I took my Apple Watch in to get fixed in early December. It needed to be sent to Richmond because that's apparently where they have the sautering tool needed to fix the batter. By December 15, I'd received a call that the watch was fixed, but then they backtracked and said it was still losing its charge. From that point on, it was radio silence; I called them on 12/22 and12/31, each time without them being able to tell me what was wrong with the device. By 1/30, they told me that the device was unfixable and then would send it back to Charlottesville to get it to me. And again, I heard nothing. When I called on 2/10, I finally spoke with someone helpful who'd admitted that the watch had been lost in the mail. I asked that person what could be done, and they offered to see if the company could help me replace the device; I asked to get that in writing in the form of an email, which they obliged and sent on 2/11. I've now responded to that email two times (on 2/14 and 2/17) hoping to move forward with the replacement of my device or some kind of a refund, and no one has answered. Fruit Fixed showed embarrassingly poor communication and bad customer service. I have no idea how their rating is so high - I feel like many of these reviews can't be legitimate. I now have to purchase a new watch and can't use my previous device as a trade-in because they have refused to help me when it was lost in transit between their two stores, and when apparently no one who worked there even realized it was gone. I urge everyone to look at Fixed Fruit's responses to the reviews. In each case, they twist the fact to place blame on the customer. Untrustworthy, unreliable, and unprofessional. Do not waste your money, time, or energy with Fruit Fixed. Background: I brought my apple iwatch in for a screen replacement months ago. When I got it back the first time, the screen was detached from the watch. The second time, the screen was repaired correctly however, the battery stopped working. I brought it back a second time. They replaced the battery (I paid an additional $30). However, the watch still does not work. The battery life is about 4 hours. I brought it back a third time, and a "ticket was put in" and someone was supposed to call me. I never heard back. There was *no issue* with the battery before I brought it in. The watch is not useable. I requested a full refund. The owner refused to do anything and called it a "successful repair." I tried to reach him on the phone but he dodged me. He gave me the number to a store he doesn't work at. Then they store gave me a number to a different store - again, the owner couldn't be found. The manager however talked to the owner on the phone. When I asked for his number he said no. Email only. Incredible. I will be making a complaint to the BBB for the predatory and deceitful practices. I previously gave Fruit Fixed a 1-star review. I had received several stories that, without additional explanation, did not seem to add up. The customer service started friendly, but after trying to get movement on my computer, the manager at the location I used turned quite nasty manager. I will say I was quite frustrated at not receiving my computer and going several weeks without updates so I was not on my best behavior. After leaving the review here, within 5 minutes, the owner called and was able to give a much better explanation of what was going on. He provided detailed updates and took steps that I had hoped the staff would have taken to resolve me concerns and return my laptop. So the owner's efforts were 5-star when I average them out that leaves me with 3-stars. Areas for improvement: clear and frequent communication with customers and training the staff with customer service. This is the second time I used them. Will I use them again? Maybe for a cellphone screen repair but not for a computer. read more

Unfortunately, we were not at all happy with the service we received here. We took in our laptop because the hard drive crashed. We were told it should be be replaced in 1 houe. It took almost 2 weeks! We were also not correctly notified and messages were never left because they thought it was a business phone number. We had to call ourselves and email. When we finally picked it up we were told the memory could not be saved, which we thought was a possibility l. We asked for the hard drive back and they said they threw it away! Then, after I sent a complaint letter they suddenly "found" the hard drive. They sent it to us with some screws. We saw that screws were missing from the laptop and we couldn't get them back in to stay. Now the laptop keeps popping open. This was not like this when we brought it there. We sent a complaint email and really didn't get any response besides saying our hard drive was suddenly found. We will not be going back here and we suggest you try Best Buy or another location before going here. For our troubles gave us $10 off, which is a joke for giving us a laptop back after 2 weeks with the casing of laptop now popping up. I'd like to also add more since business just responded. They did call, 2 times, but never left a