Was on a tour, and the guide suggested this place as the best chicken, and it was goood! The Piri-Piri place is great, just a block. from the water and in the tourist area. this was a great meal. Bread, seafood soup for me and Mozzarella and tomatoes salad. Then, the plate of 1/2 chicken and fries came out with a spicy olive oil on the side, Yummy! wife had a bowl of mussels, and we all shared some delicious sangria. Just a nice outdoor afternoon lunch. Our server spoke english and was so helpful in choosing our lunch items. Service was terrific!

Came here to say for lunch as a local suggested. No wait to be seated which was nice cause the area was busy. Loved the family feel of the place, all the servers seemed like they've worked here for a bit & were wheel oiled machine. We order the chicken and it came out in less than 5 minutes! It was really good, pretty juicy but I didn't really taste the piri piri spices. I'd still order it again though!

We were recommended to this place by our tour guide and it was a great recommendation. The grilled chicken was juicy and very tasty. The tomatoes and mozzarella were delicious. Great local restaurant and the prices were reasonable. The service was very good and the outdoor seating was very comfortable. If you are close by give this place a try.

Found this gem through my touring company. We were told their chicken is the best here and it did not disappoint. For only 10 euros you can have the best lunch ever and grab some gelato at Santini's across the street

This place was great. Staff was very extremely welcoming and the food was to die for. We had the sardines and the chicken and flavors were delicious and fresh. The desert was also delicious. Had a couple cafes as well which was a good closer for the meal. I hope to come back here again.

The restaurant DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS! BRING CASH! This is a spacious restaurant with a nice outdoor seating area. The area is safe from pickpockets since the area is enclosed with plants. We got the the Shellfish Cream Soup, it was very salty fishy tasting. The Chicken Salad had shredded chicken, corn, carrots, lettuce and tomato, seemed basic. The mussels in garlic were absolutely AMAZING, and only 15€. The grilled squid (calamari) had an olive oil and was so fresh tasting and delicious!! I would highly recommend sitting outside and that you try this place out!

We were recommended this place by a local resident. It's a great place for budget travelers. I ordered the grilled pork ribs and bacon. Turned out to be grilled thin cut pork belly. The seasonings were really good on the grilled meat. The grilled chicken with piri piri sauce (on the side) was good. Great patio dining in the heart of town. PROS: Seasoned meat Price

Bon Dia Alergia!!!!!!!!!! Outstanding. . .great location and the food and staff were spectacular. Yes, its in the tourist area, but many place in tourist areas rely on volume and the food and service suffers. Not here. They were attentive even in the madness of the rush hour. Anf finally, the food was exacty the way you like. . ..Fresh, hot and full of flavor. I love that the Europeans don't try to disguise food with too many sauces or over spicing it to the point that all you taste is spice. This place will just keep your good vibes going. Obrigado

After days of steak and seafood, I was excited to have some good chicken. And it was. The roasted 1/2 chicken here is served with a spicy piri piri oil you can add at your descretion. It comes with a salad or fries, of course I got the fries. It came to our table quickly and I tore through it. The meat was juicy and the skin filled with flavor, the piri piri oil added a nice kick. The service was quick and friendly. But even better, the chicken is only 7.5 euros which is a deal for the meal and probably not common in Cascais. We also had the 1/2 litre of sangria that was a nice accompaniment to the chicken. If you're in Cascais and like chicken then stop here for sure

(12/18/2016) Stopped into Cascais for some lunch and a little sightseeing in the small coastal town. Dom Manolo was highly recommended for the Piri Piri Chicken and grilled seafood. The chicken was excellent, half a chicken marinated in fragrant spices and fire-roasted, crispy blackened skin, highly seasoned, moist meat (even the breast meat). Really excellent chicken and for a great price. Also got the Grilled Sardines, perfect with crusty sea salt and a large squirt of lemon juice to accent the fishiness (in a good way) and cut the oils. Service was johnny-on-the-spot. It's a touch divey, can be communal tables when the place is packed (and it does get packed), but well worth it.

If you go to Lisbon, you should come to Dom Manolo in Estoril to try their Chicken Piri Piri, Beef Cheeks and seafood.

They were as expected. Generally, seafood isn't cleaned by default (fish bile is not removed, shrimp is not deveined, etc.) so I had to do some cleaning but they were fresh and good too. Very salty, but you can avoid the skin to avoid the salt. Both mains came with a side. Choices were salad, boiled potatoes, or fries. Tried the salad and fries and got some rice as an additional side. Not too pricey either.

