We were introduced to Check Fresh Kitchen by the amazing innkeepers at Sweet Tea Bed and Breakfast. We were lucky to get in for dinner on our first evening in Conover. Our dinner started with The Dip Due- Pimento and fresh guacamole, topped with pico de gallo and served with corn chips. They both were very good, but the pimento cheese was my favorite (I guess because it is a Southern thing). For our entreeJenni had Seared Scallops which was the daily special. The scallops are brought in fresh, so when they are gone they are gone till the next deliver. The sear on the scallops was perfect.It came with a side of grits and mixed vegetable. I had the Shrimp and Grits- a combination of NOLA and Charleston styles. The menu had lot of yummy sounding things, so we will have to visit again on our next visit to Conover. read more

Fresh Chef holds true to there name with "Fresh". Their entrees, appetizers are incrediblely tasteful and wonderfully spiced - and blended masterfully. I'd love to get into details of every dish I've had, I'll simply summarize that Fresh Chef serves up high quality, farm fresh foods and ingredients. Rich in flavor, deep colors signifying freshness and quality. The menu is well balanced for starters, salads, entrees, different meats and other. You'll find an entree to fit your appetite. The Conover, NC location is situated slightly off the path but easily found and accessible. Love the outdoor seating with shade or heat (depending on preference and weather). I also like the booth settings because they are roomy, comfortable and spacious for a party to eat comfortably. Lighting is optimal throughout the restaurant. This is quite important because too bright is bothersome, and too dark can be a strain on your eyes. Staff is incredible, well managed and highly attentive. If a staff (any staff) passes your table and notice an empty beverage they'll stop and refill. They'll even ask if everything is going good. The chicken wrap was ok, but there was too much feta cheese that took away from the flavor. I asked for honey mustard sauce in the wrap & it wasn't added. The mashed potatoes were cold & the server gave me an unsweetened tea instead of sweet. I went with a large group of coworkers' & service was ok. It seemed like servers were too busy with the lunch crowd. I may try it one more time when it's less busy & opt for a different food item like the pesto pasta with shrimp that someone suggested. As for right now, I'm not too impressed & it seems over priced & over rated. read more

Tried this place on a whim with a few friends of mine & my husband. The food was soooo good. As an appetizer, we got the duo dip platter -- it was guacamole & pimento cheese with chips. The guac was fresh and delightful & the pimento cheese was savory. My husband got a beef stir fry with cilantro rice & I got the shrimp & grits. UNBELIEVABLY DELICIOUS! Our friends' food was beautiful and tasted just as good as ours! I can't remember what they ordered. The service was prompt; our drinks were refilled in timely manner and masks were worn. The servers also held the doors open for us every time we entered and left the building although they didn't have to. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you receive. Bathrooms & dining area are both clean. Definitely will eat here again & recommend to those who are in the area! read more

This had been one of our favorite places to eat, until the past few weeks. We typically visit once per week. The first issue was that we waited for 30 minutes for our food, then the waitress told us that it never got put into the computer. The food was delicious and we thought it was just a glitch. We visited again last night and it was much worse. I asked for soup as one of my sides, but never got it. The person (I think it was a manager) who brought the food never apologized or tried to make it right. Even though I paid for a full meal, I never got it. During the meal the waitress picked up my cup to fill it up, but never filled it and sat it back down. As we got near the end of the meal, she took my glass from me before I was finished with my meal. So I never had a drink for another 10 minutes of our visit. The waitress apologized for the drink issue and said to make up for it she took our drinks off the bill. But we were all drinking water, so there was no charge for water to begin with. It has certainly changed a lot here and I believe it's time to find a new regular place for our family on the weekends that still has decent service. read more

What a beautiful menu in a very calm and relaxed setting inside an old historic building. Their filet mignon literally melted in my mouth. They've got a great selection of adult beverages. This place is always spot on, I went before the shutdown and again since they've opened. They are keeping empty tables between parties and the servers wear masks and keep a distance when taking order. Now let's get to the food. I keep going back to the blackened salmon salad with their garlic dressing. It's just really really good. The salmon is cooked perfectly and the greens are fresh. My son always gets the kids Alfredo and it's his favorite. I've tried a lot of stuff on the menu (bites of others food). Whatever you do, please do not go to Fresh Chef in Conover, NC! This is what a fresh order of quacamole looks like! And when I took it back the manager, Shawn, he offered no apology and said that's not what it looked like when he put it in the bag. He states their quacamole is made fresh daily and must have shifted in the bag!!!! I think not!!!! Awesome restaurant with unique environment. We had a large table and everyone loved their food. Good prices for the quality of food. When you go, we highly suggest the shrimp & grits!!!!! Also the pineapple salsa was delicious! Also, we were very impressed that the kids menu actually had nice options and not just hot dog or chicken nuggets. A little pricey for the area what the food is very good. I tried the hamburger with blue cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion and it was a solid burger. On the negative side the French fries were not good, cold and soggy. They need to prepare better French fries. I will be back to try other food/dishes on there menu. read more

Came here via Yelp as we weren't familiar with this area and needed recommendations. Our overall experience was great. The staff was friendly and greeted us as soon as we walked in the door. We were given adequate time to look over the menu without feeling rushed. Started with a soup. Both the husband and myself were satisfied with our choices. He got creamy potato soup. I had the French Onion. My only complaint with my soup was that it was rather salty tasting, but I was okay with it. For our entrées he got the Ribs and I got a 12 oz Black and Blue Ribeye. All the meats were tender and seasoned well however, the sides were less than impressive. It was a bit pricey, but for the experience, it was worth what we paid. Will return again. read more

We sat at the bar where we were able to watch the game which was great. Raegan served us and she was amazing.
