I was sitting around and scrolling through UberEats when this gem popped out. I'm always super skeptical about sushi places, but this has to be the best around the area. I ordered the shrimp tempura, VolcaRoll, and the baked salmon roll. I didn't try anything raw, because I just don't trust delivery services to get here fast enough. Any who, I enjoyed the rolls. First time going to this sushi spot and I have to say that it was pretty good. I had the AYCE lunch here for only $19.95 and i have no complaints. This restaurant is a whole in the wall and is located in a small shopping center. As you will see in the pictures I took, the fish is very fresh and tasted really good. I highly recommend you try this sushi spot next time you're in Camarillo. Upon arrival, the ambiance is enjoyable. There is popular music, kind of overplayed music but the effort is there. We were seated pretty shortly, and ordered the AYCE. An affordable price for decent quality food, however, I did notice a bone in one of my salmon pieces. Some of the plates were chipped, which I'm sure this place isn't necessarily made of money, but definitely should be careful in case. It did take a bit to receive our food, we did notice some people were served before us when they arrived & were seated after us. My only other complaint would be that the customer service to be a bit better. Maybe a small smile or just a genuine kind approach would make a bigger difference than having an essence of not wanting to be there. If your employees look miserable, how should the customers feel? Outside of everything, I understand a smaller business trying to get by. Hard working, probably underpaid waiters/busboys who are probably on their 8-10hr of their shift. This place is cozy, and it has a calm energy to it. I recommend this place, as I think they're trying to get better. I went yesterday around 5pm, it was very empty in there, only one other group came in while I was there so I was a little apprehensive, but it was really good. I had a Poke Roll and some Sake and it was beyond amazing. The poke was perfect. My friend had vegetable rolls and other vegetarian options which she enjoyed. I would definitely come back. The only problem is that they don't do half rolls. I like to do all you can eat, but it's only worth it if you eat 3+ rolls. Ordered delivery during COVID-19. My salmon sushi had two large bones in it and I was shocked as I've never experienced this from a sushi restaurant before (check your fish!) The tuna sushi tasted off and had a weird smell to it. The only redeeming quality was the California roll which is really hard to mess up, anyway. I'm kinda new to the "order in advance only what you can eat and no more" concept, so I was caught unprepared when I started getting full after about half of what I'd ordered. You can't take it home and you will be charged. The rolls, Sushi and Sashimi were fresh and on point, large and delish! The server was so sweet and understood that I'd screwed up. But today we went and left even before our food came (they haven't even made it yet) they had 20 Togo orders that took priority over us. Bad service. The tables were very close together. My husband was basically sitting on the person behind him. The tent/tarp they had up was blowing on us and nothing but annoying. We ordered 3 soups. Only got one while another table who ordered after us got both of theirs. Won't be going back until the whole COVID thing is over. If we even choose to go back. We ended up going across the street to sushi fresh. Wayyyy better experience. They had a normal tent/tarp situation and rose fire things that keep you warm. While at the Camarillo Outlets, we were all craving some sushi. Looked for sushi restaurants via Yelp and fixed our sights on Fujiya. Value-seekers this is your spot to unleash your sushi beast! We went with the all-you-can-eat option for $23.00 ($18.00 for lunch) per person, which is a very value-friendly option. This is a great option if you plan on ordering at least 2 sushi rolls and a couple Japanese appetizers (edamame, miso soup, agedashi tofu, gyoza or seaweed salad). Two sushi rolls usually will usually cost one upwards of $20.00 at your standard sushi restaurant, so you're getting all your appetizers and additional sushi rolls for free. You get three rounds or attempts to put down as much sushi as you can. Start small because you pay for any unfinished rolls. We started with 2 rolls each, a round of some miso soup and a couple appetizers. I had the Golden Philly Roll (deep-fried cream cheese and salmon) and the Crazy Roll ( 5 kinds of fish, crab and tuna). The standouts were the Golden Philadelphia Roll, the Green Mussels and another tuna-topped roll whose name escapes me. Everything was fresh, fast and tasty. They go a little heavy with the eel sauce so be sure to keep that in mind if you don't like your sushi coated in sauce. Our server, Daisy, was super sweet. She walked us through the whole menu and all our available dinner options. She gave us lots of recommendations and was just wonderful. One of the few AYCE sushi joints in West Ventura County (The other is Sushi Fresh in Ventura). Located in Camarillo with nearest cross streets Arneil Rd. & Pickwick Dr. It's replaced the Cherry Blossom Inn Restaurant from back in the day (me & Wes S. seem to have grown up about the same time in Ventura County... Hawlaaa!!!). Cheaper dinner prices compared to Sushi Fresh, with age 11 & older $23.95, 6-10 y/o $10.95, & 2-5 y/o $5. They easily accommodated our party of 10. You are allowed 3 rounds of ordering from a fairly large selection of sushi options & appetizers that include meat & noodle options. I am not use to so much carbs anymore, but it was a birthday celebration, so, let's get it on!!! Depending on which rolls were ordered, the rice layer can be pretty dense, like the Crazy roll (good cuts of fish in this one), Shrimp Tempura Crunch roll, and the Golden CA roll... those got people full fast! The rest if the rolls weren't so rice dense. Best roll of the night was the #21. Ultimate Albacore... decent cuts of albacore, spicy crab in the middle & fried garlic chips, thin rice layer, yum! Other tasty rolls we tried with decent cuts of fish were the Alaskan & Amazing rolls. Thinnest slices of fish were found on the Orange Tail roll, with the yellowtail PRET-TY skinny. All in all, 13 rolls for 4 adults & we couldn't get to the 2nd round! LITE WEIGHTS!!! The Birthday Boy was happily stuffed though, and that's all that counts. If I can give no stars I would. We've eaten here twice, first time we ordered the all you can eat menu. The sushi rolls had double the sushi rice and their service was slow. On the second visit, tonight, we gave them a second chance, thinking it might be a fluke....bad mistake. Two tables who arrived after us were served first as we waited just to get our first roll! It was after at least 30 minutes of waiting, eating our cold agedashi tofu and drinking subpar soju we had to leave. When we said we wanted to settle the bill and leave they said they'd send the manger but instead sent another server. The poor sever was so nervous, the manager didn't make the slightest effort to make things right. You are better off going to the sushi restaurant accross the street...we should have gone there in the first place. They serve much better food and the chef is good people. read more