Cascais was highly recommended by the hotel concierge and an expat we met while in line at Pasteis de Belem. We decided to search for restaurants that are off the beaten path and luckily came across Melody. It was cozy and had a small outdoor dining area. The menu was pretty expansive and the portions were generous for the price. Since we've had lots of seafood during our trip so far, I asked our friendly and wonderful server for his recommendations on their beef menu. I opted for Bitoque à Melody. This was a generous portion of steak in mushroom cream sauce which was outstanding. My husband ordered Salmão Grelhado, a grilled salmon filet and baby potatoes served with garlic and garlic pepper in a light olive oil sauce. For dessert, server recommended 2 that are popular, but it didn't stand out as much as the savory items.

First off, you need to make a reservation. The restaurant is small and very popular. I was able to…read moremake a reservation for the same day though, because luckily Portugal had a World Cup match that night. We sat inside the cantina side. Our server was adorable and bubbly with a great sense of humor. She did get really busy though toward the end of our meal and it was a challenge to flag her down for our check. With that said, she provided exceptional service earlier. This is the kind of place you want to go to with others who love tasting a variety of dishes. I went with my family who is not into that concept, and so I had to choose just one dish that I would not be sharing, as no one else wanted to share theirs either. Some of the dishes were quite small, but mine was not! I ordered the octopus which was cooked to perfection and had a mix of potatoes and greens underneath. Would definitely order this again! It was one of the best octopus dishes I've ever had. The one thing we did share was the croquettes. They were delightful, but kind of expensive as they were 1.70Euros each and were literally one bite, but a very flavorful bite at that. I also had a few glasses of their summer sangria which I rather enjoyed. I would return here when in Cascais again, but maybe with a different group of people so that we can treat it as tapas as it should be instead of individual dishes. There's so much more I want to try from their menu!

We split 3 dishes and definitely couldn't do a 4th as the portions were perfect to share. Dishes we ordered were the octopus with Migas, the wild crispy shrimps and the Ze Povinho which is black pork cheeks slow cooked in red wine. The octopus was incredibly tender and served over potatoes that had a lot of flavor. The shrimps were 4 large (prawns not sure why they were called shrimo?) were fried but nice and juicy. The puree of the avocado and mango with the prawns was a winning combo! We were both pretty full but ate every bit of the pork beef cheeks which was served with au gratin potato that had a hint of dill in it which I was surprised I like as I'm not a huge dill fan.. Once we got to this spot and this are in general we knew it was the place to be at. Monday evening and packed!

I was so happy…read moreto see that Yelp had a presence in Portugal so while planning the trip I started book marking all the cool exciting places I wanted to check out ! Sooo I was so happy to find Restaurante Mar Do Inferno! It had gorgeous views of the Atlantic Ocean and the best seafood ! We made our reservation online before leaving California. It was easy and had an English and Portuguese option. We arrived and once we got there we were greeted warmly and seated quickly . There were all these fresh seafood options that you could pick from in live tanks ! Service was top tier !! Our waiter was funny and very entertaining! He warmed up even more as the evening progressed! We had the best view of the sea and ambiance was lovely ! We ordered the seafood platter - langoustines, lobster, prawns, sea bream, potatoes in a garlic butter sauce !! Everything was SO FRESH!! So delicious !!! Great wine selection especially European wines and cocktails too !! Hubby loved it and we definitely will come back next time we are in Portugal!!

Unfortunately, it ended up being the most disappointing--and most expensive--meal we've had during our month in Portugal. The experience got off to a poor start. The hostess wasn't welcoming, and when I politely asked if we could sit closer to the window, I was told those tables had been reserved weeks in advance. We had also made a reservation for our anniversary, so that was disappointing. We were seated behind a pillar instead. Throughout the evening, not a single member of the waitstaff smiled. They all looked unhappy to be there, which created a surprisingly cold atmosphere. None of the staff ever came by to ask how our meal was, and no one acknowledged our anniversary. The restaurant itself wasn't nearly as elegant or luxurious as its reputation suggests. Aside from the lobster tank, the décor and atmosphere felt rather ordinary. To make matters worse, our view overlooked a wire fence and a parking area instead of the beautiful ocean setting we had expected. There were also several odd service issues. I ordered a gin martini. They said they were out of green olives, so I requested a lemon twist instead. The drink arrived with black olives and a lemon twist, which was confusing. As for the food, the complimentary bread with the crab pâté was excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, everything after that was underwhelming. The sea bass was bland and forgettable, and the vegetables were overcooked to the point of being mushy. What made the evening especially disappointing is that every other restaurant we've visited in Cascais has been wonderful. Friendly, smiling staff checked on us, made us feel welcome, and served memorable meals--often at much lower prices. Given Mar do Inferno's reputation and premium prices, we expected an exceptional dining experience. Instead, we left wondering how it has earned such glowing reviews. I genuinely hope management takes a close look at the service, atmosphere, and food quality, because right now the restaurant simply doesn't live up to its reputation.
