Should have of stuck to Tiago's.... the salad from here was horrible! The lettuce leaves are completely frozen, literally spit out chunks of ice. Only thing good about this is the quantity for the extremely high price! read more

The chorizo breakfast sandwich I got here was just okay. The chorizo had a spicy, smoky flavor but the same was really nothing special. Good study spot. Free WiFi. Kind of weird that the bathroom was all the way down a long hallway. read more

Conveniently located across from Holiday Inn. Has good selection of breakfast items and coffee.

Food is good and so is the macaroni salad. Prices are fair. Staff on the other hand can have an attitude and can make you feel really uncomfortable. When they have too many people there for lunch they get extremely overwhelmed and start arguing with each other. Food is good staff on the other hand not so much. read more

Great place for lunch. Great sandwiches and soups and the staff is welcoming.. It gets busy at lunch time..so it's better to call your order in ahead or you could be waiting a while... read more

Visiting from out of town, walked to this place for breakfast. Ordered the Denver omelet and a bacon egg and cheese sandwich. Both were fantastic! The iced coffee was made perfectly. They also have several big coolers of different bottled drinks. Prices were reasonable, and service was top notch. So glad we tried this place out. read more

Determined to avoid frozen french fries and questionable cheese-like sauce from the Bridgeport ferry concession stand, my family and I headed into the downtown area of Bridgeport for more fulfilling foodstuffs. The colored flags outside this deli fluttering in the wind caught my eye and I yelled to my dad to turn the car around, as I believed we had found our oasis. The place was pretty empty, but it seemed logical since it was a federal holiday and the deli was flanked by office buildings and a community college. Inside, the exposed-brick walls were thoughtfully decorated with posters and cushioned benches topped with vibrant pillows lined the perimeter of the space. Upon closer inspection, we noticed that the cushioned benches were actually resting on decorated chests. Candles also graced each table, making for a welcoming home-y feeling with potential for an intimate night-time setting, despite it being a casual deli. The owner greeted us with a smile and was helpful in guiding us through the chalkboard menu filled with the usual upscale but reasonably-priced deli fare: hot paninis, wraps, subs, and salads. Though the options were fairly standard, the food was fresh and satisfying. What made this experience particularly special was the graciousness of the gregarious deli owner, who served our food to our table and checked on how we were doing throughout. We found out later that he is from Madiera, and the capital is actually namesake of the deli. He told us that Madiera is a beautiful little island that is a popular European vacation spot. Seems fitting, since his cafe really was like piece of heaven in a sea of mediocrity. My only wish is that I were around these parts more often to support this deli that is offering something truly special to the area. read more

My family know eight here today and I have to say it was one of the worst experiences. I ordered a sandwich and when it came it had onions on it and I said this sandwich was not supposed to have onions on it may I have another. The manager came over and said we got the person in trouble who made your sandwich but we're not going to make you a new one that's just the way we do business. I said let me get this straight you will not replace my sandwich because of you having a policy that will not fix things when you do them wrong. The bottom line is I left there without eating a sandwich and the manager head from our family for the last 10 minutes we were there it is an awful place I would not recommend it to anyone visiting the area read more

The chicken smell is so strong, I am not happy with it. This is only my nots at this time.

I went to Funchal on the Green for lunch and ordered a panini. It was gross. Nothing about it wowed me or made me want to come back for more. It came with a spoonful of macaroni salad as a side. It was possibly one of most bland things I've ever eaten in my life. It had absolutely no flavor and even less salt. My friend had a sandwich that he also thought was mediocre at best. I believe it was called the Manhattan. The cafe looks very cute from the inside with lots of light but the FOOD? Never again. It seems like a lot of the professionals in the area come to the cafe which is great, but I don't understand why because the food is trash. The only reason why I gave it two stars is because the cashier was very sweet and the Snapple I had was great. It was Mango Madness. read more

Really cute place in the heart of bridgeport. Great service and a good ambiance, and the food is delicious! Try their tomato Parmesan soup, it's amazing! read more

Talk about a diamond in the rough! This little deli is in the heart of "downtown" Bridgeport. It has a wonderful assortment of sandwiches to choose from both hot and cold. You cant go wrong with the Roast Beef and it did not disappoint. the sandwich had a large pile of roast beef. Add the Horseradish mayo and you are in for a good time! Highly recommend the place if you find yourself in Bridgeport. read more

One of my favorite spots to grab a bite to eat. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. They offer a variety of specials and delicious sides with each meal. I'm particularly fond of the crab cake sandwhich. They don't fry the crab cake so the flavors of the crab and pepper can shine. read more

Amazing Panini's and great staff. Cozy fun place with WiFi to have breakfast or lunch for business or pleasure.

We stopped here for lunch on our way from PA to Rhode Island. It's a very convenient location, right off of 95. The restaurant has a cozy feel and is decorated well. Chalkboard menu with lots of great salad, panini and wrap choices. I ordered the house salad with chicken and my husband had the portobello pesto sandwich. Both were tasty, healthy and fresh. Friendly staff. Lunch for 2 with bottled water was $31- a bit pricey, but worth stopping for fast and fresh food on the road. We'd stop here again! read more

Excellent deli. I love it when a deli lets you get your food, eat and then pay. Food was great and the highlight was the strawberry lemonade and the Arnold Palmer iced tea, both made fresh. read more

Great place! Awesome food, nice people. Bridgeport's finest. Had a delicious breakfast and iced coffee and took a sandwich to go as well.

