Personally, I could go for the Chocolate Gooey, Brownie, and the Panther Coffee Chocolate Tres Leches every time and still think I had found ice cream heaven but I find it often necessary to go a script and try some of the other wonderful flavors, including the monthly specials. Sadly my dog is indifferent about the pup cup. Sometimes she's a huge fan and others she will turn her nose up to it. But never fear, the accommodating and wonderful staff is always willing to come through with a little dish of whipped cream that she will wolf down in seconds. Did I mention that that whipped cream is as good as homemade? When it lacks the old school ice cream shop, vibe and seems more touristy then I would like, it is still attractive and pleasant to be at in. The service is just so darn good that it matches the excellence of the product. Love it here and it's a must stop venue every time I am walking around in the Grove.

The person assisting us seemed like they didn't really want to be there and was a bit distracted chatting with coworkers instead of being engaged with customers. That said, the ice cream itself was excellent and worth the visit. I'd absolutely come back again, hopefully with a better service experience next time.

The Boston Cream was the biggest disappointment. The filling had a sour taste and a curdled texture instead of a smooth, rich pastry cream, and the chocolate topping barely tasted like chocolate. It was unpleasant enough that we couldn't finish it. The complimentary Key Lime donut suffered from the same dense texture and didn't change our overall impression. What concerns me most is that these donuts were also sampled by a local executive chef who had high expectations for The Salty Donut. We both reached the same conclusion. The sour-tasting pastry cream inside the Boston Cream wasn't just disappointing--it raised concerns about quality. I'd honestly recommend Krispy Kreme or even Dunkin' over this experience.
