I cannot recommend this place for sanitization purposes. This is a perfect example of how a good business can destroy itself. I will never be back here. So our son just turned one. It was time for his first haircut. Between the wife and me one of us did not agree that he should continue to look awesome rocking a baby mullet. I was surprised to find that there were not that many kid haircut joints around. After searching Yelp for kid places and found nothing, I went to Google and found Fun Cuts. We walk in and our overwhelmed by the awesome kid friendly décor. This place had it made for kids. My son was so excited, he kept saying "ohhhhh" I was very pleased and excited for him to get his haircut somewhere fun! They had a typical up-sale of a "First Haircut" card with the time and date and a place to save some of the hair. In typical first parents fashion we took the extra 5 dollar charge. We go to sit down in his airplane chair and the lady brings over a small bin full of toys.....and a bunch of other nasty crap in it. There were chunks of food, some liquid stuff, sticky balls of something, and not to mention a TON of random hair clippings. I quickly grabbed it and got one of his own toys for him to play with. The haircut went smooth, he did not cry, and he did not complain. The lady did a great job. As he was getting his cut, I noticed the other lady going around cleaning the other stations. Each station had their own nasty toy bin, she would grab the bin, dump the toys ON THE FLOOR, and hit the bottom of the bin to get all the junk out. She would than pick up the toys off THE FLOOR and hit them against each other to get the remainder junk off them. I am so glad we did not let him touch those toys, we are not the parents that put our child in a bubble, however, we also are not the type to trust everything as safe. I mean, think of what they do when customers are not around....SCARY. So after the haircut the lady was getting ready to take his picture for his "First Haircut" card, and of course the camera doesn't work, big deal, we just opted out of that option. I was additionally annoyed when she asked what kind of tip I would be leaving, so the tip I left her was to be more sanitary...But then out loud I said 5 bucks, but seriously why can't you find out after I give you my receipt. It was a good haircut; however, I cannot recommend this place due to the obvious lack of basic sanitary concern. read more

Literally the worst experience ever here. There is an old grey haired lady named Doris who treats the kids terrible. Talked down to my 8 year old, got in his face, and made him cry. Never returning. read more

This was my first time taking my girls here and to be honest it will be absolutely the last time I will Not give this place any business.. What was supposed to be a fun day turned into a horrible one due to Dorris.. She is shady as hell when it came to the payment. I can understand charging extra for my one who has long hair but the comments she made was outrageous not to mention I asked her to take 1/2 inch to a inch off.. When I looked at the floor there was no hair. She told me its because it was thin.. This child has dark hair. So not only did she not cut her hair, I was chargedc30 bucks for the supposed cut. Then she had also changed the price on the other 2 girls hair cut cause she said one had thick hair and the other was long..the others hair isnt even to the middle of her back. But again I was charged extra for all 3 girls. Plus extra for the 2 that got braids. She also tried saying my little boy had his haircut there which he absolutely did not.. His hair was done someplace else by someone I trust.. Dorris also made the comment to me when she was brushing the hair of the 3rd one that the haircuts were easier to do on boys.. I think she was upset because she was asked to do the braid in my girls hair instead of doing a cut on a little boy.. She also never blow dried the 3rd childs hair because that takes to much time.. Although the other 2 girls had it done to them. I was planning on paying for the girls to have a special day so its not to much about the money in a way.. Its about the all of a sudden adding more money and talking to me the way she did.. She made my little feel bad for having her hair done. I am extremely upset over paying 30 bucks for a haircut that never happened. I asked for the owners name and number only to be given an 800 number that no one picks up.. I am so freakin mad over all this. I want the money back for the 1 cut that never happened..I also think she needs to appologize to my 5 yr old that she treated like crap.. Again we will NEVER go back to this place. I hope the owner reaches out and fixes this situation. I am also filing with BBB due to the treatment and fake haircut.. You all need to make this right read more

Cute place. My son is 13 months and his hair was past the point of me trimming it up myself. No appts- only walk-ins. Doris did his haircut. She was great with him and his hair looks really good! Pricey! $19 for an under 2 haircut. Plus it was my sons first so we did pay the extra $6 for a card with the date and a picture (not a good pic but eh) and a lock of his hair. Add on a tip and wow- that's as much as I pay for mine. read more

My sons very first hair cut and they did amazing! His hair looked great and they interacted with him so he wasn't scared!

They were great! Great atmosphere for kids. Took my son in for his first haircut and they did an amazing job. 10/10 would recommend !!