Had a late lunch at this wonderful cafe. The man behind the counter was friendly and welcoming. I was able to get an omelet at 1:30 in the afternoon accompanied by a nice foamy latte. They have a wide variety of menu choices, and an interesting looking specials board, curried chicken salad is just one example. I will be getting a salad or panini next time. Lovely atmosphere, relaxing and comfy. What added to this experience was the fresh food at a really reasonable price. Will be going back for sure. read more

This is my favorite deli in Bridgeport. Their salads, wraps, and paninis are delicious. They are reasonably priced as well. I love how they add fruit salad or a veggie slaw as a side. The guys behind the counter are always working hard and your food comes out quickly, even when there is a lot of people waiting. I definitely recommend this place! read more

Best cafe in town. Great service, great food and a real atmosphere! I would recommend Funchal Cafe to anyone coming into town.

I was in town for a few days on business.Everything was pretty good except the pistachio pie. It tasted sour. There was a great variety to choose from and fresh hot food to be had. If you need a quick bite near the courthouse and this is about the best place to go. read more

Amazing! Great place for breakfast and lunch. The ambiance is humble and the service was great. Very friendly and well portion and good pricing. Daily specials and a place to get away from massive corporate chains. Located in front of Housatonic Community College, this cafe lets you dine inside or out. You can also grab food to go. This place is the true definition of a cafe. Brings me back when I was Europe. Love it and great selection! read more

Paninis are made fresh and always delicious. I order at least once a week at work and it is always the highlight of my week. Great customer service and friendly staff. I highly recommend! My favorite is "The Lucky". read more

Let me start off by saying the main reason I'm giving Funchal 4 stars is the SUSHI. Honestly, some of the best sushi around. Incredibly fresh and at such a good price (they have specials daily 1 roll and a soup). They also have brown rice if you prefer. However, do yourself a favor and steer clear of the sandwiches at this place. Tiny, unfulfilling and weak. And at $8 for a sandwich??? No thanks. The salads are decent. But the SUSHI?? Awesome. read more

Really cute place. Food is good just a little upset that they didn't have real bacon when I went. Like slab bacon. They had the kind of bacon that probably comes cooked already which is not what you expect from a cute little place like this. Their French toast was great and the staff was friendly. I would recommend this place read more

The lady who works the register always seems to have a attitude, & not very welcoming when you approach her. Food is good just one of their employees needs to work in her customer service skills. As a manager myself I know that type of attitude isn't acceptable in my work place so I don't understand why it's allowed in other places especially when you're handling customers . read more

Stopped in here after a morning 'field trip' with my land use planning class - soup and paninis were just what we needed on a cold, windy November day. Folks behind the counter were very friendly. I got the cream of spinach soup and smoken salmon panini - yum! Loved the bench seating along the wall (though it's at a sort of awkward height from the tables) and the colorful ceramicware that our soups came in. read more

After a pleasant morning at the Pop! exhibit at Housatonic CC, we popped into this cute deli right across the street for a bite of lunch. It was delicious! The menu was varied and interesting, the food and service excellent. I had half and half - soup and 1/2 panini, my partner and a full panini. Just right for both of us. Would definitely go back next time we are in Bridgeport! read more

Had jury duty and needed a place for lunch. Nice place and ordered a chicken panini. Unfortunately , the bread is wrong for it and they didn't cook it long enough as it was cold. More like a sandwich on toasted bread. Edible but nothing more. read more

Driving up 95, wanted a deli close to the highway and Funchal Cafe popped up on my GPS. The staff/owners were so friendly! My friend and I got the steak and cheese wrap with brie and the Santa Fe turkey panino to share. We agreed that they were the best sandwiches we've ever had, melt-in-your-mouth brilliant flavor combinations. We now make jalapeno cream cheese at home! Had we noticed that they weren't open on Sundays, we would have changed our return travel plans. Hope you open a place in DC. read more

I absolutely love this place! The atmosphere is very cool and fun. They have lots of tables and chairs, and seating on trunks with pillows. In nice weather you can eat outside. Open at 7 for breakfast and lunch through 4 PM, (3 PM on Sat closed Sun), they have dozens of choices on their blackboard menu. Breakfasts have bagels, omelettes, French toast, and pancakes. Lunch offerings are soups, panini (the best in town!), salads, wraps, hot and cold sandwiches, and desserts. Don't see what you want on the menu? They will probably make it for you. Good selection of coffee, cappuccino, lattes, mochas, and cold drinks. They even cater! I have had 5 or 6 breakfasts and lunches here and have never been disappointed. Val, the owner, and his staff are very friendly and even if they are busy can get your order ready quickly. FREE parking and very close to I-95 and CT 8/25 make this a great place for breakfast, lunch, or meeting with friends for coffee. read more
