Personally the only thing I don't like about Portugal is Portuguese cuisine, but when in Rome you do what the Romans do. They like Portuguese food. The view can't be beat in this restaurant, so I was a happy camper. I love seafood, but hate bacalau and I refuse to eat octopus. Both of those are extremely popular. Luckily we were able to order a whole bass for our table. My husband was the only one that won't eat seafood, but he found something else on the menu. The bass was great. We had a few bottles of their vinho verde wine which was good. My mistake of the evening was trying the barnacles. Never again. Had I not had a couple glasses of wine before then I wouldn't have even tried one. I couldn't get that taste out of my mouth for days. You are forewarned. The relatives who live there love them. The server (Bernardo) was extremely accommodating to our special requests, which was made possible because of the great attitude and culture of the restaurant, his dedication to service, and a willing chef. Wonderful ocean views and very fair prices. We did a quick getaway to Cascais for Memorial Day Weekend. This restaurant came highly recommended to us by a friend. Since it was in our neighborhood (lucky us!) we decided to check it out. Wow, the food here was delicious! The view was amazing! The stuffed crab (my mouth watering just reminiscing) was so flavorful! The Grouper was flaky and light. Fresh seafood only needs a little salt, pepper and olive oil to bring out the flavor. We really stuffed ourselves and wish we had taken it easy because the desserts looked really good too! It can to the table flaming and the waiter did a tableside opening of the salt crust, removal of skin, bones and playing in under 3 minutes. We didn't make a reservation but we were lucky. You can sit outside of half inside. It can be a little cold if you sit outside. But here you have a beautiful view at the see and the sun set. Most of the staff is very friendly and speaks English or French. The restaurant is a bit expensive but the food is very good. Choose the goat cheese as an appetiser with bread. Really tasteful. A bottle of house wine costs only €10 and is really nice. I choose for the Lobster Cream. Really delicious. The carpachio was delicious as well. The chefs Gambas was not very special: Gambas with mushroom sauce and rice. The cooked bread with Lobster was ok, but you must like bread. It is good and we might return. I think it is probably more worth it during the day though when you can see the view of the rocks and the waves. We went for dinner and it was already dark. The fish soup and lobster cream soups were excellent, as well as the couvert azeitão cheese. However, we were surprised to find out that the cheese is 15€. I would not eat it again at that price. The waiter said Serpa is much more expensive than Saia for some reason. The bulhão pato clams were also extremely good. Servers do not come up offering explanations, took a long time for someone to assist us initially, then we had multiple servers assisting us... much confusion in an pretty empty restaurant (2 other tables dining). As for the food, the polvo a lagareiro was incredible, one of the best octopus preparation we've ever had. Melt in your mouth tender, very generously poured olive oil. Table-side preparation, wonderfully plated/divided for the 2 of us to share (otherwise it's a huge entree for 1 person). Lobster bisque was good, it had chunks of lobster. Spider crab appetizer had great presentation, but not distinctly flavored. Other diners' whole fish cooked under a salt crust looked fantastic. I would recommend the restaurant if you're staying near Cascais, but wouldn't go out of the way from Lisbon to dine here (unless its the middle of summer and you're looking for a sunset dinner experience). read more

We hired a driver and at lunch time he recommended that we stop here for lunch. I understand why he recommended it the prices were not too bad by good restaurant standards near Cascais, the food was interesting and of good quality, service was friendly and good. The menus are available in English if they suspect you need it. Most of the staff speaks English. We started with peel and eat prawns which were interesting. My wife had broiled octopus with potato and vegetables. I had broiled salt cod (baccalau) with potato and vegetables. The bread was good. The olives ok. Dessert at the end was interesting but I have forgotten what we had. We had the house white: light and good with seafood. 40€ per person (before a nominal tip) sounds expensive but three courses plus wine plus coffee makes it a fair price in my opinion. read more