Beware!!! I've been coming to this place the last few times for my daughters. Today is the last time I will be coming here. My daughter got her haircut by Doris. She's seen her before, but this time at checkout she tells me her haircut will be an additional $14 for having "long hair." Before the haircut, my daughters hair length was a little below the shoulders. She got 2 inches cut off and Doris insisted she had long hair and there will be an upcharge of $14. How is charging an extra $14 on top of the $26 base haircut price even reasonable. She definitely is just trying to charge extra and make an excuse of my daughter having "long hair." I've never heard of hair right below shoulder length being considered "long hair" and cutting two inches off should cost extra. Absolutely ridiculous and unheard of. If Doris was planning on charging this extra amount, she should've let me know beforehand. I confirmed with another stylist my daughters haircut price will be $26 because we've had price issues before. The lady at the front desk said yes to $26. I confronted the lady who confirmed the $26 price, but she denied saying it. None of the workers here seem to be honest. I believe Doris pockets the extra money that she is charging customers. We will never come back to this dishonest place. Management doesn't seem to exist or care too. read more

They never listen how you want them to cut hair and then the blame the toddler for moving why they screwed up. Please don't ever go here

I've been looking for a place to get my son's haircut so I don't have to drive all the way up to Seattle. This place was so great! Minh cut my son's hair and he loved it. She was super friendly and really great with him. There was an awesome play area to play in before and after the haircut and then he got to watch a movie while he sat in a firetruck during his cut. I highly recommend this place and Minh. read more

Fun Kuts - Slide in the waiting area - Hair Salons Near Me - Tacoma, Washington

This was my 3rd time at the salon with my kids and it has been fine until today. We are never coming back.  We walked in with our 14 month old and was told 45 minutes to wait. So 45 minutes is already way too long for a small child to wait. But we did it and regret it. It took nearly TWO HOURS to get my son his 6 minute haircut! We wasted our entire afternoon and my son was a mess by the time we finally got him a cut. I spoke to two different women who had TERRIBLE customer service.  This is what I was told: "I didn't tell you the wait was 45 minutes, someone else did." "You should have came earlier in the day." "I don't know what to tell you." Excuse me? How about "I'm sorry for the experience" for starters! Did we get offered a discount or free future cut? Of course not! We paid over $20 for a standard cut (no wash) which is overpriced. I warned several customers coming in how long we waited and they did exactly what I should have.... Leave. read more

I almost want to give this place a 1 but I'll go with a 2 just because the idea of the place is smart, they just fail in all the other areas. No appointments just walk ins and the price is pretty hefty! $20 for a haircut that consisted on just a scissor cut aka trim and not the style I requested at all....our stylist seemed nervous, which I can understand but being that she cuts kiddos hair all day I would think she would be a bit more confident? As stated in previous reviews the place could use some cleaning, I saw the bin of toys (&hair) and had to monitor what he picked up. Did I mention the stylist snipped her hand and got blood on my sons shirt? Yuck! read more

I've been going to this place since my kids were 3 and we only keep coming back because one of my kiddos in the spectrum really needs the consistency. But I'm now ready to transition him to another place. I've totally had it with the bad apple that works there. I'm not sure what the owner is thinking by allowing this person to work with and around kids. I'm speaking of the older lady with gray hair I believe her name is Doris. We avoid her because she's rude and tactless and always has been for the last 5 years we've been going. We went in yesterday and let her cut only one of our kids' hair. She did fine with my son but was so disgustingly rude to the other stylist working there. You could cut the tension with a knife. She snapped at her and talked about her to me as if she wasn't right there. Can whoever owns this place reach out to me and explain why this is being allowed to continue? Unless she owns the place then never mind, I implore the other stylist to quit. Nothing is worth such disgusting behavior. read more

My husband and I went in 45 min before closing, calling ahead to make sure they weren't too busy. Got there and were greeted right away. A minute or two after checking in we were able to get my 9month old son seated and ready for his first haircut. I was pretty anxious as I didn't know how my son would react, but the hairdresser was totally professional and reassured me she had lots of experience and I could tell quickly she knew what she was doing. She spent some time interacting with my son, playing and singing with him so he could get familiarized with her. Without much fanfare she wet his hair and began snipping here and there with scissors. Oh, of course before the cut she also asked us what kind of style we wanted. My son started fussing and crying a bit midway through the cut, but that was to be expected. She lined his neck with two capes which pretty much prevented any hair from going onto his neck. She used clippers and finished the cut with trimmers on the edge. The haircut was fast and efficient! We had a great experience. My only hesitation is the price, but you pay for the atmosphere as well and this place had all the cool cars and toys and stuff for kids so I actually think it's a good price for what it is. I just wish there was a place with similar service without all the toys and such so the price could be cheaper but couldn't find one. read more

