I stopped by Fruitive while running errands on Monday. A delicious gem tucked in the hilltop north shopping center. When I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly staff and I was drawn to the decor. Straight back it looked like a little library, how cute! For a holiday, it wasn't busy! There were about 6 other people in there, 5 of them being together. After taking way too long to decide, I went with the "coffee date" smoothie which had cold brew coffee, almond milk, banana, peanut butter, raw cacao and dates. The small was $12.12. A little pricey; but for organic nowadays, that's the price you pay! While I waited, I admired the ambiance of the spot, even the bathroom was aesthetic! It happened to be Fruitives birthday over the weekend, so Chris at the front gave me a reusable bamboo straw and a little keychain! So sweet. My order took about 5 minutes! The first sip was exactly what I was looking for. Something refreshing, slightly sweet and the perfect morning pick me up! I enjoyed my smoothie outside for a little before heading out to finish my errands. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, depending on your vibe! What a cool Vegan café. I stopped in for a smoothie and salad. The staff greeted me. Smoothie was coffee based and very filling. The salad was kale based and they offered many options for customizing your salad. The salad was fresh. I will note that I had issues with the app and tried to call the store. There is not a direct number, but chat/text you could use. This was a bit of the pain as the store at the other was the DC location and they have to call Va Beach to get updates. I wish there were more places like Fruitive in the Hampton roads area. Health is wealth. Prices for menu items were very reasonable. The book and little seating lounge in the back was very cozy and welcoming. The staff greeted us with a smile and gave us tips on what to order. You can count on Fruitive when you are in the mood for some healthy fuel. My partner and I love the FIT smoothie. Blueberries, banana, and peanut butter. I sub almond butter and add unflavored protein to mine. We love to come early in the morning and really enjoy the tunes and vibe from the staff. The interior reminds me of a vintage library which I love and yes. Instagram worthy. The menu includes wraps, salads, avocado toast, smoothies and fresh squeezed juice. It can get pricey but their loyalty program offers $2, $5 and $10 off coupons. As far as smoothie shops go fruitive may be the best in the area. read more

My mom got hungry, so we stopped by here for a quick snack. Their menu ranges from smoothies to salads to smoothie bowls, and as a plus they are located at the Hilltop so you can stop by while shopping!! You order at the register, and we ordered the berry immune smoothie and southwest salad (total of around $21). Food didn't take too long, and decided to sit there and eat at the tables. This was the first time I noticed the place, a plant based spot so I had to check it out. I ordered the southwestern wrap and it was delicious. This was a whole wheat tortilla stuffed with romaine lettuce, a wild rice blend I believe, black bean and corn salsa, avocado, red peppers, cucumbers, grape tomatoes,hummus and Ranch dressing. Perfected combination! My only complaint was that the wrap was very loose so everything almost fell out.The service was swift everyone was polite. I finally hit up the pioneer of healthy on their 6th anniversary at the beach. It's been a long overdue visit and I was excited to try one of their beautiful bowls. Located in the Hilltop Shoppes aka Hilltop East. Surface parking is plentiful and I found the lot tidy. The walk up to the business revealed a patio with several tables. Some minor debris was spotted. All the tables were clean. Founded on May 25th 2012 Fruitive was the first certified fast casual organic restaurant in North America. They are 100% plant based. Prior to this week I did not realize this and could not help but be impressed. The quality of their products are never sacrificed. Fruitive is hardcore to their mission of providing customers with a "genuine, valuable, authentic & worthy of their dime" vegetarian experience. The Hilltop decor is noteworthy. It resembles a library with "real" books on the shelf you can pull off and enjoy over a bowl, or smoothie. The dark wood of the bookcases contrast with the lighter of the floor. The space is small with a few tables and a larger booth to the rear that can accommodate four, or more. It's a super score if you can get it. Everything is nicely appointed including the unisex restroom which I found clean with proper supplies. I loved soaking in the cool vibe of the space. The cashier Brittani was super friendly and prepared to help a rookie to the business. She explained all the varieties of bowls which I focused on. Furthermore she and staff Heather educated me on their business model which I was quite naive about. It's was fantastic to celebrate their 6th anniversary with them. Checkout was a breeze with their iPad system that allows for tipping. My order the Pro / cashew milk, pitaya, blueberries, strawberries, kale, avocado, spinach, dates, vanilla extract. Topped w/ granola, banana, seasonal berries, almond butter, hemp seeds. I could have a Pro everyday of my life...WOW! Coffee is not served at this location, but you can find at others. Self serve fresh fruit flavored water is at the bar by paper, or glass. I found the cups too small and constantly had to refill. Bussing can be by customer, or staff as they will happily clean up after you as I found. Thank you to Brittani for guiding me through the menu that was foreign to this carnivore. Also a shoutout to the artist behind the bowl Lauren. At Fruitive the presentation to customers is as important as the contents. The employees are passionate about what they do and support the company's mission. It's not just a job to staff its an obsession to bring their guest the very best products. Fruitive has three Hampton Roads locations and one in downtown District of Columbia. A fifth store will open in DC at DuPont Circle over the Summer 2018. My friend wanted to go to this place for lunch, so I thought I'd give it a try. This place is very cute on the inside, and offers many healthy options in different forms (liquid meals - smoothies, juices, savory meals - wraps and lettuce tacos, and açaí bowls). I ordered the Tuscan wrap because it looked good on the screen, but you have to ask what's in certain items if it's not because for some reason the menu just has the names of the food items but no clue as to what's in them. The Tuscan wrap was 11.95. I loved the texture of it, but it was just texture really. It lacked solid flavor, maybe needed some salt and some sauce of anything. I also ordered the Pineapple Xpress juice (pineapple, pear, ginger, aloe Vera) and it was delicious. It better be delicious for $7 though. It was listed as $6, but then they add a random $1 bottle deposit to your tab instead of just listing the drink as $7. Service was wonderful, however. The cashier explained to me what was in each thing (you have to if you want to know what you're ordering) but besides that, I'm not sure the price justifies all that I ordered. I probably won't return if I'm hungry because there are a ton of "healthy" places that give you more flavor and bang for your buck. This is one of those restaurants that probably overcharge due to people wanting to go somewhere healthy and think they need to pay top dollar for it. Cute for Instagram though! read more

It looks like a library with a smoothie bar. Books and shelves were the primary decor. Lots of wood. I liked it. There is outdoor seating if you're into that. I ordered the seasonal spice açaí bowl. It was my first time ever trying this dish. It was served in a decent sized bowl with lid. My toppings included coconut shavings, a banana, almond butter, apples, and cinnamon spices. Perfect presentation. I do have to give honest opinion that might not be so pleasant. I don't usually spend over $6 for breakfast so this $14 breakfast was a bit much for me. Definitely not a place I could visit daily because I simply don't believe in splurging daily(although they do have cheaper options just not what works for me). It's packed with kale, quinoa, butternut squash, caramelized onions, broccoli, and chickpeas and has hummus and basil mayo inside a wheat wrap. YUM. If you have a sensitive stomach you will probably have gas... I know my husband was pretty upset with my selection. lol! On this most recent trip I went with the Cucumber Sandwich which is probably my new favorite thing I've ever eaten in my LIFE. OMG. It was so amazeballs. Like you need to eat it... now! It seemed like the sandwich had only a handful of cucumbers and tomatoes, maybe a quarter of an avocado, and then sparsely sprinkled with microgreens.
