Getting around Waikiki can be a hassle. Between one-way streets, heavy traffic, and crowds of pedestrians who don't always follow the signals, driving there isn't my idea of fun -- not to mention most hotels charge $50 or more per night for parking. That's why I found the Waikiki Trolley Hop-On Hop-Off such a great option for getting around. I bought the All-Line 4-Day pass and rode every route except the Pink Line (the shopping line). It turned out to be a great way to explore -- from hiking Diamond Head, to taking in the coastline and blowhole views, to getting to the KCC Farmer's Market on Saturday morning. Since I'm not much of a shopper, skipping the Pink Line was no loss for me. The drivers added a lot to the experience -- they gave light commentary along the way, pointed out landmarks, and were always willing to answer questions. If I had to nitpick, I'd say real-time schedule tracking would make things even better, and it would be nice if the Blue Line added a couple more stops, especially one at Hanauma Bay. Overall, though, it's a convenient, affordable, and enjoyable way to see the highlights of Waikiki without dealing with the stress of driving and parking. read more

Poor Communications: from ilikai bus stop saw several busses but none stopped at our stop. No lidee schedule on line. Had to wander around and ask by stakes for help. Was told to use s code to get a discount but there was no place to put s code, no one responded to my complaint wen site is very slow. I'll update as this progresses. Had a terrific ride on the Waikiki trolley hop-on hop-off. Our drivers on the red line were knowledgeable and excellent drivers. Had a great tour on the Blue Line today! I realized though that this is a better activity to start in the morning; I only had half an hour at my stop, oops. I enjoyed it regardless! Don't be afraid to share more of the cultural and historic importance of things. I really enjoyed that part, but there were a couple of comments like "people get offended when we share this." That sounds like a them problem! I will say it was a little weird getting rained on inside the trolly and the winds were too strong for me to handle at times. Some kind of window cover upgrade might be a good thing to consider too. ;) read more

Best $6 deal for all day bus ride. Pink Line 1-Day Pass is the ticket. Dude who was driving was hilarious. Not only could "Dude" drive, he was very good with greeting people with his multi-natural ability to bs. He always acknowledged his passengers as well as the many tourist along his route. We bought a one-day pass for the Red-Line (historic route in downtown Waikiki). We jumped on the first bus at 10:00. Elena was our driver and guide. She did a great job sharing information about the sights along the route. Our only hesitation before recommending the trolley if the frequency of the route. If you get off, the next bus isn't for another hour. Hop-on/Hop-off buses we've used in other cities had a greater frequency. Also, some of the trolleys we saw later were full with riders standing. A day pass is $34/person for a single line. read more

I rode on the Green Line to Diamond Head, and back. It was a rainy day, but our tour guide made sure we had rain ponchos for everyone. We were a little ahead of our schedule so we stopped at the beautiful Kahala Lookout and our driver even took individual photos of us with a beautiful background. There was no narration on our Green Line Tour. In years past we've taken both the Red Line and Blue Line Tours and really enjoyed the narration. It was a great way to see the island and get insights into Hawaiian culture, history, and landmarks.  So when we needed to get to another part of Waikiki, and didn't want to walk, I thought "let's take the Green Line". Sure it's $40, but we'll have a nice, educational, scenic tour. What a mistake! Two employees on board and never a word spoken. It was nothing beyond simple transportation. And expensive simple transportation at that. We could have done the same trip in a ride share for $12 instead of $40. read more

The only good line is the pink line: 15 minutes between trolleys, but start kind of late, 10am. The rest (blue/red/green) are 1 hour in between with one short 10-minute stop. There is just too much time between hop off and next hop on. read more

Shannon was our tour guide, and he was an absolute gem! He pointed out all of the beautiful, scenic spots with plenty of warning to get ready if you wanted to take a photo. He was vastly knowledgeable about the relevant pop culture things in the different areas we drove by, even knowing what episode a street/neighborhood/restaurant was referenced in. I can't speak for any of the other drivers or guides but I can say Shannon was absolutely stellar, funny, knowledgeable, and kind. I would 100% do this again, and he made it so enjoyable I could've sat on that trolley all day long! read more

