The sushi rice is spit out of a machine, the person over the counter just places the wrapper over the rice and adds whatever protein and veggies you want in it. Then it is placed into another machine that cuts it into pieces. If you want fast sushi for a not to expensive price, then this is the spot for you. I would rather go to a grocery store sushi and have them make it by hand. At least you know it's someone who can actually roll it by hand. I've been here a few times and enjoy it very much. It's hard to find fresh sushi so the fact that you watch them assemble it is wonderful. This time I tried their bowl, which is just ok. So, the kids and I had Fusian at Easton a couple of weeks ago and it was GREAT! We loved it! We were able to watch and see that the sushi was being made fresh and we were able to dine in and enjoy the fresh sushi. The irony of this is that we actually stopped by this Fusian (Grandview) a half an hour prior, but decided to leave since they are not offering dine in. So - that's where this review actually begins...The sushi that I ordered for delivery was not fresh...at all. I am not sure if it's because they are only offering carryout/takeout that maybe select rolls are being prepped and made ahead of time, but I did not enjoy my sushi at all. The rice, the veggies, and the tuna/salmon...did not taste like they were freshly prepared. Both of my rolls immediately fell apart as soon as I picked them up with the chopsticks as well. I was so disappointed in the rolls that I didn't even end up eating half of the rolls...I'm not sure I'll return back to this location, but do hope they improve the quality and freshness of their sushi rolls especially when they're only option is carryout/takeout right now. read more

This is a great sushi option if you live in the downtown area. I was drawn to try FUSIAN based on the "build-your-own" sushi. I first tried the miso, and I have to be honest, I was a little underwhelmed. I would probably skip the miso soup here next time - it just didn't have much flavor. I was hoping for it to be a little saltier! The seaweed salad, on the other hand, was really fantastic, and honestly one of the better seaweed salads I've had in Columbus. The seaweed had a nice bite and texture to it, the dressing was delicious, and it was a decent portion size for the price. Now onto the main event - the sushi! I ordered an inside-out roll (seaweed on the inside), with tuna, avocado, cucumber, scallion, sweet soy sauce, and tempura crunch and sesame seeds on top. Overall the flavor of the sushi was fantastic and I really enjoyed it. My one qualm was that the roll was so large that it was hard to eat; I wish it had been rolled a little tighter! Overall I enjoyed it though, especially because I was able to choose the exact fillings and toppings that I wanted. FUSIAN is a little expensive so I don't think I would come here all the time, but it's a nice treat for when you're craving sushi! The servers were much more attentive and careful with cleanup between making the rolls. I seriously don't recognize it as the same place we went to last time. My boyfriend didn't either! I thought about trying Fusian ever since hearing all the buzz about it. It's another of those counter service and work your way as you pick your items things. The best part is the opportunity to try many different sushi rolls. It has so much to choose from. The reason why this place sucks is because the food isn't worth it's exorbitant price and the service is terrible. I have serious problems when hearing the word fusion. It suggests a dumbed down version of the authentic thing that makes it more palatable to those who are too squeamish to try it. The rolls here themselves are actually pretty good. It's much more better than grocery store quality. The problem is they are way too expensive. It's not that good, sorry. The vegetable rolls are about $7. It's an okay price for a sushi roll. There is no charge for substituting brown rice. It comes as a seaweed wrap, but it's a bit more if you want a soy wrap. There are vegetables like cucumbers to add with no charge for as many as you want. It's not big so you need to order more than one. This is where you get in trouble. I would come to Fusian again if the prices were appropriately adjusted. It's too expensive for sushi that is supposed to be aimed at those looking for something not quite authentic and for something fast. This is popular but it's hard to see why. read more

