Baltimore Roll B Angry Dragon Roll Snow Mountain Roll

I visited Yama Sushi on a Saturday night and was surprised to be the only diner. Despite the quiet atmosphere, the food was good. I had the Baltimore Roll B, the Angry Dragon Roll, and the Mountain Roll. All the rolls were great. The service was pretty average but this seems like a family-owned restaurant so I wasn't expecting too much. Over all this was a solid experience. You can tell that they put a lot of effort into their food and I think it deserves some more business.

Baltimore Roll B, Angry Dragon Roll, and the Volcano Roll

I visited Yama Sushi this past Saturday night and was very surprised. Being the only table sat within the restaurant was a little jarring at first, but I was quickly impressed with the speedy service and great quality of food. I ordered the Baltimore Roll (B), the Angry Dragon Roll and the Volcano Roll. All the rolls were great, especially the Baltimore Roll! We also ordered the Pork Gyoza which was pretty okay. The service itself was pretty average as it seems the owner's children work tables and to-go, but this seems like a family-owned restaurant so I wasn't expecting too much. Overall this was a solid experience and you can tell that they put a lot of love into their food. Despite its shortcomings I think this place deserves a lot more business and would fully recommend others give this place a try.

Placed an order for takeout. They said it would take 20-30 minutes, and when I arrived 30 min later my order was ready and waiting for me. It appears that the inside dining is not open, so they're just doing takeout orders right now. My order was gyoza, seaweed salad, double crab roll and volcano roll. Everything tasted fresh and delicious! Highly recommend the volcano roll which is a tempura roll of tuna, salmon, avocado and spicy crab meat with flaming special spicy sauce. It's delicious! An explosion of flavors and textures in your mouth.

Amazing sushi and hibachi!! Everything was so fresh and delicious. The place was very nice and clean. We will be returning again.

    Hot and spicy chicken udon....

I ordered "Hot and spicy" chicken udon for delivery and this plain, tasteless dish is what I received. I had to recook this and create an actual hot and spicy stir fry sauce to make this edible. Crazy.

Ok. Sushi is good. Service is subpar. This is a family run joint. They have their children helping out. So sometimes you just need to help them out as I know you are paying but not much expectation. I've been coming here when they open by Italian sensations and needed bigger facility. Plus side it's BYOB and the liquor store down the street can deliver. Why do I come back? It's good sushi and can't really ask for much more Solid 3 stars. ProTip: order the soft shell crab appetizer

Great service, nice ambiance, clean interior. The shrimp tempura roll, sashimi appetizer, and edamame were great. Blackened tuna roll was very bland and disappointing. But great experience overall. My 5 year old loved it too!

    Sushi galore, general tso combo

Amazing lunch date- food was phenomenal. Staff is friendly and quick. Good prices, speciality roll was out standing. We also got a combo platter of general tso's to share with fried rice. Plenty for two people to share with sushi. Fried rice was brown... I'm not a fan of yellow fried rice and very very flavorful

Tables that never get cleaned up

I am all about family run restaurants which this is but not at the cost of me paying them to bus my own table. Their kids are essentially the waitresses but god sake teach them how to be one. We had to get up and ask for everything ourselves. They never check back. As for the food, the sushi that my wife ordered was GOOD, the hibachi dinner that I ordered left much to the imagination. Meat was over cooked, fried rice had a weird 'old oil' smell/taste to it. Portions were small compared to other places. They do not serve both noodles and rice. You have to order noodles as add on/side order. Our kids love the noodles so we ordered but they refused to eat because noodles had that same 'old oil' smell/taste to it. Their yum yum sauce must be house made because it was terrible. Any modification is charged as extra. We sat next to a table that was never cleaned from the time we got there. I may order sushi again but as take out!

    Chicken pad thai
    Karen C.

Service here can be excruciatingly slow so be sure to allow ample time if dining in. If you live where they deliver, note that they have a $2 delivery charge. The chicken pad thai is delicious, this is the only place around that I like pad thai; it is usually way too sweet for me. The sushi here rocks, it is so fresh! My personal faves of the ones that we always get are the Pearl River, the Shrimp Tempura and the Spicy Tuna. Soft drinks here come in a can. If going on the food alone this place would be 4/4.5 stars but you have to lose points when customers have to go to the counter to ask for their check and carryout boxes when there are only two tables in the whole restaurant.

    So yummy!

I popped in to The Local with one of my friends for a much needed happy hour and we were both in consensus we had to come back to try some other menu items and specials. $7 for the house Sangria and a mule of the day, was a great start to the evening and quite tasty. We both dined on the burger and fries and enjoyed the dish. I would've like a bit of seasoning on the burger patties and maybe a cheddar or American cheese, but that's my personal preference. I asked for the black truffle aioli on the side and that was definitely the way to go to really be able to taste the black truffle. And might I say the aioli was delicious. Our waitress was great and very attentive. The Local offers different specials on various nights and even does live music on Friday nights. On the plus side my family enjoyed the ribs and crab balls. On the negative side, the fish in my fish and chips was painfully thin and small. Normally you get a nice chunky piece of fish when you get fish and chips. Not only that, l've never had fish and chips where the skin was on the fish. I left most of the skin behind, but ate some of it because the portion was so small. I had to eat something. Please have the chef look up what fish and chips is supposed to look like. Despite being the only server, our wait person was outstanding - it wasn't their fault that they had to handle the entire dining room. . Also appreciated the carafe of water on the table - but why no ice -had to drink lukewarm water. Make sure to ask for prices upfront and verify-for a single crabcake entrée, we paid $63 when it's advertised online as 30. Let the buyer beware.. Wouldn't feel a need to return at this point, too many other better options.

Our server was the bartender and she was pretty attentive. I ordered an ice pick to drink (vodka and tea). There was hardly any vodka in it lol. I ordered hush puppies which were delicious, but they were served with a little container of cold butter spread? I would have thought they'd serve with melted butter. I also got an order of wings and they weren't that great. So much breading, not really hot, and not cooked crispy like I asked. Prices were very reasonable though. Huge tv's hugged the upper walls, grabbing the attention of patrons. Honestly, I was bored by being pummeled with sports. The young lady behind the bar said to sit anywhere, all there were was the hightops and bar stools, we prefer a low table, there were none, maybe way in the back where no one was seated. She brought over the 2-sided menus, I asked what they do well here, as it was our first visit. She made her recommendations, and my husband got the cheesesteak sub with French fries (upcharge). I ordered the chicken wings with ranch and celery (8 for $10.95), not bad! She said they were good here, also the hamburgers , I can't remember what else they do well, other than the crab cake. We did not order anything with alcohol, so I am at a loss there. They do have beer on tap and bottles. The cheesesteak was good, fresh roll and tasty meat. The fries were as expected, nothing outstanding. Just good for bar food. My chicken wings were not puny, just normal size and market value, had them made to be mild. This came with celery (quite fresh and crunchy), the ranch was poured off into a plastic cup. Both orders came in plastic baskets, and a paper plate for bone discard. Plenty of napkins. Have to hand it to them, in-between sports, they played music and they sure do have a kicking stereo system, really great quality. It was a welcome break. She did visit once to make sure all was Ok and any needs. All was fine. The bill came , I checked it and gave her my cc, she returned and the bill was altered and the price of the cheesesteak went up $3! Honestly, I did not say anything or check the bill against the menu, which was put away. I just chalked it up as an oversight on the server's part. She did not say anything about the price adjustment either. I can understand a mistake in the charge. Just say something. I guess I am overreacting at this point. Sigh.