Usually we go to a more upscale one in Seattle but everything was booked due to Easter and I couldn't get in anywhere. This place is fast, convenient, and half the salon is a kids playground. Betty is awesome! She's so sweet and patient. My 18month old boy was crying and squirmy half the time and Betty just kept rolling with it and cutting. She even listened to all my hubs picky request and the boys hair came out super cute. Look people. This is a kids hair cutting place. If the hair is outta of his face then I'm happy. read more

I thought it would be fun to get my sons hair cut at a fun kid friendly place. We walked and were greeted. My son was into all of the toys around. He sat in the Thomas seat and loved it while Thomas and friend was playing on the tv. The hairstylist used shears first then moved to clipper to edge my sons neck/ear line. I noticed him moving his head away every time she used the clippers. I thought he was bothered by the buzzing noise but when I took a closer look he was cut multiple times by the clippers. You can see the dotted line four times a crossed my sons neck. He had a few nicks on his ears. I was very upset that the hair stylist didn't stop when the first accident happened. No apologies were stated at all. She just called the manager over (Minh). She made it worst by totally disregarding my sons was cut and bleeding by saying well was the haircut nice? I nearly lost it on her. I wanted to leave but she was tried to change me full price and gave me a punch card. I said no way. I was fully disappointed with how that situation was handled. I felt the staff didn't care about my child being cut and bleeding. read more

Will not be returning. They don't like it when you ask them to do scissor cuts. Apparently they only know how to cut hair super short. If I am paying you $23 per kid, you cut my kid's hair how I request it to be cut. I am paying YOU for a service. I don't need you telling me that it's faster and easier to use clippers. Also, I could do without the rude remarks (mainly from the hairdresser with the shorter gray hair). She is consistently rude. Last visit. Don't recommend this place at all. read more

First time here and we lucked out! There was no wait much to the dismay of our 15 month old (he wanted to play with the toys). The lady who did his hair did amazing. She listened to us and was very patient giving him toys, snacks and even playing with him. It was a little over $20 but definitely not bad for everything they provide. Its totally worth it. We will be going back. read more

The "old lady" everyone below is referring to is Doris. Short patience and looked annoyed with anything I asked, and defensive when I requested she texture my sons hair. Rushed me to change my sons diaper and scolded me for taking 2 tissues instead of 1 to wipe his nose. Last time we are going to Fun Kuts even if the candy and toys help as a distraction for a toddler. read more

This is the only place to go for your littles. So cute. The staff knows what they are doing and great with kids. LOVE

What a fun experience for kids they have created!! We went in for a walk in after seeing pictures online and it lived up to expectations. After signing in our three kiddos were off to play with blocks, toy cars, video games and slide off the castle/pirate ship. There was plenty of staff working and we managed to get all 3 kids back at the same time. There are brightly colored stars everywhere. The staff is so great with the children. There are fun TV's with cartoons, toys, animal crackers and suckers to keep your little one happy and distracted, not to mention the fun little car/plane/boat they get to sit in. They make sure to know how you'd like their hair and even double check. They have so much patience and are so polite. I can already tell this is just the first of many great cuts at fun kits. read more

Will never go back that is for sure, I was not inform they use razor instead of scissor and when I asked she said its dangerous to use scissor well I don't think so coz Cool Cuts do. He just suddenly shave it and his like making it in hurry coz my son was freaking out screaming. I even have to help her control my son's head coz I'm scared she might shave my son's ears. Me and my husband got so stressed. At the end you can see it was not done clean and the way I wanted. Some of the sides is long. I suggest she need more training on handling kids doing haircut. Terrible experience. read more

Love this place. Doris did a fantastic job with my autistic grandson. She did an excellent job, took the extra time needed with my grandson, and cut his hair how I wanted. I have tried this place a few times. It is expensive to get your kid's hair cut here, which I am fine with since I am expecting them to be very good at their job. Boy was I wrong. I thought the first few times were flukes but this last time I was proved to be right. These people are horrible hairstylist that can only do the same hairstyle on all the kids and you walk away with a horrible haircut. I brought my child there in fear I would mess it up. But the hairstylist didn't listen to a word I told her. And she proceed to cut the hair the only a style I have ever seen at this place. I even told her that wasn't what I wanted but it was too late and she just said "ya it's fine" I am so upset and now I have to live with an ugly haircut on my child. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE. You will regret it. read more

