolls, which are all uniquely intricate and highlight the ingredients they feature. The red cowboy roll is particularly good and features two different styles of tuna (nigiri style and spicy chopped), with jalapeno and scallion on top, then garnished with a small drizzle of eel sauce. The non-specialty rolls are pretty mundane though, most being very small and just basic. I understand there is only so much you can do with an eel and cucumber roll or a California roll, but I was just less than enthused when I was brought some of their more basic options. The tuna used in the red cowboy roll is noticeably better than the tuna used in any of the "lunch-combo rolls". The lesson learned is to just order the specialty rolls, which are better anyways. I'm always looking for the next great sushi spot and from what I've eaten at Fusion, it's pretty darn good. One thing I have decided, if your sushi restaurant does not offer a bento box option, it's not an inexpensive place. Fusion has some great sushi, but their pricing is closer to $$$ than the $$ that they've been rated here. The physical space of Fusion seems more like it was some other type of restaurant before it became Fusion. It's a nice space, but not particularly Japanese in design or feel. The service is good and plentiful, the English language comprehension, not as much. There are a couple of other rooms aside from the big main room (where the giant square sushi bar is located), so I'm guessing this place is good for larger groups. Lots of easy parking and oddly, way too many flat screen TVs all around the main room, always on sports. Not sure how well NASCAR goes with sushi dining, but there you are. read more

The menu is huge with so many creative choices. Try the Ahi Tuna Taco appetizer. Yum! The fish was so fresh tasting! This was one of my favorite bites of the night. Some of the names are pretty funny (No Money No Honey), but the Sweet & Crunchy Roll (eel, spicy crab, avocado, etc.) was a favorite, along with the French Kiss (a no rice roll). The rolls are really large, as are the nigiri sushi. We did notice that nigiri sushi is priced pretty high, but this seems to be the area, and not just here. We paid the same money as 2 nights ago at Yamato, where we got far less food and where the rolls were not near the size or the delicious taste as at Fusion. We also recommend the Green Decadence roll, which was very fresh-tasting and had seaweed salad in it. Our server was also excellent! She was very bubbly and energetic, and she was helpful in choosing from the large menu. She obviously enjoyed her job, and made the dinner experience even more fun and enjoyable. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We didn't end up eating here because the staff was so rude and inconsiderate. I'm on crutches and went to Fusion because they had outdoor seating and the food looked good. It was a nice 65 degrees out and it was also very crowded indoors. I'm getting surgery soon and cannot risk catching Covid, and have also been cooped up inside, so eating outside was important. When we got there, the hostess was very busy and extremely rude. She asked "how many," and before I could respond, she ran away. Then she came back and we asked to sit outside. She said that it was "too cold out," and that a party had sat outside but came in because it was windy and their food got cold. This didn't make much sense and being from Upstate NY, 65 degrees was definitely not cold for us. We asked three more times and finally she agreed to sit us outside. Once we got there, we asked to turn on the heat lamp and she rudely said "no" and left. Then, a waitress came out and informed us that the outdoor patio was closed because it was too cold and said we could come inside. If anyone has ever had the unfortunate experience of walking on crutches, they know how hard it is and how difficult it was to even get to the patio, just to be told we couldn't sit there. At this point, we were so fed up with their rudeness, incompetence, and sheer lack of customer service that we left. read more

Man, I dont understand some of the negative reviews. This and Yamato are my familys 2 top local sushi restaurants and we have easily been to Fusion over 20 times, never having a bad experience. Sushi is alwaays fresh tasting, and the roll combos are outstanding. The crab dynamite, and sweet passion (heart shaped) rolls are family favorites. Their tempura offerings are excellent as well. Before my kids really ate sushi, they would get the chicken tenders and fries. The chicken was tempura fried, and probably the best tasting tender Ive ever had. Fies were great also. We love the gyoza dumplings here as well. If I had to really dig for a negative, I ordered the pad thai for lunch once, and while it wasnt a bad meal, it really didnt taste like authentic pad thai...more of a chicken lo mein. I dont doc too many points for this because for me its a Japanese/sushi place...so pad thai probably isnt really the right thing to order here anyway. This location is often hit or miss with us. Sometimes the food is on point then sometimes the food is meh. The sushi is good most of the time but we think there are better places for sushi around. My husband and I have ordered various menu items both American and Asian and once again it is hit or miss. We did find a piece of plastic in a dish one time. Let me start with the most important part - The food was not terrible and tasted good. This next part pertains to the bar area, not the seating area, and I'm sure is a different experience. The service was lacking, inattentive, and seemed chaotic at times. Shouting of orders was frequently heard and the running of staff across the bar area was a common sight. I will admit that there was a large take-out order (which seems to be very popular here) that swamped the kitchen/ staff, yet it's odd that one large order turned this area into a chaotic and inefficient monster. After the food order was fulfilled it did seem to become more orderly and calm, but it still was a unique experience. We been going for years never had an issue before with our tasked trained service dog and have been there several times in which we have been completely complimented on his training and the other day we were hassled before the door shut to present a fake ID and papers in which by state and federal law literally say can not be asked for or shown as the do NOT exist ! these fake ID's sold on the web is truly making it so hard for real service dog handlers and places need to stop asking for things that are fake and making up there own laws when literally in 1990 they we written for people with. disabilities and rewritten 12 years later to include service animals please educate your self and your staff on the only two things your allowed to ask is is it is a service dog and what task or tasks does it preform ! period nothing else the only time you can refuse service is when the animal is being disruptive , The FDA also allows service animals in places that serve food because of there higher training and cleanliness i would love to educate u fully before someone acually will take action against this as you are literally breaking federal and state laws and there breaking them by presenting you with a fake ID or card if u want to educate your self more please go to ADA.gov to the FAQ on service animals it will give you all the info u need to know and what laws you broke that day. As far as state laws please go to MD state page under service dogs and see the state laws. Did u know Maryland allows other animals as service animals ? Like Cats monkeys and others ? I've stopped here twice after biking at the nearby NCR trail. I think it's a pretty solid place for sushi. They have plenty of special rolls to choose from in addition to your standard rolls, all reasonably priced. Last time I went, the soft shell crab roll was pretty great, though I guess that would be a hard roll to mess up. Between my boyfriend and I, we had two special rolls and two regular rolls, and we were definitely both stuffed. I would definitely come back here if I'm in the area. read more

This is a very popular local spot. I tried a few years ago and was left disappointed. Figured I'd give it another try. Ordered a salmon roll and crunchy spicy tuna roll with a side seaweed salad. Rolls were good size but mostly all rice. The crunch roll was covered in a pink crunch topping which was tasteLess and unappealing. The salad was drenched in a vinegar dressing and wet. I will not be returning... i suggest trying umi sake or green leaf! read more
