History
Established in 2005.
Rhonda L. Jones is the founder of Chez Moi Bakery, a home-based specialty bakery and retail-ready food producer based in Durham, NC.
After bringing back rum from a cruise, she decided to try a rum cake. She started baking early in life with an EZ Bake Oven! Her love for baking began by helping her mother bake for family & friends and her passion for business came from her entrepreneurial father.
Founded in 2005, the business was started as just a hobby. On March 23, 2013 while still working full time, Rhonda launched a dessert food truck which offered rum cake ice cream cakewiches, lemon cake and panna cotta in addition to the signature Brown Sugar Vanilla rum cake.
In 2015, she won 1 of 102 spots in the SCORE / Sam's Club Championship and March 2015, she was found on Twitter by a TV producer who was working on a national special for PBS called A Few Great Bakeries (aired August 2015). She knew it was time to resign from her full time job and finally took that leap of faith.