The last two times we went, it was disappointing : ( I asked for brown rice, they gave me white rice so I mentioned that I said brown rice. She rolled her eyes. We come to this location for the gluten free tempura shrimp that they've had for a long time. I said, "I'll have the gluten free tempura shrimp please." They said it wasn't gluten free and I said, "Really? Because it has been for a very long time." She said, "Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't." This is very risky and potentially dangerous for people with gluten allergies. They could hospitalized if they order the shrimp that has been gluten free for a year and all of a sudden isn't but wait sometimes it is? So anyway, I get over it. Then I order green onion, they grabbed red onion. I said cucumber then they added jalapeño instead. I didn't enjoy having to correct them multiple times. THEN the employees were arguing with each other the whole time in front of everyone in line. A guy next to me said, "Wow this is awkward." Next, I asked for gluten free soy sauce at the end and they said, "I don't think we have that." Even though they have had it every time over the last few years. This is great place to go for a healthy meal with an Asian flair. A tip: you can order ahead using their app and earn rewards through the app as well. Inside the ambiance is light and airy and with a minimalist and modern vibe. There is a drink station with assorted choices, but they didn't seem to have the usual Coke/Pepsi fountain sodas. If you ordered ahead go straight to the register. Otherwise you get in line to order and customize your roll or bowl. I've always liked the left coast (aka California) roll which comes with the usual crab filling and other veggies. It's totally customizable, though, and there is a "create your own roll" option too. Try the tempura crunch topping for a light crunch that goes well contrasting with the otherwise soft texture of the roll. Assorted sauces are a available with the wasabi and ginger roll. The left coast roll was tasty and fresh. The veggies were crunchy and the rice just right. Again, try the tempura crunch which adds a wonderful texture to the roll. The staff are usually.. ok. Usually the service and the ways they make our rolls are spot on however I went Sunday afternoon today and they were so sloppy. There was no one behind me but they were rushing to make my order where my roll fell apart even tho it wasn't overstuffed so the person tried to restuff it from the sides instead of re-rolling and cut it and mostly fell apart even more. These drinks are great and refreshing. The interior design here is in my opinion the best of the local outlets. It's similar, yes, but seems to have much better natural light. I haven't actually been to this fusian location, but I did attend their pop-up at Stump to test their new sushi bowls. Their staff were all very courteous and helpful in deciding what to order! I opted for the highland bowl without mushrooms and added avocado. First of all, the portion was generous and it was half of what this location is actually offering, so the price of the bowl (around 11-12$) is definitely worth it! The food itself was incredibly fresh and cooked appropriately. The brined chicken was absolutely perfect and tender, and the sauces paired very nicely. I've only been to fusian once before on campus, but after this positive experience I definitely intend on heading over to the grand view location for another bowl! It makes sushi less intimidating for people who don't normally eat it (me), as it is more familiar as a "rice bowl." Good job fusian, see you soon! read more

As someone who has celiac disease (so GF) and vegetarian, finding safe food places when I travel has been a challenge. However, this place was good to go, having everything so incredibly well labled. My partner did their poke bowl both nights with crab, while I built my own amazing veggie roll (with GF tempura crunch!) both times. We also tried the miso soup, salad, mango sticky rice, and strawberry chocolate chip sticky rice. All of our friends sang the praises of this Chipotle-like sushi concept, and while in theory it sounded great, we get hesitant with these build-your-own concepts. Our theory is, we're not chefs; let's leave the recipe building to professionals. And unlike Tex-Mex food like Chipotle, Asian inspired flavors are a little more delicate; there just feels like too much room for error. We were finally moved to try Fusian when we got coupons for free entrees in our Columbus Stories box (can't beat free, right?). We're sad it took us this long to get there, but glad we finally took the plunge. In retrospect, we couldn't tell you what we got other than it was damn delicious. This definitely squashed our trepidations about making a scary gross combination. In fact, the staff was so kind and helpful! They made lovely suggestions along the way while still allowing us space to pick ingredients we knew we love in sushi. We loved that we could do half and half protein! I'm very happy to see this Fusian finally open. It seems like they've been working on this building forever, but it was totally worth it with how nice and clean and great the interior looks. Luckily, after the first week, it seems the rush has died down, or at least they don't have a lot of business at lunch on a Saturday, because the place was empty. Everything's pretty straight forward if you haven't been here before, and I noticed they've marked now what country the proteins are coming from (or at least just the salmon and tuna). Everything here looks super fresh, and the rolls you get are a decent size. Everything tastes great here, and it's a nice healthy, filling, and quick meal if you're in a hurry. My only complaints is that they could do with a few more options of fish, or at least have a spicy version like they used to have (At least I'm pretty sure they did). I guess they weren't selling well. The price point seems reasonable if you get a lot of toppings on your roll; otherwise, you'll be paying more for a simple tuna roll here then you would at Akai Hana. Lucky for me, I load it up. Is this my first choice for sushi in town? Probably not. Is it a great place to grab sushi if you're looking for something quick that's not a burger or a burrito? Definitely!
