Long waits for drinks, ordering, and follow-up service. * Lemonade was disappointing--very bitter and tasted more like watered-down lemon juice. * Sushi rolls looked good and were decent overall. * Udon bowl was huge but only filled about - 1/2 of the way. Portion size didn't match the price. Taste was okay, but the kid said hes had way better. The fish cakes were definitely the highlight. * Tempura was good, but I was disappointed because the menu description led me to expect something different than what was served. * Spicy salmon hand roll was just okay. * After mentioning confusion about my order, our waitress never checked back, refilled drinks, or followed up with our table. * Asked about available discounts (military, AAA, etc.) and was quickly told no before I could finish asking. * Best part of the evening? High end San Diego prices with Imperial Valley quality... Haven't been to this spot for a very long time and boy have they went downhill since they opened. Service: our server was friendly and as attentive as he could be considering he was the only one for the whole place. However we had a forgot beer, miso soup, and roll that we had to ask for a second time. The sushi: ordered the #3 sashimi combo, (2 tuna, 2 yellowtail, 2 salmon) it was all barely okay. The yellowtail was inedible and fishy. They took those two little pieces off the bill. Ordered some shishito peppers, soft shell crab, and a few hand rolls. It was all just basic, nothing to write home about. THEN, the one that really gets me, CRUNCHY SALMON ROLL. This roll is almost $30, 27 something, for spicy salmon and a huge gob of cream cheese inside and some measly salmon pieces and a TINY sprinkle of tempura crunchy on top. This one is so wildly over priced, I can't even believe it. All in all this place is mid at best and WILDLY overpriced for the quality. Save yourself some money and go somewhere else. I started with their special appetizer, which tasted EXTREMELY fishy (good sushi shouldn't), it was deep fried and pretty sure the bones weren't removed. The dipping sauce did salvage it. Moving on to the sushi. None of it was fresh, the rice was extremely chewy, and the flavors were lacking. Not to mention the cost was not worth it. The ONLY reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because of my service. She was attentive, helpful, and kind. Came to this spot while visiting and it was so good! I ordered to go and my food was ready during the time frame they told me. I ordered the teriyaki chicken dinner, beef dinner ( shredded sweet beef with onion) and the rainbow roll (8pcs). The dinners both came with rice, salad and miso soup. No complaints at all! Very filling and delicious in taste. The rainbow roll was very refreshing and the fish selection was good on it! This unassuming abode from the outside may not attract the eye, but the inside is quite updated to a modern, intimate, and clean dining space. From the friendly staff you are greet with first thing when you step inside this humble abode, to their extensive menu of tempura meal combos, udon, and sushi. The owner, Wesley, and his staff are extremely hard at work to give you a relaxed dining experience. I personally like trying their salmon maki rolls and bluefin tuna belly nigiri. Great place for a fun work lunch with colleagues or a dinner date. Usually we get sushi rolls and they've all been great. The sticky rice was perfect in the rolls. Last time I ordered the Tempura Udon. The udon noodles were great and tasty! The owner is often the waiter and is very personable and quick to explain the complexities of each dish for any foodie who wants details. I ordered chirashi and edamame on DoorDash. This was probably the skimpiest chirashi I've ever had, and not cheap.

Moved to El Centro from San Diego and have been so disappointed with every sushi spot we have tried until we found this little hidden gem. My husband and I have been here multiple times now, and every time the service has been great, & the food is delicious! The sushi is so fresh and is by far the best sushi we have found in the valley. It is definitely worth the higher price for better quality. Also this is the only restaurant we have found that the water does not taste like dirt either, so all around 5 stars for us lol :) read more

I'm from long beach visiting here for work. I thought there was no way this city would have quality sushi, I was wrong. I actually came here two days in a row. The first day they had run out of my favorite cut of fish, as I showed up later in the day. The server let me know that the more rare cuts are limited as most people don't get them. When I came in the next day, they had actually prepared more of that fish just for me. I ordered yellowtail belly, red snapper, Hokkaido Scallops, Salmon, and Blue fin Tuna. I am from orange county and was wondering if the sushi was good quality here in the valley. I was pleasantly impressed. The sushi was absolutely delicious. What a delight to have such a clean, accommodating, restaurant in the Valley. While the sushi and the other items prepared are fresh and delicious the choices are many and unique to our usual Valley tastes. This leaves one wanting to go back as soon as possible to try something else. The service has been excellent and sometimes the remarkable owner helps with explaining choices that might complement the meal in a different way. I like the quietness and softness of the restaurant. Awesome spot for date night. We made reservations which was good because when we got there it was almost full. The food was amazing, definitely the best sushi in the valley. They have more traditional style sushi aka not as many fried things as other places here. Every thing we had was awesome. Waitress was nice.
