a smoothie on a wooden table in a library
    Genoa D.

You can count on Fruitive when you are in the mood for some healthy fuel. My partner and I love the FIT smoothie. Blueberries, banana, and peanut butter. I sub almond butter and add unflavored protein to mine. We love to come early in the morning and really enjoy the tunes and vibe from the staff. The interior reminds me of a vintage library which I love and yes. Instagram worthy. The menu includes wraps, salads, avocado toast, smoothies and fresh squeezed juice. It can get pricey but their loyalty program offers $2, $5 and $10 off coupons. As far as smoothie shops go fruitive may be the best in the area.

The ambiance, the friendliness of staff and the speedy checkout was beyond satisfaction. Everything is made fresh-plant based and certified organic! Never had anything from here I did not like. I ordered the maca berry superbowl; love anything with dragon fruit. And with the warmer weather approaching the superbowls and smoothies will be the go to items! Plenty of parking so you don't have to worry about that part. They have indoor and outdoor sitting areas. Need a changing table? They have one in their restrooms! As a mom, I always like to know if they have changing tables available.

Soooo good!! The tofu in the breakfast wrap is amazing and the size is priced perfectly! They were quick and got everything correct in the order. It was an order out but the restaurant was very airy and clean looking

Very hipster. Quite frankly, I didn't feel crunchy enough to be there. Maybe I needed a "boss babe" yeti? Anyway, the staff was super helpful! My fruit smoothie base bowl thing was really good. They sell already packaged juices, oats and smoothie. This place is all vegetarian. Gluten free and whatever else you can't eat free. Maybe not 100% nut free but you get it. They do have kids stuff for kids but mine won't like how all this stuff is mixed.

This was the first time I noticed the place, a plant based spot so I had to check it out. I ordered the southwestern wrap and it was delicious. This was a whole wheat tortilla stuffed with romaine lettuce, a wild rice blend I believe, black bean and corn salsa, avocado, red peppers, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, hummus and Ranch dressing. Perfected combination! My only complaint was that the wrap was very loose so everything almost fell out.The service was swift everyone was polite. Now I wish I took photos for the inside it's small but just enough to be comforting and inviting. This might be one of my go to spots!

I finally hit up the pioneer of healthy on their 6th anniversary at the beach. It's been a long overdue visit and I was excited to try one of their beautiful bowls. Located in the Hilltop Shoppes aka Hilltop East. Surface parking is plentiful and I found the lot tidy. The walk up to the business revealed a patio with several tables. Some minor debris was spotted. All the tables were clean. Founded on May 25th 2012 Fruitive was the first certified fast casual organic restaurant in North America. They are 100% plant based. Prior to this week I did not realize this and could not help but be impressed. The quality of their products are never sacrificed. Fruitive is hardcore to their mission of providing customers with a "genuine, valuable, authentic & worthy of their dime" vegetarian experience. The Hilltop decor is noteworthy. It resembles a library with "real" books on the shelf you can pull off and enjoy over a bowl, or smoothie. The dark wood of the bookcases contrast with the lighter of the floor. The space is small with a few tables and a larger booth to the rear that can accommodate four, or more. It's a super score if you can get it. Everything is nicely appointed including the unisex restroom which I found clean with proper supplies. I loved soaking in the cool vibe of the space. The cashier Brittani was super friendly and prepared to help a rookie to the business. She explained all the varieties of bowls which I focused on. Furthermore she and staff Heather educated me on their business model which I was quite naive about. It's was fantastic to celebrate their 6th anniversary with them. Checkout was a breeze with their iPad system that allows for tipping. My order the Pro / cashew milk, pitaya, blueberries, strawberries, kale, avocado, spinach, dates, vanilla extract. Topped w/ granola, banana, seasonal berries, almond butter, hemp seeds. I could have a Pro everyday of my life...WOW! Coffee is not served at this location, but you can find at others. Self serve fresh fruit flavored water is at the bar by paper, or glass. I found the cups too small and constantly had to refill. Bussing can be by customer, or staff as they will happily clean up after you as I found. Thank you to Brittani for guiding me through the menu that was foreign to this carnivore. Also a shoutout to the artist behind the bowl Lauren. At Fruitive the presentation to customers is as important as the contents. The employees are passionate about what they do and support the company's mission. It's not just a job to staff its an obsession to bring their guest the very best products. Fruitive has three Hampton Roads locations and one in downtown District of Columbia. A fifth store will open in DC at DuPont Circle over the Summer 2018. Without hesitation I would recommend and will return.

    Avocado Toast

Their Avo Toast is *chefs kiss* The portion is huge, avocado is perfect, the pesto mayo is so good and doesn't overpower and the toast is the perfect amount (thin).

Very first time trying one of the juices from here. We decided on the carrot, pineapple and orange. It was extremely fresh and although I would have enjoyed a tad bit more sweetness to it, it was definitely refreshing and yummy. I love the decor and atmosphere this place brings to the eyes. It's very relaxing and peaceful. We lucked out and were able to catch the local art market they had going on. They often have vendors here so it's definitely a local spot supporting other local small businesses. That is to be appreciated for sure! Can't wait to come back and try one of their bowls!

