I heard about this business a while ago & finally got the opportunity to try it. When I first arrived there wasn't a line & then very quickly several people came. There is a shared parking lot in front of the business. Once inside, there are several tables & the counter to place your order. I came in knowing what I wanted but was then disappointed when I was told that the funnel cake flavor (s'mores) that I wanted had been discontinued. I was next told that my second choice (snickers) was also not available anymore. The clerk was friendly & tried to offer a suggestions based upon the cake that I wanted. I was kind of frustrated that the cakes that I wanted were still listed on their website the day I went to the business. I settled for the Cookie Monster cheesecake funnel cake. It was ok with all of the flavor combinations all together. I preferred some of the toppings separately or more than others. The funnel cake and cheesecake were good. The cake was served warm. The ice cream was ok. I appreciated the clerk asking if I wanted the ice cream on the side since I placed my order to go. The cake was also topped with Oreos, powered sugar & chocolate sauce. There was a little bit of an expected wait since there were pre-orders & other people got in front of me while I was deciding on another option. Cute little hole in the wall- I got a caramel pecan one but I don't think funnel cake is for me. It's just too sweet and anything bigger than a mini size would be crazy for one person- that and it's $10 for one mini one! To me that's definitely not cheap. The ladies were nice and very busy- they definitely are understaffed but did their best. Overall, I don't know if I'd come back again just because the prices were pretty high and it's not necessarily my cup of tea, but it has its own parking, there are a lot of different flavors, and they have a lot of different sales going on during the week as well. There's about 4 or 5 tables inside to sit, which is a perfect option since they are yummiest, in my opinion fresh out the fryer. There aren't any outside seating areas. Found this hidden gem in Durham when I was looking for desserts. It is definitely hidden away from a lot of other businesses but looks like a great family run business. They have a lot of different funnel cake options and I landed on the snickers funnel cake. It was perfectly made with a scoop of ice cream on top. Lots of different funnel cakes and fried Oreos to try for next time. They also have different lemonades to wash down the funnel cakes if interested. The atmosphere was good and plenty of seating to eat there. The staff was very helpful and the desserts were fairly priced. Overall, would suggest trying this place out. Came here 7/22/23 (happy bday Gabriel) after a flight from Philadelphia, I pass through NC on business and always have this place on my to try list and never got the opportunity until today heading to SC with my husband. My husband doesn't have much of a sweet tooth so only me and my kids tried the funnel cakes. Price point: 4 stars: for a large funnel cake it's going to set you back $13. It's theme park prices but it tastes better than a theme park. Crafted lemonades are $5 and bottles of water are $2. Taste/quality: 5 stars: the funnel cakes are good, very delicate in flavor, not oily/greasy, and light. We got the peach cobbler funnel cake and it was very good. My only complaint is it could've been a little more stewed Peaches on it with sauce. Just a smidgen more. I would recommend getting the ice cream on the side unless you like melted icecream. I'm a texture person and I don't like melted icecream. I wouldve tried the strawberries and cream but we are trying other food places today before we head back to the airport. Cleanliness: 4 stars: you will most likely have to clean up behind the ppl who sat at the the tables before you. There is indoor seating but depending when you go you may have to eat in the parking lot. Customer Service: 4 stars: the young man who serviced us was very polite and basically just took our order. He didn't explain the menu or ask if we were first time guests. He could've really up sold us on buying more since we were first time customers. Like saying is this you guys first time in? Are you hungry or want to sample? I wouldve said both lol and he could've easily sold us on 3 large ones vs the mini we tried and were satisfied with. I do think management should offer 4 sampler minis for a set price and I'm sure they would sell more. Idk if they do this, I didn't see any signage. Located in a quiet little, mixed use plaza, there's no signage outside beyond the logo on the door so look out for it. Inside the space is super simple, counter order, fryers and prep area, you order either a regular or deluxe ($10 or $12) in twelve or so flavor options along with some lemonades. Wait a bit as your funnel cake is freshly fried and you can nom on your dessert at one of the seats ringing the space. My peach cobbler funnel cake was delicious. Peaches tasted fresh and the vanilla ice cream was good quality. Given the freshly fried funnel cake and ice cream combo, you should eat your order as soon as possible but be aware, there are no tables inside given limited space. Just single seats around the periphery. Overall I like what Funnel Me Crazy is doing, their funnel cakes are solid along with their toppings. If they can figure out how to add some small parlor-type tables, I think the whole experience would be much improved. read more

They are so fun and remind me of fun times at the state fair. This place has a few different options. I've tired the snickers, peach cobbler, and the tella n strawberry and they have all been tasty. The service is slow there, but they also have a sign up to say give them some patience as they are understaffed. So that keeps me from being too on edge. It's small with a few seats and not much of a waiting area. So I always get my order to go. I loved funnel cake as a kid but kind of grew out of it as an adult because it can be overly sweet or too greasy. I visited during the day with a discount from a local dining club. I was glad to see they have so many topping options and ended up ordering a funnel cake topped with strawberries and bananas. It was better than I expected and I ended up eating half of it and saving the other half for the next day. I like the fact that they are locally and minority-owned.