voicemail. People don't always pick up and if you don't leave a voicemail you cannot know who called or what they want. Emails were only sent because I emailed the owner first to see what was going on. Now they say we werent charged for other services, just excuses. Inadequate. They ignored my wishes, even after how often I contacted them and repeated my wishes, in-person, over texts, and over the phone. They had no idea where it was or if facility three even had it in their possession, and they went through with repairs that I HAD NOT authorized (I also said multiple times that they were not authorized to start those repairs until I was contacted by them). Details are below. This place is not customer-friendly. Beware. It's best to put your money somewhere else. My Nintendo Switch is what I needed to be repaired. The connector pins on the motherboard broke off. The connector is what the MicroSD Card Reader connects to. After the trainwreck this business put me through, I had to pay 50% more ($135) than what they said was the maximum ($90). Take your business elsewhere. Please. You will find better places with a less chance of being disappointed. They made numerous errors. Somehow, they had no idea where my device was after shipping it to the third facility. They said that it was not in their system, and they had no idea if anyone had started the repairs or even received it. I also told them that the issue was, there was a problem with the motherboard connector, which connects to the MicroSD Card Reader. Some pins were missing. I mentioned that multiple times to them. I also told them to contact me before they start repairs, so they could tell me in detail what the issue is. They texted me not long after turning it in and said there was a "deeper issue." I contacted them many times through texts and calls and no one would tell me what this issue was. I then told them to make sure to call me before they start repairs, again, because I wanted to know what this "deeper issue" was. I said they are not authorized to do repairs yet, and I have to know what the issue is first. And what do they do? They ignore everything I say. Not only that, but I ask them where my device is currently (called on July 9 asking them that). They said they did not know where it was, and that it also was not in the system. After a week of having been shipped out, if not more. Two days after my last call (July 11, more than enough time for them to again get someone to contact me), I get a text saying repairs are done. Even though they told me two days earlier they had no idea if it was at the third facility. Not only that, but the issue I said the Switch had (the connector pins), I was told it would be $90 at most. And this "deeper issue," that supposedly was not the connector? It was instead, the MicroSD Card Reader itself, according to the label they put on the switch, and what I was told after the repair was done. Mind you, this repair literally takes 5 minutes and can be done by an amateur. The needed piece for the repair only costs $10. So how did my repair come out to $135? Maybe they can explain away some of this, but not all of it. There is definitely no excuse for going through with the repair when I specifically said that they cannot go with the repair until I confirm it. One thing to note: I could be wrong about the "actual issue" being the MicroSD Card Reader itself. Maybe they were just lacking in their knowledge on the technological terms. Which seems odd for a place that specializes in fixing technology. Maybe the real problem was the original problem that I approached them with. But that still does not explain why they labeled the issue as a "deeper issue," nor does it explain why the price shot up by $45. It either should have been $90 or less. I took my computer in earlier this month as my track pad was acting weird on my MacBook Pro. The guy working the counter was really nice, took my info and said he would get back to me. Later that evening I got a call with his recommendation to replace the track pad. I liked that if this did not solve the problem for me, I would not be charged for the new track pad. But sure enough, this was the fix and my laptop was done about a week after I brought it in. The price was decent, service was friendly. Professional, fast, and AMAZING screen repair! I walked in around 10am on a Saturday morning after smashing my iPhone 7 Plus screen to bits. James pleasantly & professionally greeted me & walked me clearly through all the options I had about replacing/repairing the screen. Let's begin with this statement from your response to my original review: "We took on a repair from you for a non-standard tablet..."   