This is my first review ever but absolutely feel like i need to leave this here. Today was my 1yr olds second hair cut. First haircut went great with a very friendly lady not sure her name. We were very happy but this time around an older lady with gray hair did my sons hair and let me just say what an absolute nightmare. Not sure if she was in a bad mood but she seemes very annoyed from the beginning because my son was crying and not wanting to sit down. The whole time she was forcefully holding down my one year old by the face. And I would kindly move it away and try to hold him still. She repeatedly held him forcefully by the face/forehead. When she was almost done we couldn't take it anymore and told her that was good enough. She did not want us to pick him up because she said he had a lot of hair and she was going to wipe it. She wiped his face multiple times with a towel full of hair leaving his mouth full of hair. When I go to unstrap him he was cinched so tight to his stomach!! Just an absolute nightmare!!! So if you're thinking of going to this place just watch how they treat your children. Like I said first lady was great, really nice and patient. But this older gray hair lady was just an absolute nightmare! read more

This place and its owners/employees are wonderful!! Kim cut my 4 year old daughters hair perfectly and sooooo quickly. I didn't get the other gals name but she did a great job on my husbands hair too. There were tons of toys to keep her and my 17 month old entertained during our surprisingly short visit. The ladies were very kind and good at what they do. As an added bonus, they give a little treat cup at the end. Awesome place, can't wait to come here again! read more

This is where I took my baby girl for her first haircut (pixie). It was a good cut, but a wee-bit pricey. I'm not going to complain, because I'd feel horrible paying any less. My baby turned her head right and left approximately 2,242 times in the duration of the 10 minute cut. Lots of toys to keep the kiddos entertained. I really don't think my daught would have went for it any other way. PS. Am I the only one who sometimes gets the first two letters of each word transposed? Cracks me up every time I drive by the sign. read more

Definitely coming back again. read more

Fun Kuts - Prices of services - Hair Salons Near Me - Tacoma, Washington

While I agree with others that $19 is a bit more than I would like to spend on a 2 year old, I am happy with their service. I've been twice now and have been pleased with the haircuts both times (had different stylists both times). It's walkin only so even though I had to wait a bit, there was plenty of things to keep my son entertained during the wait. The first time he loved sitting in Thomas the tank and didn't fuss a bit. The second time, he was quite a bit more fussy and I have to give credit to the stylist for doing a quick but thorough job! Will probably keep coming despite the cost since I can't find anything else that I'm really unhappy with :) read more

Love this place! My son's favorite place to go for haircuts. They are quick and are on point with the style I show them. Ive been to lots of salons and have even paid upwards $50/60 for his haircuts. High end salons take wayyyyy too long and are not efficient with children. Here, his haircuts take approx 15 mins but looks AMAZING! love love love read more

Can't say enough great things about our first visit-- I have four children under the age of 10 and this has been BY FAR the best haircut experience I've ever had. The decor and toys are amazing, and the ladies are beyond kid friendly. My two youngest never got bored the entire time. Theres play equipment, activity tables, multiple PS2 stations, snacks, cartoons and every chair is something fun (planes, trains, boats). The cut itself was the best either of my boys have ever had, the stylist was straight up talented and FAST. She was great about consulting me throughout. My two year old is of course very active and all, yet she somehow manages to get a perfect haircut on a moving tiny head, magic. To address the sanitary concerns some reviewers mentioned-- the place was 100% spotless upon my visit, BUT... I did notice hair falling into the toy bins and did wonder if it was difficult to clean it well etc. but we went through two bins and both were spotless, the toys cleaner than ones at the Dr's. But the "hair in the bins" madness is all for a great reason, the stylists use the toy bins to manipulate your child's head for the cuts, for example she picks a small one up, shows it to child then quickly throws it back in which gets the child to look down at a sharp angle, allowing easy access for trimming the lower neck area. Parents could always decline the bins if worried, im sure they could accommodate. Upsells were soft and we took every one to be honest, because they were reasonably priced and needed (special tangle brush, hair serum) plus I was so happy with the service was happy to support them. Personally I was aware of the cost but it was well worth it to me. No lines, no appts, no rushing, no attitude, great cut, super kid friendly. Definitely going back. read more

Took my son 16 months for his first real haircut. He had fun with all the toys and tvs had it not been for another kid crying he would have never made a peep. Walked in and no wait but $19 is pricey for under 2 especially because he wasn't difficult and we hardly cut any hair off. I used a debit card and just realized they charged me twice so I'll update how long it takes to get all this fixed. read more

The first time I took my 17mo son here (sept) he got a really nice haircut and it took only about 10 minutes. I was very pleased with everything. The second time I took him here which was last week his hair cut took probably 20 minutes or more (not fun with a toddler!) and it looked awful. I tried to have her fix it while we were there but it seemed like she was just making it worse and my son was ready to be done. It was two different people who cut his hair but I feel like you really have to choosy about who you see here. Because of the inconsistency I'm not sure I'll be back, I think we will stick with Wild Child salon because you can schedule appointments there and I know what I'm getting. read more
