Right off the bat, Jonah was a great tour guide and driver. Made us feel safe, relaxed and never in a hurry to get to the next location. He was knowledgeable on a few interesting tid bits for every spot that did not overwhelm us with facts. The morning hike really was the best way to start the day. Seeing the beauty of sunrise and the feel for the islands natural scenery really helped us prepare for the day. Rest of the day was beaches and attractions that helped us see that even the small spots on the islands have different levels of relaxation where you could feel the distinction between locations. It did not feel like one big island with the same location feel like in other trips. When I look back at the location and times we were allowed, I think it was perfect. had enough time to get back home and relax then sleep. Excellent tour guide. Picked us up on time. Pointed out things along the drive as we headed to get our equipment. No problems getting our snorkel gear and beach mat. Then the driver took us over to Hanauma Bay and was great about pointing out more stuff along the drive. I took the tram down to the beach, while the kids walked. We were picked up on time. Dropped off gear and headed back to hotel with driver pointing out stuff about the island along the way. So nice to have friendly knowledgeable drivers. Great trip, worth the money. May 18, 2019 If it is hot- rent an umbrella from them. Make sure you have plenty of water and bring your own food. Go to Hanauma review for info about the park. If you are carrying a lot of stuff for $2.50 (as many rides as you need) it is well worth it. No drinks or food for sale at bottom of bay. The bay itself does not have a lot of fish to explore. The sun HOT! no real shaded areas. Winds can be high. Food expensive and just okay. Bring your own. read more

Jonah was amazing! He was so passionate about the island, and gave us so much information. I saw other tour buses with tons of people. I can't imagine waiting for 40 people to get off at each stop. We only had 8 people in a van, which was perfect. My Husband and I sat right behind Jonah, and he answered a million questions from us! LOL! This is a MUST DO on your first day. We rented a Jeep the next day and went back to alot of the beautiful beaches. Book this trip! You will love it! read more

I have to admit that, after reading the reviews below, I was hesitant to book a package through HOP. However, I took the plunge and booked the Hanauma Bay snorkeling tour (unguided) via phone for my husband, two kids and myself. HOP picked us up promptly at our hotel in a comfortable shuttle bus. Additional passengers were picked up, then we all headed to HOP's office to pick up snorkeling gear, life vests, beach chairs/umbrella, cooler and lunches (Subway sandwiches, chips and drinks). A taxi then dropped us off at Hanauma Bay (about a 10 minute drive). From hotel pickup to equipment setup/pickup to Hanauma Bay dropoff and return trip pickup/hotel dropoff, everything was handled with professionalism, friendliness and efficiency. We had a fantastic time at Hanauma Bay, in no small part due to relying on HOP for providing us with everything we needed to be able to get the fullest enjoyment out of our trip. I don't write many reviews, but feel that it is necessary in this case since we had a great experience with HOP and to provide insight on a different very positive experience that we had with HOP (compared to what the reviewers below experienced). Not even worth one star. Do not patronize this business. They're not technically a scam...but they are not what they advertise. They are not a tour. They provide terrible gear and a ride, that's all. If you want to go to Hanauma, and don't own snorkel gear, go buy one at Safeway or go straight to Hanauma Bay and rent it there. I recently had a terrible experience here, came close to ruining the day. They make you watch videos...which are basically adds for the shop, before renting. Their gear is the cheapest, worst gear...and they're only trying to get you to pay more for an "upgrade". If you're at all a capable tourist or traveller you do not need to go through this terrible experience. Complete waste of money, they're simply taking advantage of tourists who don't know better. I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. If you thought this was a "tour," you didn't read up properly. Jonah and his crew delivered everything as promised! The shuttle from the Aston Waikiki Beach was right on time. The equipment was fine. If you want to pack the gear home with you -- thinking you will use it enough when you get home -- feel free to buy your own. It's rental gear! The taxi down to the beach was prompt and friendly, as well. HINT: Bring your own food beforehand! There is very little available at a reasonable price once you get to Hanauma Bay. My husband and I were visiting Hawaii for the first time for our anniversary and never snorkeled before so we went with HOP. Our excursion was the day of our anniversary and it was the best experience. For cost per person you get a bus from your hotel to their office, all the gear and training, a bus from their office to the Hanauma Bay and back again. Great value and great experience. I have snorkeled Hanauma Bay a couple time before on my own but had no vehicle this visit with my gf for her first time in Hawaii. So I booked this tour and it turned out great! The staff at HOP was fantastic! One of the snorkels was broken and when I brought it to their attention upon my return, they refunded my cost. What a great way to keep your customers! Best Hanauma Snorkeling Adventure ever! We arrived in Waikiki one week ago and now I'm rushing my feet to write me impressions here as I have found the guys from Hop Tours very helpful and nice people. Hop Tours picked us up from hotel in the morning and made our day with full snorkeling tours in the crystal clean waters of the shore. The weather was just gorgeous and not as hot as expected so it was excellent for our first adventure at Oahu. Hawaiian Ocean Promotions also offered us an underwater camera and we have got the memory full of nice underwater pictures. Too bad I cannot upload here some of the pictures, may of them are unbelievable as we were very close to the fishes. Probably our son have had the most of the fun as he just started recently to swim and because the water was so clear he started to swim underwater too. It is something beautiful and peaceful with this Hawaiian landscapes. We will return! Thanks guys! :) read more