Love love love! You get on at the DFS duty free building. There is a schedule and I got on the redline tour. The last redline tour is 4pm and lasted for two hours. They have tours that are 2 hours, 1 hour, the short one was green line that circles the shopping Waikiki area and blue line goes to diamond head. I got so much interesting history and info about Hawaii. We stopped at the national cemetery, Chinatown, the pier where historic coast guard was. The guide was amazing! Will recommend to anyone! read more

While traveling on the island, myself and three friends. We decided to break away from our travel group and hope on the "Blue Trolly' for a tour. OMG! The views were amazing. Our driver Leo, hands down was awesome. He was engaging with the riders and he knew everything about his route. Leo spoke a lot about his his family especially his daughter. He really loves his daughter. He told us about their travels around the island and how they love to surf together. We hopped off at the plaza for lunch at Fatboy's and we had those things that look like donuts but are not donuts. We ended up at Kokonuts for shaved ice and back on the trolley with Leo as our driver. Awesome adventure. read more

GREAT way to get around and see the island, tour guides are knowledgeable, friendly and all-around AWESOME on every line that we jumped a ride on. This is a MUST way to see, tour and besides walking about town, learn about sights and history. The blue line was hands down the best as we saw whales on our visit in March. Our tour guide/driver RJ stayed on schedule but gave us time at different stops so that we could get that perfect photo-op when we arrived or just take in the scenery. Purchasing the 7-Day Multi-line Pass was well worth it for our trip to Waikiki as we were able to hop-on and hop-off the different trolley routes easily and each guide/driver was just as friendly and knowledgeable as the last. We will definitely be utilizing Waikiki Trolley again! read more

It is not super expensive but at the same time a waste of money. We did the redline which takes you to the old part of the city. The highlight was going to the military cemetery, but we were not allowed to stop and get out and walk around. There were not enough seats and elderly people had to stand as strap hangers for nearly 2 hours. We stopped for "photograph opportunities " but seemed more like an opportunity for the driver to get a smoke. We took the rickety trolley our only choice at that time and not the double-decker bus which I imagine is much better. we drove through areas that were extremely sketchy by any measure. Yes, we did drive by the governor's mansion and the former royal Palace but all in all not very interesting. on the way back, we also stopped several times as if it were a rideshare and not a tour, including a stop at the cruise ship terminal, which was kind of strange. read more

We did the Blue line tour from the Duke Statue in Honolulu. The driver Big John was a true pure Hawaiian with that corny sense of humor had ice cream and popcorn suppso to be a thing her e! And was great. A must do! read more

Fun way to get around the city & see sights on open-air Trolley. There are 4 lines - for sightseeing, shopping - that run on pretty regular rounds, about an hour or so. To use as a regular transit, plan where you want to get off, and make sure you can fit in whatever you want to do in between rounds. I took the Green line to Diamondhead - the hike is worth the trip. The hike took about 50 minutes, so just enough to miss the on-the-hour Trolley pick ups. Either wallk faster or settle in to the 2 hour journey.  (Uber/cab are available if impatient.) Non-Hawaii residents have to make reservations for entry to crater hiking (online reservations, $5/person.) Red Line Nice tour around the city - A few stops, they pause long enough to jump off & take a few pics, including stop at Palace and King Kamehameha statue Tip - check out the routes & determine how much you will actually ride. I overestimated how much I would wander around on sightseeing, and bought the 4-day, all line ticket. I only used Red & Green Line, 2 separate days but 2- day packages isnt an option. I think it was still more economical for the 4 day package? read more

Do the drivers have to pass a test? Several times I've been on the Pink Line and the drivers have road rage, speeding, driving aggressively, braking hard, antagonizing the drivers in front of them by continuously inching forward and braking hard. If they realize that it makes for an uncomfortable ride for the passengers, particularly on the top level, they don't seem to care. They are often rude to the Japanese tourists, yelling at them, telling them to hurry up so that they can get home. It makes for such an unpleasant experience. read more

Started off the Red Line tour with Turk, who perfectly set the tone for this fun and educational experience. He literally made us feel like family, thank you cousin Turk! When we hopped back on at the halfway mark, we finished the tour with Chuck. There was an accident during his tour but even afterwards, Chuck was well-composed, professional, yet still funny and entertaining.