My friend wanted to go to this place for lunch, so I thought I'd give it a try. This place is very cute on the inside, and offers many healthy options in different forms (liquid meals - smoothies, juices, savory meals - wraps and lettuce tacos, and açaí bowls). I ordered the Tuscan wrap because it looked good on the screen, but you have to ask what's in certain items if it's not because for some reason the menu just has the names of the food items but no clue as to what's in them. The Tuscan wrap was 11.95. I loved the texture of it, but it was just texture really. It lacked solid flavor, maybe needed some salt and some sauce of anything. I also ordered the Pineapple Xpress juice (pineapple, pear, ginger, aloe Vera) and it was delicious. It better be delicious for $7 though. It was listed as $6, but then they add a random $1 bottle deposit to your tab instead of just listing the drink as $7. Service was wonderful, however. The cashier explained to me what was in each thing (you have to if you want to know what you're ordering) but besides that, I'm not sure the price justifies all that I ordered. I probably won't return if I'm hungry because there are a ton of "healthy" places that give you more flavor and bang for your buck. This is one of those restaurants that probably overcharge due to people wanting to go somewhere healthy and think they need to pay top dollar for it. Cute for Instagram though!

Always good. Had the way immunity smoothie today. Beware: cayenne pepper in it, but it made it very tasty and interesting. Fast service. Staff very friendly. Prices aren't cheap, but quality and interesting food. Highly recommended!

    Harvest Chili

So freaking DELICIOUS!!! Just stopped by for a late lunch and was immediately met with a very kind greeting from both men who were working there. I ordered half avocado herb toast and 8oz of the Hagerstown chili. If you haven't tried it... you're missing out. 10/10 if I could. The two men working today were so thoughtful and absolutely crushed making my meal and taking orders from other customers. One of them even came out from behind the kitchen/counter and put the rest of the items I purchased into my bag for me. Not only was the food delicious, but superb customer service as well!!!

Overpriced but great smoothie bowls & healthy options. You can call in your order in advance so you don't need to wait for pick up, or you can dine in. I love their banana peanut butter toast!

A few years ago, they opened this location which has a bar and dine-in service. Sophia and I joined a friend of ours for lunch on Saturday. Let's see how the event turned out. I happened to place a reservation for our table the previous night, but since there weren't many people present, it wasn't necessary. The staff greeted us when we walked inside and got seated immediately. The decor inside was really nice. There's artwork abound, a bar and even a foosball table. Simply put, you should not be bored at a place like this. After looking at the menu, we were all ready to order. I selected their cabbage stew with chicken as the protein with plain jasmine rice and sweet plantains. Overall, the food was good. The stew was presented with medium spice so it definitely had my lips burning (a great thing) and the rice was well cooked. The plantains had flavor, but I felt it was overcooked. It has been a minute since I've eaten plantains but they were always a bit soft. The stew did have plenty of chicken but it could've been cut to slightly smaller pieces. Still, the meal had yours truly full and I did takeout. So did Sophia and our friend. All in all, I had a really nice time. The hospitality was really nice (the owner actually came to our table to check on us) and the food was plentiful. Oh yeah, we even had a robot bring our food to us. How cool is that??!! I have been to Yendidi two times prior and have had great experiences both times. However, this particular time left a LOT to be desired. I've previously visited Yendidi during the week and around late afternoon/early evening. They have good happy hour deals and they allow you to order off their lunch menu well into the evening which I appreciate. Since my friends got into town late we ended up visiting Yendidi around 7:30pm on Sunday evening. When we sat down and were getting ready to order our waitress informed us of a laundry list of food options they had run out of (chicken, shrimp, plantains, jollof rice, white rice, beef patties, bread rolls, and samosas). This really limited the availability of options that we could choose from on their extensive menu. I would highly recommend having a white board or some way of communicating what options are not available before customers sit down so that they can make an informed decision about whether to dine at this location or go somewhere else with more options. My friends ordered the goat suya and chicken suya (they apparently still had a small amount of chicken left) and they both enjoyed their appetizers. The meat was very tender and well seasoned. I was relieved that things were taking a turn for the better but unfortunately I was disappointed again. My friend ordered the pepper soup and the wrong entree came out...twice! The waitress didn't give a sincere apology and it took my friend about an hour to get the correct entree. His correct order came out around 8:45pm (Yendidi closes at 9pm) and I could tell he didn't have enough time to enjoy his food. He ate about half of it and didn't even box up the rest (likely because they were staying at a hotel). My wife and I ordered the Waakye Special with a side of sweet potato fries. Fortunately our orders were correct and our food was tasty. Though I much preferred a side of jollof rice or plantains like I normally get, I was satisfied with my meal specifically. Given the lack of food options available and the lack of accuracy with my friend's order I believe their whole meal should've been complimentary or at least significantly discounted (i.e 50% off). I was so disappointed and embarrassed that their dining experience was so subpar. I expect much more out of Yendidi since I've had such better experiences in the past and I've met the owners. I hope they reach out and make this experience right. This restaurant provides tasty authentic West African food but I highly recommend coming during the weekday and or before 7:30pm to ensure that you have the best dining experience. Also, ask for Connie, she's a super jovial waitress.

I was simply visiting from out of state so I won't return, but I'd encourage you to! They are also included on Resy so be sure to book there or use a Resy credit if you have it!

The pink dinghy was great! Service was very friendly and quick to get us seats for Sunday brunch…read more They were accommodating for finding a spot to put our baby in his carrier too. Food came out very quick and they easily added things to my order. The biscuits and gravy were delicious! Personally I definitely recommend adding an extra egg, jalapeños and cheese. The pancakes were solid too, albeit a bit pricy. The restaurant had great vibes and intentional design. Indoor does have limited seated but there is plenty of outdoor in the front and back. Well worth a visit!
