We tried the casual, 60-min omakase at Fuku Omakase. It's a small space and they book 60-min sessions every hour, so when you arrive, you wait in the small space right behind guests sitting and dining at the sushi counter. The service was great. It's BYOB, which I'd forgotten, but they had extra sake, which they kindly served us. There are some seats where the air conditioner blows directly, but we were sitting in the corner and we were ok. With one of the corner seats, because there is distance between the sushi chef and your plate, they put the sushi on another plate for you to take and put on your plate--which felt a bit odd. The sushi was good. They put on fancy toppings like foie gras and caviar, which I actually would prefer without, and for them to make the overall price lower. I also didn't love the A5 Wagyu Beef sushi. (and they used the term "cow" on their menu, which was unusual) But the Botan Ebi with Uni was so delicious. And we had a Toro Taku hand roll instead of their usual hand roll, which I also enjoyed. Overall, we had a good experience. If you're looking for a quick sushi meal with a variety of flavors, you could give it a try.

Cozy spot, friendly service, well paired pieces. My favorites were the foie gras on salmon and gindara (sable fish) - it was so buttery! $75 for the 13 piece tasting menu is a good deal. The uni is also fro hokkaido and tasted sweet and fresh. They also have sake on the house upon request or its BYOB.

Fuku Omakase was a decent experience overall. The courses were well-executed, the fish was fresh, and everything was generally good. However, a few details held the meal back from being truly memorable. One issue we had was the rice. It was overcooked and too soft, which affected the texture and balance of the sushi. Additionally, the atmosphere was not as refined as expected. The background music was TOO loud, which seemed to encourage customers to raise their voices just to be heard. It made the space feel more chaotic than relaxing. Fuku has potential, but a few adjustments--especially to the rice and the ambiance--would make a big difference.

This omakase spot was INCREDIBLE. This was our first stop in NYC on a recent trip, and it did not disappoint. The omakase consisted of 13 courses, including uni, wagyu, and otoro. My favorite nigiri had to be the spanish mackerel, the botan ebi with uni, the salmon with foie gras, the wagyu, and the otoro with caviar. However, to be real, everything was insanely delicious. The best part is that you can continue to order more sushi a la carte after the omakase is done. We decided not to because we wanted to get a little snackie elsewhere later that evening, but I totally would have if we didn't have plans. The chef spoke to us throughout the omakase experience, and the server made sure that our drinks were filled throughout. The chef also let us know that we were able to "slow down" the courses if we wanted - we liked the pace but liked that consideration. The place itself is pretty intimate (it only seats about 9 people I believe). It's small but doesn't feel too cramped! Not a lot of "decor" but I didn't mind. I loved this place and would 100% recommend. I just wish I lived in NYC so I could go here all the time. Also, the price ($75 for the 13 courses) is so reasonable.

Such a good spot in the west village! $75 for 13 course is such a good deal and the pieces were all good! Loved the foie gras one! Pieces were all a good size with good rice to fish ratio. Bar seating and it's also BYOB! Chefs were great here! Had such a blast celebrating a birthday here and had such a good time! Definitely will come back!!!

3H Sunday in NYC, hot, hazy humid. We hate giving 5 star reviews because we'll probably never be able to get seating again, but it's well deserved. The highlight was Eric the Itamae with over 25 years of experience. He was professional, entertaining and doted over every preparation. The folks seated next to us were also friendly and engaging. Overall the ingredients were very fresh (usually not so much on a 3H Sunday in NYC) and the 13 pieces were more than enough to fill our sushi hankerings. Not the most extraordinary of exotic selections, but caviar, wagyu, foie gras and the premium ingredients were present. BYOB is AOK here with a cold, crisp sauvignon blanc from Marlborough as the perfect pairing. Relaxed, casual, and totally satisfying.

This was, BY FAR, the best priced omakase I've ever been to. The staff is THE most friendly and attentive. I simply cannot understate how bang-for-your-buck this place is. Also the BYOB policy is so cool! In terms of the quality of fish, this was probably the second-best place I've tried in a collection of over 10 omakase places. The selection of fish was great! The quality even more so. I thought the combinations (e.g. sea bream and yuzu lime salt, smoked mackerel and ginger scallion) were simple but well executed. Service blew us out of the water with a super attentive waitress who made sure our glasses were always full, and extremely friendly and knowledgeable chefs. Will be back for sure and will DEFINITELY be recommending this to all my friends. If you have any doubt about this place or are choosing between places, look no further!! TRY FUKU!!

We had a 9 person sushi bar seating for the omakase tasting. The tasting is 13 pieces for $75. They are so nice and funny & it is a show to watch the preparing of the sushi. You can watch them preparing each of the pieces while sitting at the bar. Each of the pieces was its own masterpiece with flavor & different from the next. My top favorite pieces were Botan Ebi w/ Uni, Hotate (scallop), Scottish Salmon w/ Foie Gras, & Otoro w/ Caviar. You could taste how fresh and the quality of everything. If you're still hungry after the 13 pieces, you can still order more a la cart. Overall we all had a fantastic experience & delicious dinner!