On one fine Sunday evening my man friend said "hey, I know the perfect sushi place I want to take you...it's all you can eat." I was more than skeptical. Like got super pale & was very hesitant skeptical. Despite my response, I said I'd try it and when I did, I was very pleasantly surprised. It is all you can eat, but not how you'd think. It is made to order sushi & you order as much as you want, up to three rounds. Of course there are rules such as, you must eat all your rice & don't share with others. Fujiya has become one if my fave local sushi places. I love most of the sushi chefs, sometimes we even fist bump....We eat there a minimum of once a week (usually 2-3 times). Fujiya was my favorite place in HS, hadn't been here since pre-covid.I guess I showed up on the wrong weekday for the lunch price, so for 32.99 I was given pre-formed day old rice for all my nigiri which were very rice heavy and dense. normally don't order rolls until after I eat my nigiri order, big mistake on my part. I order a pepper ahi and eel special. given that this is the 100th pepper ahi I've eaten, the roll beneath the tuna was heavy but not terribly out of proportion. the eel special literally had the biggest cali roll base I had ever seen. Seems like they were trying extra hard to get me full, and they succeeded. barely finished my order and wasn't really excited to bother ordering more. fish quality was still decent, but everything else has suffered, very dated building at this point. read more

The service was terrible. We came in for dinner tonight and were sat in a corner and pretty much ignored. Two other tables were sat after as and they got there appetizers and meals before us. The staff never came by to see if we wanted more to drink or to even bring us the soup we had ordered. I understand the whole thing about having a busy night but this is way beyond rude. We asked to be moved to a booth and we're informed by the waiter that somebody was waiting for the table. The waiter didn't even bother to bring it to managements attention that we wanted to move. We asked for our order to go and nobody bothered to come back. I hate to say this that when customers are treated like this, there is no way we will ever be back to this place. A couple of my friends had been here before so we went here on their recommendation. Upon walking in, it looks like your typical sushi place, with cozy Japanese decor. We get seated at the booth by the waitress and she brings over menus, waters, and edamame on the house. We didn't go for the AYCE because we weren't that hungry. The menu is hugely extensive though, with normal rolls at $5 and special rolls at $9-$15. I decide on the "Love and I" roll, which is a no rice roll with soy paper, salmon, crab, cucumber, and spicy tuna. When the waitress picked up our order sheet, she exclaimed about how that was her favorite roll, so I felt validated in my choice. The rolls came in a decent amount of time. They were big and beautifully presented. The "Love and I" roll was one of the best I've had in awhile -- the tuna was actually spicy and the salmon was fresh. I also tried a piece of my friend's Jessica roll, which was also pretty good. The only thing about that one is that it's supposed to be a "sashimi roll," but there's only some sashimi on top and its mixed with grapefruit, which is interesting but some might dislike. I like to eat sushi especially it is all you can eat sushi joint. This (1/15/2012) was my second day in a row visiting a different sushi joint. I visited Fujiya in the past. I could have given 3 or 4 stars for Fujiya. This time seemed a bit different. Did they change ownership or sushi master? I am not sure... The Albacore (Shiromagro) we'd ordered never arrived (the waitresses weren't hepful either - no explanation were offered; thank God, we were full by the time we noticed it was missing). The deep-fried calamari order had to be asked twice, also, and when it arreved, it looked rather pathetic - more bread crums and very small squid parts were in it. The lesson learned if you visit this joint will be to priortized your order; that is, to order all you wanted in the first round (you have three rounds for buffet). The food came at a timely manner and was average or slightly below average quality. This is the first time I have seen uni on an ayce menu however the taste of it was the worst aspect of my whole meal. The udon I ordered took 30 minutes to come out to where I was somewhat full already when it came out. Worst part is that the rice was very cheap. I felt as tho I have had better rice quality from grocery store sushi. If quantity is what your looking for I don't think there's much of anything else around this area. This is a small hidden gem in Camarillo, I have been going here for years for the all you can eat menu... (the all you can eat allows you to choose from a huge sushi selection and also for those family's or friends who aren't fish lovers it also allows endless non-fish items such at Katsu chicken or udon and many other non fish items... I enjoy many different rolls the ultimate albacore, Cajun tender, and the lobster crunch I recommend all. This place is small and gets packed easily but there's a reason for that they have a good customer service and a real sushi house feel. The owners also operate this restaurant so you know there is a level of customer service that exceeds beyond a corporate or chain Resturant feel. Pleasant, delicious, and always leave full and happy.
