They're sort of modern with glass and wood and riiiight on a busy street, and the tables and seats are packed in enough that, while you don't feel crowded, you don't feel like you're having a relaxing dining experience, either. We met up with Yelper Feb and her hubby who told us about this place. It's located directly across the Duke Kahanamoku statue in the middle area of Waikiki Beach. It's been in this location since 1964. Parking in Waikiki can be a challenge, but we parked at the Royal Hawaiian parking garage and walked over. We ordered the Cold Somen Set and the Hot Udon Set at $21.75 each. I was impressed with the quality of the entire set. It was fresh and tasty. We had a few pieces of nigiri on the side which also was good. I enjoyed the miso soup which was a little strong but that's okay with me. It seemed like she was the only server manning the tables. I ordered the Udon Set (Hot) and Ikura Nigiri. Presentation was nice with the Sushi Boat! My UDON was Delicious!!! The 3 piece Tuna & 3 piece Cucumber Hosomaki was good. The one piece Inari was made well. The 3 piece Ahi Sashimi was an average quality... Grade 2 cut of tuna. Miso soup - Each place makes it different. I just didn't care for this one... it was a bit too salty / bitter for my taste so Reuben finished it. :) Small green salad with tomato, onion was just ok... tomato and onion was fresh, but a few lettuce leaves were wilted so I didn't finish it. Hot Green Tea was very soothing and refilled frequently. Ikura nigiri was good. When dessert arrived, we were very happy to see that each of us were served Azuki bean (red bean) ice-cream!! Had Sushi for lunch today. We were greeted immediately and sat down thereafter. The server was personable and friendly. The place was busy with almost all seats occupied. We ordered tuna sashimi, Hawaiian sunrise, Tamago , dragon roll, and seaweed salad. The food and drinks came out quickly and we devoured most of it before we could take good pics.. I was hoping the dragon roll eel would have been warmer, as I'm not used to eating it cold. It was good, nonetheless. The parking was limited, but we were allowed to park at the Hyatt for free. This was a great, affordable sushi spot in Waikiki. I don't think they take reservations, which is actually great if you don't plan weeks in advance (unlike some other sushi places around...). There's a waitlist in the front window where you can put your name down. We came around 6ish, and there were a few parties in front of us. We killed some time at the Hyatt farmer's market (MW 4-8PM), but we didn't need to wait for long. The restaurant itself was casual and cozy, and the service was excellent - everyone was friendly and polite. We were seated at a large table near the door, so there was a nice breeze coming through. We ordered the Waikiki bridge, with an additional order of ikura, tobiko, and uni. Everything was fresh, great quality, and cut to just the right amount. The uni was MP ($12 - 15, I can't remember). It was delicious, but I wouldn't say it was amazing enough to be $10+ per piece. We also ordered two glasses of nigori sake, which our server poured until it was overflowing in the masu (wooden box) - a sign of prosperity and generosity (at least that's what google tells me). While this may not be the fanciest sushi spot or offer a $300 omakase, I think it's worth a visit if you're craving sushi and don't want to break the bank. read more

And yes, off to Furusato for our sushi fixed! Cha-ching! When we arrived, they just opened ~ first customer of the day! We were greeted delightfully. Seated immediately & the woman followed us with a hand sanitizer with her & pumped it on our palm. Sweet! AMBIANCE. Cleaned, welcoming & organized environment. I instantly love this cozy sushi place! They are open for dining with five tables & two person allowed to dine at their mini bar. Every table was divided with partitions using a clear plastic cover. With Covid-19 around the corner, it is still scary dining out esp. in a tight space like Furusato but by far they did a great job upon ensuring the health guidelines. FOOD. We opt on their lunch special menu. Bandit got the Udon Set ($21.75) and Nigiri Sushi & Soba Set (24.75) for me. Udon Set comes with udon of course, tuna sashimi, cucumber & tuna rolls (3 pieces each), inari (deep fried tofu sushi), small green salad & miso soup. So far he enjoyed it greatly! I tried the tuna sashimi and by far it's pretty fresh. The inari on the other hand is just okay. He said the udon & miso soup is so comfy. We both agreed that the salad dressing they use is good. Nigiri Sushi & Soba Set (cold) is the perfect meal for the day. It comes with 4 pieces nigiri sushi (tuna, white fish, salmon, shrimp & egg), soba, cold tofu, small green salad & miso soup. My tummy is the happiest above all. It is also my first time to try soba (cold) and boy it was so ono! I did enjoyed the soba incredibly & I am glad I opt for cold. Never tried cold noodles before coz I don't think soup should be cold ayt. LoL. My least favorite is the tofu. It was so silk and love the texture but it is not simply appealing to my taste bud. I just can't gasp the goodness from it & until now, I am still trying to understand the cold tofu. Is it a dessert or a dish? As per drinks, we got oolong cold tea & a complimentary hot tea that both tasted a real tea! LoL. My husband love the hot tea most especially. Overall, the food is yum. Presentation wise, it is neat & creative. Our lunch special looks really delectable! CUSTOMER SERVICE. The Asian woman who served us is so kind & efficient. Love how they took care of our food & how she guide us on their menu. She went to check on us twice making sure we are good & enjoyed the food. The price is a bit steep. Depending on what time you go, the line to get in could almost wrap around the corner. We ate at 3:00 PM and every seat was full. Our rolls were great.
