Hands down worth every penny! Although on the more upscale side it was definitely a place I would recommend. Normally you would pass by it in the gables and you'll be missing out on some amazing dishes but thankfully this gem was found. From the waiters to dishes everything was impeccable. The waiter were willing to answer every question and accommodate us as needed. The food, was absolutely fantastic too! I highly recommend the "fugato" pasta ( it's short rib with pasta) and trust me you won't regret it. It's the perfect balance of not too heavy and not to light. We have been going to Fugato for a long time. Fugato is one of the best restaurants in Miami where quality and service is tops no matter the day of the week. Now more than ever, their true quality shows. During these trying times restaurants need our patronage. We love coming here at least once a week or every two weeks; ordering for take out. We usually opt for the Grilled Salmon with Vegs and Risotto Funghi Porcini. Another family favorite is the Braised Short Rib with Risotto Milanese. Definitely stop by when in the area. I don't say this often, but this restaurant gets an award for their distinctive POOR/RUDE service. From the time we walked in to the dining experience, all three servers reeked of crummy service. When we walked in and requested to sit at the bar, the server just waved us in with his hand. Already then, my first impression: none of the servers even smiled when we walked past the mostly empty tables to the bar seats. Then the ordering of food was another one-of-a-kind experience. Our server bluntly asked us, and I quote, "What are you drinking tonight?" Um, not "Hello, how are you doing? What would you like to drink tonight?". That would have been a little more polite. He did the same for my entree: "What are you eating tonight?" [No smile] However, if they had good food, that would certainly offset their poor service... but that wasn't the case. I ordered pappardelle pasta with short ribs, mushrooms, and spinach. Great concept/list of ingredients, but unfortunately it was oversalted. So in summary, rude service, no smiles, and bad food. Hidden gem in Coral Gables, from food to service, all around 5*. Last Friday we had a party of 14 and not many restaurants accommodate a large party without a fixed price menu, and on short notice. Luis accommodated our party without a glitch. As opposed to other restaurants I called, he was actually happy to receive our large party. We ordered several appetizers, Mahi Mahi tiradito, goat cheese croquetas and others were a hit. The Rib Eye special was comparable to most high end steak houses. Fantastic restaurant! Small and clearly a neighborhood favorite - many diners greeted the maitre'd in a familiar way. The food was fresh and excellent, and the menu was creative without being over-the-top. Wine by the glass was poured at the table (in generous quantity) and the white wine glass was even chilled. This was not our first time at a restaurant in this exact location, but it was our first at Fugato. We hesitated for a moment because we wanted to make sure it was different than the one we visited before, and it was. The decor was improved and the energy was better. The staff super attentive and as we say in Spanish "servicial". We liked everything we had except the Malanga soup, and it wasn't bad. It is just not there yet. Needs a bit more seasoning added to the base, like maybe some onions, garlic, & green peppers. Although the descriptions say their food is a fusion of Italian, French, & Spanish, we think it is more Italian. We are crazy about Octopus and have had it in many places. This one could be in the top 5. It was a Good portion, Good texture, and well grilled. The baked Crab Cake was also Good. What I Loved was the quality of the pasta. I'm not a pasta person at all. Most of the pasta in restaurants is made with low quality very starchy flour. Here they say they make their pasta in house, and it is above average. I ordered my Pan Seared Snapper (great sauce) with Linguini with olive oil & garlic. I finished the pasta and had to take most of my fish to go! I also invaded my Boyfriend's Pappardelle pasta dish a little. My Boyfriend Loved his Tiramisu. I had The Strawberries in Sabayon which was different from most I've had before. I liked it. read more

For a while now I had heard nothing but great things about this restaurant, so I decided to give it a try for our valentines dinner. I am so glad I did. Food was amazing! But when the meal came I have to say it was the best meal in a long time; everything was perfect. I ate the Ousso Buco and Chorizo Risotto and SUPER WOW..........Look I don't give five stars but these people desertice more. I'm not a fan of nuveo cuisine but this was special. About 25 years ago, there used to be a nightclub not too far from Fugato called Alcazaba's. It was for the young and trendy crowd prior to Yelp, Twitter and life as we know it. But this review is not about Alcazaba's. Fugato is a very cozy yet unpretentious Italian fusion restaurant. My family and I came here tonight to try out the appetizers. We had the salmon tiradito, lentil soup, beef carpaccio, fried calamari and the tostones with short ribs. The portions were reasonable and my family enjoyed them. The service was very good. This was our second visit to Fugato over the last 12 months. We live an hour north of Coral Gables, but make a point to come here each time we are in the area. Had our first date night in over 10 months last night. We read the reviews and thought this place would be perfect. The atmosphere was nice, service very good, BUT the food was less than mediocre. The tostone/salmon appetizer was very good, however the main course had terrible flavor. My husband's osobucco was dry. I was excited to try the Pappardelle Fugato, but unfortunately the sauce was thick and tasted like an old stew. The pictures on Yelp did NOT look anything like what I was served. I had 3 bites and simply couldn't eat anymore. I was hoping the waiter would see my dislike, and offer me another dish, but he did not. It's possible we just had bad luck that night, but unfortunately that was our experience. read more

Went to Fugato last night with my husband. It was part of an early Christmas gift for him and we had both never been there before. We were greeted warmly and the rest of our time went smoothly, in addition to having a delicious meal. My husband ordered the fresh fish special, a snapper Francese with a side of linguine in an Alfredo sauce. I had the lobster ravioli. Both were perfect. Their house bread is served perfectly hot and delicious and their homemade tiramisu did not disappoint. Only thing about the dessert was that it was not big enough to share, it seems to be an individual portion, but it was very good. We felt the staff was very attentive. The final compliment goes to the Cafe Bonbon, OMG! I sipped a little out of curiosity and it was delish. My husband smiled until his cup was empty. We will go back. read more

We just noticed (10 months too late) that where two of our favorite restaurants (Francesco's and Mikuna, 300 block of Alcazar in Coral Gables) had been, they opened a new restaurant named Fugato. Currently, per Miami-Dade executive orders, only outside seating is allowed, so reservations are required. I don't even know where to begin... We started off with an appetizer special. Mashed plantains stuffed with short ribs....it was exceptional (so sorry forgot to take a picture). Followed the AMAZING APPETIZER with two entrees...one on the menu, Chicken Julienne ( although when I ordered he said they could make anything I wanted, a chicken marsala, a chicken picatta, whatever)...I was soooo tempted to order differently, but I stuck to the menu...it was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! Hubby opted for a special, Corvina (normally served with mashed potatoes and veggies), but the waiter gave him the option of anything he wanted, so he had it with Risotto. It was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, yes, I tasted it!!! We ended with a homemade guava cheesecake it was the best we have EVER HAD!!! I try visiting all my favorites on weekends supporting our local restaurants!! This one is a definite 5 STAR recommendation, you won't be disappointed!!
