Was on a tour, and the guide suggested this place as the best chicken, and it was goood! The Piri-Piri place is great, just a block. from the water and in the tourist area. this was a great meal. Bread, seafood soup for me and Mozzarella and tomatoes salad. Then, the plate of 1/2 chicken and fries came out with a spicy olive oil on the side, Yummy! wife had a bowl of mussels, and we all shared some delicious sangria. Just a nice outdoor afternoon lunch. Came here to say for lunch as a local suggested. No wait to be seated which was nice cause the area was busy. Loved the family feel of the place, all the servers seemed like they've worked here for a bit & were wheel oiled machine. We order the chicken and it came out in less than 5 minutes! So disappointed and I don't understand all the great reviews. The chicken was way salty and overcooked but still the best dish on the table. Sardines were not fresh - flesh was mealy and off-tasting (and I love sardines!). Portuguese sausage inedible. Fries were not fully cooked -- pale and cold/hard in the middle. Fried cod was decently cooked -- batter was crunchy, fish stayed moist, and the dish was served hot -- but the oil it was fried in tasted very old/reused and ruined the dish. Tomato salad was literally a flavorless hothouse tomato sliced with some sliced raw onion on top, for 9 Euros?! I did like the boiled potatoes that came with the sardines and the consistently excellent bread. We sat outside under a tent -- it was unpleasantly hot and we were harassed by flies. Added a star for the prompt and kind service, but I was so sad to have wasted a meal here because there's so much good food to be had in this town. Would not advise eating here -- if you're going to do something on this touristy strip, find somewhere else with a bit more ambiance and lower prices: everything is 2-5 Euros more per dish than neighboring spots. read more

We got the the Shellfish Cream Soup, it was very salty fishy tasting. The Chicken Salad had shredded chicken, corn, carrots, lettuce and tomato, seemed basic. The mussels in garlic were absolutely AMAZING, and only 15€. The grilled squid (calamari) had an olive oil and was so fresh tasting and delicious!! After days of steak and seafood, I was excited to have some good chicken. And it was. The roasted 1/2 chicken here is served with a spicy piri piri oil you can add at your descretion. It comes with a salad or fries, of course I got the fries. It came to our table quickly and I tore through it. The meat was juicy and the skin filled with flavor, the piri piri oil added a nice kick. The service was quick and friendly. But even better, the chicken is only 7.5 euros which is a deal for the meal and probably not common in Cascais. Yum! We were in Cascais for the day to hang out at the beach and dip our toes in the water. For lunch we ended up at Dom Manolo. The rotisserie chicken was delicious, especially when drizzled generously with piri piri oil. We also had an order of sardines (4 huge ones arrived on a plate) which came with boiled potatoes. Had no idea we were in what was considered a touristy area, but after walking by some fancier options, opted for this very casual, no frills restaurant. An order of sardines for the table and chicken for all of us-- one of the best meals we had in Portugal. I'm not a fan of fish by any means, but thoroughly enjoyed the sardines and the delicious potatoes it came with.The chicken was all natural and super flavorful & tender... a delight for all of us. (12/18/2016) Stopped into Cascais for some lunch and a little sightseeing in the small coastal town. Dom Manolo was highly recommended for the Piri Piri Chicken and grilled seafood. The chicken was excellent, half a chicken marinated in fragrant spices and fire-roasted, crispy blackened skin, highly seasoned, moist meat (even the breast meat). Really excellent chicken and for a great price. Also got the Grilled Sardines, perfect with crusty sea salt and a large squirt of lemon juice to accent the fishiness (in a good way) and cut the oils. Service was johnny-on-the-spot. It's a touch divey, can be communal tables when the place is packed (and it does get packed), but well worth it. read more

We stopped in to try their famous Chicken Piri Piri, it's so tender and tasty. Talked to the owner, he said they only put salt and pepper, it's all natural chicken. Unlike our 6 pound chickens in US. Dom Manolo's is one of a row of restaurants in Cascais that caters to tourists. They have menus in several languages. Now in winter the majority of their customers are Portuguese and they aren't real crowded. But the food is good, I had sardines and she had a Spanish omelet. She thought it was wonderful, and the tea too. The sardinhas were fresh, unlike the re-thawed ones available where I live. While I guess I'm not all that crazy about sardines after all, even fresh ones, I enjoyed trying these ones. And the big pieces of potatoes that came with them were tasty and buttery. Prices were reasonable, considering this is a tourist area. This was my second meal here. read more