Great tour easonably priced, they gave us a mini tour of the place while on the pick up bus. Super nice crew. I was doing snorkeling first time and the lady explained everything quiet patiently. To top it all I had lost my phone on the bus on my way back and they were kind enough to come back to drop the phone for me. read more

It's sickening to hear other people complaining about the tours that they booked, because if you book through an agent directly they do have the full information as we did, but if you don't , then blame the agent you booked with, for not letting you know. my family and i had a great time and experience with this tour guys, we also had Hawaiian music scerenated to us, and learned a bit of Hawaiian. so even if I rated it 3 stars, they did what they needed to do for us, and I definately would recommend this tour company to all, and you decide yourself. for real. they are a great bunch of local people working there, and they are very watchful, that you are taking cared of. thank you Hawaiian Ocean Promotions for a very great time while under you care. all the way from Washington D.C. A possible scam. Perhaps it's unfair for me to give them one star, since I never actually went on their Hanauma Bay snorkel tour. Instead, I booked a reservation through their website 2 days in advance, and then was ready to go snorkeling the first day of my vacation in Waikiki. They were supposed to pick us up from our hotel at 10:20. At 10:30, no one had shown up, so I called their number (it took two calls before someone actually answered). The woman on the other end claimed to have NO RECORD of my reservation, even though I was holding the email confirmation in my hand and my credit card had already been charged. She then went on for about 5 minutes about how it was not personally her fault, since the website had never forwarded our reservation to their store. (so what's the point of their website?) She said she would look into it and call me back, but they would not be able to take us that day since all the buses had left already. An hour later, I got a voice message saying "We found your reservation, sorry for not picking you up, but we refunded your money and call if you have any questions." At the minimum, I think they should have offered to comp a rescheduled trip since they wasted a morning of our vacation, but apparently they show no such courtesy. If you want to arrange transportation for a snorkel trip to Hanauma Bay, do not use this company. While we were waiting, at least 5 other tour companies came to pick up customers-- go with one of them instead. At the very least, those other companies will actually give you what they charged your credit card for. read more

We booked our Hanuma Bay snorkeling trip through HOP via credit card rewards. We had an awesome time, and both of our drivers were absolutely fantastic. They shared so much information about the area and Hawaiian culture that it made the booking worth it. Yes, you can go to Hanuma Bay and rent there, but if you don't have a car and want to learn a little on your way there, I recommend it! All of our gear was fine and we didn't require any upgrades. We packed food, towels, water shoes etc. as well. read more
