It seemed to be an established resturant with an inexperienced staff and a manager asking staff what other resturants in the area did about things like people bring in their own bottle of wine (I presumed he was speaking of uncorking fees. My 2 star rating was based on lack of cleanliness, food not coming out in proper order, saki not remembered at all until the party asking for it had finished their meal. They add the gratuity into the bill, and were paid a second 30% on top of that because it was noticed until we were already in the car. The dog they were worried about stayed under the table and made not one sound.

Not exactly like we could easily come back and get the pork or a re-fire of the dish, but that wasn't even offered to us. In their website, they charge 3.5$ for extra chasu. So they didn't even offer us the amount they charge for the protein. After discussing this I called them back to try and explain the frustration we had with this and was entirely dismissed by their manager. When I told her they charge 3.5$ for additional pork she didn't even know the cost, and then offered to give me 11$ refund, because I had received 55$/65$ of food I ordered. I didn't though. I ordered a pork ramen, and didn't receive the primary part of that order. If I wanted a vegetable option I would have picked that. She insisted that there wasn't any other option. Food is good, but if they make it wrong it's not their problem. Terrible customer service. Don't go here.

There is a good reason for that...it's consistently delicious, consistently big in portions, consistently the best damn salad dressing... consistently tasty...it's reliable and filling. What's not to like? And while the interior and exterior have changed over the years...have to admit, the new signage is doing them a disservice since while the old sign was old-fashioned, you could see it from three blocks away...and the prices have got far more expensive, it's still a go to place that for most people will deliver several meals worth of food. Hang out waiting for your food and you'll hear many many orders for the spicy version...which is recommended. Not too spicy, just right. I admit to mostly ordering the plain old #1 Teriyaki chicken or Beef and Chicken. Long story short, it's hard to go wrong.

But the food and service were inconsistent, and I ended up never going back after my first few tries. Fast forward to the other night, my daughter and I did a mini "sushi hop" and ended up here. I have to say, I was pretty darn impressed! The conveyor belt was still just as long, and the ginormous sculpture (imported from Thailand IIRC) was still looming over the place. But they seem to have settled into their groove after so many years in business here in the Ham. We enjoyed a variety of options from the belt, including a few tasty rolls, as well as some nigiri ordered off the menu. Everything was fresh, hearty, and delish. I thought the prices weren't too bad, either. I will definitely look forward to visiting here again next time I'm having a sushi craving. I do want to say something about the service, as I noticed some recent reviews have mentioned problems in this area.
