I really like the family-feel to this small restaurant. Upon entering, the decor of Fuschian is rather unimpressive; the service, however, is wonderful. The host, who was also our waitress the night my friend and I dined, was very friendly and accommodating.
She offered suggestions of vegetarian dishes and told me of which dishes to avoid for spiciness, as I have an embarrassingly low heat-tolerance. I chose the lemongrass tofu vermicelli, which I thoroughly enjoyed. In fact, thinking of the crunchy/little bit chewy texture and heavenly seasoning of the tofu -- still gets my salivary glands going. The tofu sat atop a bed of vermicelli and veggies; my one wish was that there there should be more sauce to temper the dryness of the noodles.
I'm usually very picky about my tofu, but I can wholeheartedly recommend this dish to even those who are skeptical that vegetarian can taste good! My friend, however, ordered a simple beef and rice dish and was left dissatisfied at the small portions of her meal. At Fuschian, you get what you pay for and sometimes it's surprisingly great and sometimes not so. Still, it's veggie and student-friendly, so a win in my books. read more