(Overall: A+) - Fuku Omakase is a sub $100 omakase in West Village that just blows expectations out of the water! I love that their menu tightropes between clean omakase that tastes great but also explores innovative flavors that are unique and ending up working well together. The staff are incredibly warm and kind, offering several free sake shots throughout the meal, and it was impressive to see their ability to adapt and innovate throughout the meal, even as my friend was getting a bit full. Highly recommend Fuku Omakase as well as their sister restaurant Shinzo Omakase which was also fantastic! (Kanpachi: A) - The scoring on the fish is masterfully beautiful and the scallion soy pairing is one that imparts necessary flavor to season the amberjack. (Madai: A) - Torching this piece was a smart move as the fish skin radiants in color and the slightly cooked exterior helps differentiate texture amongst the white fish. (Sawara: A) - Mackarel is usually not a well liked cut, but I was impressed that they were able to make this piece quite pleasant without having to cure it significantly; the smoke is subtle and does work well to build pleasant flavor with the ginger pairing. (Gindara: A) - Black Cod is always a favorite on the menu given its fattiness, especially for a white fish. Aside from the fact that this piece is a tad too salty, I was particularly impressed by the knife and blowtorch work to develop those beautiful hash marks. The yuzu kosho pairing also worked well for the fattier cut. (Botan Ebi: A) - This is a beautiful piece loved by most featuring two sweet shellfish sea urchin and sweet shrimp. Despite it not being uni season, I was impressed by the color of the uni, although the sweetness is definitely evident that its not in season. Nevertheless, this piece still tasted refreshingly fresh and not metallic. (Hotate: A) - This was the first time I saw a chef cut the scallop into two semi circles instead, but the presentation works and lime / charcoal salt is a tasty pairing as is beautiful. (Ankimo: A) - First time I've seen Monkfish Liver at a budget omakase, but I'm quite thrilled to see this as it is quite different and adds a mid-meal contrastive component that is quite pastey. The pickled radish and wasabi help significantly provide some complimentary flavors to cut through that heaviness in a pleasant way. (Scottish Salmon: A+) - This salmon seems less fatty than the other scottish variants I've had, but nevertheless the foie gras adds smoky fattiness to the fish to make a bite that is as rich and beautiful like the presentation. (Akami: A) - Even though this is lean bluefin tuna, the fish quality is high as you can still see the intricate marbling in the fish. The pickled radish adds some strong acidic flavors that help complement the tuna, and the chives are add some mild freshness as well. A minor presentational improvement could be to top the chives only on the side of the radish to not cover that beautiful pickle; a finer mince on the chives could work as well. (Chutoro: A+) - This is a beautiful piece that works so well as that acidic, spicy pickled wasabi helps contrast that fatty bluefin tuna so well to create a harmony between richness and flavor development. My only critique is that perhaps diagonally hashing the fish may fan out and look even more high class. (Otoro: S) - This is a piece were horizontal cut marks elevate the presentation; you can see the intricate charred parts of the fatty tuna to add some smokiness in contrast to the fat; the torch also provides the dish some diversity in texture and the caviar definitely adds elegance. The salt and wasabi seasoning is on point, as with all the other pieces. (A5 Wagyu: S) - The ultra thin slicing of the fatty beef shows impressive knife skills that doubles to create a beautiful torched crust and help exfoliate some of that excess fat in the meat. I liked how this piece was kept simple and beautiful with just minimalistic, but well seasoning to pronounce throughout. (Unagi: B) - This is a warm and comforting piece of eel that is in tact and with minimal bones. I would've liked to see some elevated flavor beyond just the grilled eel to help make this piece slightly more memorable, but still very tasty. -- Food: +1 Presentation: +1 Price: +1 Atmosphere: E Service: +2 Menu: +2 Overall: +7 A+ Insta/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

Fuku has one of the best-priced omakase deals in the city for only $75 with 13 different courses!it is a small space inside, but they have really talented chefs who work with quality ingredients and super fresh cuts of fish. Highlights of the courses for me were the Sawara and Otoro. I love mackerel and fatty tuna! The monkfish liver was super unique and was actually so soft like a pate. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would! The chef did a wonderful job at explaining each piece as he served it to us too.

Had a really lovely time here! The staff were warm and welcoming and the chefs were amazing. They're more on the chattier side, which we didn't mind. They informed us about the kind of omakase pieces we were served, as well as the parts of Japan and times of the year when the fish tastes best. My FAVORITE pieces were the A5 Wagyu, Fatty Bluefin Tuna, Salmon with Foie Gras, and SURPRISINGLY the Monkfish Liver!! The chef does a fantastic job at masking the thought that you're eating liver by torching the piece and brushing a hint of sauce over it - YUM! Overall, GREAT value for the quality of the fish and amount of pieces you get!! The reviews say it all.

The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

You pay on a handheld and they don't ask for tip for takeout. I love this process and truly wish more sushi restaurants in LA adopt the takeout box. The only one I know of is hefty but also $200 each lol, making Sanyuu's $69 omakase and $78 Everything don, not to mention the $30 giant salmon nigiri set, A STEAL! I enjoyed most of the pieces but I will say I don't like their amaebi or uni at all. I'm not sure what kind of uni is used here but it's the type with a very strong mineral flavor & aftertaste that I don't find enjoyable. We're spoiled by easy access to live spot prawns everywhere and fresh SB uni. Despite this, I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I lived in the city.

The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.
