For an affordable modern furniture store, this is almost as good as it gets. Many of these items, if found at DWR or CB@ might be tagged at $6,000 or more, but here you can get an awesome sofa for around $1200-$1500, which is unheard of in this design style. I got the bungee chair for around $200, the same price I would have paid for an ugly, overstuffed desk chair at office depot or something. Location is less than desireable, but everything is "45 minutes" away in Massachusetts. It's to bad hanna b. had such a miserable experience, but the owners were really nice to us. I would set up my own delivery service probably, and stick to the seating like chairs, ottomans, sofas, lounges, etc., instead of wardrobes and stuff. They even wrote us a thank you note in an email after they saw our blog post about how much we liked their store. If you can only afford $2000 or less on a sofa, and love modern style, this is really the only place to go, maybe in all of New England. make sure you set your emergency brake in their sloped parking lot, though. and don't forget to check out the basement for some more hidden gems.

This company is a fraud. They did a total bait and switch when I purchased a bedroom set. The…read moretotal for the set was $1,800 and the sales person set up payment arrangements so I could pay over 4 months interest free. The payments had to come out as an EFT from a checking account and they would not accept a debit card. Every two weeks for 4 months and the purchase would be paid in full. I made a cash payment of $300 at the time, which was never noted on the receipt. They took that money to pay for delivery and take away of the old mattress. Once the 4 months were up they continued to take payments and when I called the credit company I was told I needed to pay the full amount of $5,000 which was the amount of credit I was approved for on the date of purchase. I refused to pay any additional as I never used the remainder of the credit. They tried again after I put a stop payment on my account, then tried to put a payment through the debit card they refused to use initially. I was made aware on the purchase date that if I did not pay in full over the 4 months that the interest rate would be 50%. Absolutely outrageous!! The credit company tried to negotiate over the phone to get any amount they could to fulfill the total of $5,000. I am still fighting to get the payments back and resolve this matter. DO NOT TRUST ADAMS FURNITURE OF IT'S SALES ASSOCIATES.

I found myself at Past Prezence a few weeks ago, and I'm surprised I ever left! Past Prezence, run by Gina and Herb, is a true haven of wonderfully eclectic home furnishings, purses and articles of clothing. Each item has a rich story in its past, which I'm sure Gina and Herb will tell you about if you ask. Aside from the antiques, Gina and Herb also sell (and make!) original coffee tables from unexpected materials. Brimming with creativity and stocked with the right tools, Gina and Herb make custom pieces, too. I can claim, with absolutely no hyperbole, that Gina and Herb are artists. And, at that, some of the kindest, most interesting and inspiring people I have ever met. Visiting Past Prezence, from a completely selfish perspective, got me so much more than I bargained for: an artful coffee table, a beautiful mirror, a mellowed dresser, and a few of Gina's vintage purses (that already lived a memorable life, but are in great shape to live again)! You rarely, if ever, see true antiques else where. You usually see older furniture. Furniture without unique quality. The furniture here has the deep rich looking quality that is the sign of a true antique. Prices are high. Yet the prices seem to match the quality and the age of the item. However, they are not totally overpriced as some of the shops we have visited. You know the kind of place that gives you the impression that somehow being dressed in jeans and sneakers does not qualify you as a real shopper. You know the kind of place that seems to have everything priced in the thousands. There are some real hidden treasures here.