Or; "...had this been a less obscure tablet..." Please define "non-standard." My tablet is an Asus ZenPad, purchased in the Verizon store in Charlottesville. You can also find them at Best Buy or WalMart. How is this "non-standard?" How is this tablet "obscure?" Next; "Our staff stayed in touch, not every day, but when there were meaningful updates." This is absurdly false. Your staff DID NOT stay in touch with me. In fact, every time I spoke to your staff it was I who initiated the contact. I dropped off the tablet in the middle of the week, I was told by the person who helped me that he would get a quote for the repair and call me back. He did not call me back, so several days later I called him. I was given a price ($117) and told that it would take several business days to get the part. I heard nothing for about another week, and called again. The person who spoke to me this time could not find any notes on my tablet, and could only tell me that it was not repaired. He promised to leave a note for the manager to call me the next day. Once again, no call back. After traveling for several days on business, I called back again. This time I was told that the repair was unsuccessful; that after replacing the screen, the tablet would not respond. I was told that a different screen would be ordered and installed. Once again; no call back. Again, I initiated contact. This time I was told that you tried several screens and none were successful, that you were unable to repair the tablet. I have about a 45 minute drive to get to this location, so I need to order parts before taking my phone in for repair. My Moto Z needs a battery replacement. It took 4 phone calls to this location for anyone to even answer the phone. The gentleman (loose term there) said they don't carry the battery in stock (surprise surprise) and he was too busy to take my phone info at the time and he would call me back. Brought my daughters phone in yesterday as it was dead and person behind the counter was extremely quick in dissecting her phone. He tried replacing a few parts to determine if it was a common issue. Unfortunately it looks like it was a bad motherboard so it would have been cost prohibitive to fix on an older phone. When I asked how much I owed for the diagnosis he said nothing, as he was not able to repair the phone. The people were nice, and they did eventually fix my phone for a fair price. However, the item I ordered came in a lot later than they estimated, and when it did come in I was never called. Called back a couple of weeks later to find out that it was in. Then it was a bit frustrating Because no one was able to tell me if I came in whether they would be able to fix my phone. I had a poor experience at Fruit Fixed. I showed up on March 7th with a Microsoft Surface laptop that had suddenly stopped powering on. The manager was cautiously optimistic that they could identify the problem, although the design of my computer model required taking the screen off to conduct a full diagnosis. A few days later the manager said that they thought it was a defunct battery, so I agreed with their proposal to order a replacement. The manager said they would have the battery in about four days. In his words, "probably Thursday; no later than Friday." It didn't arrive that week, which I figured was understandable since snail mail can be unpredictable. A week or so later he called me and said that they got the battery but that if I got the computer and turned it off that I probably wouldn't be able to turn it back on because he noticed that the power button was damaged. But then he said that since the parts to the power button were too small, he would need to ship my computer off to another repair shop who had the necessary tools to work on it. I agreed to this, because of course I'd like my computer to be able to turn on properly. In addition, he needed to order a new screen because it was damaged when the computer was taken apart for the initial diagnosis. I've talked to multiple repair persons, and that is not uncommon, so I don't fault the manager for this, especially given the design of Microsoft Surface Book Ones. Anyways, I agree to having the computer shipped off for power button repairs as well as a new screen, and another two weeks goes by. I then get a call saying that my computer is back in Charlottesville and that a mailman came to drop it off, but that they came outside of the modified store hours (due to COVID-19). The manager said he would go by the mail center to pick it up on Monday (since that was a Friday and the mail facility would be closed over the weekend). The manager then says that he'll go by and pick it up in time for me to have it soon. Apparently he picks up the wrong package, which he informs me of later. A day or so later he finally gets the right one (after he tells me he'll have it by a certain time and I show up only to find out he hasn't gotten it yet). Another day or so goes by and I get a phone call from one of the other employees saying that my computer is back, fixed, and ready to pick up. I show up to pick it up and I notice that half of my touch screen does not work. I realize that the battery is low and I go to plug it into an outlet inside the shop and notice that my computer is not charging. I had recently replaced the adapter myself, so I knew that was not the issue. It was frustrating to be told to come by to pick up my computer (when I could be safe at home during a global coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic), only to find out that the repair personnel had not even bothered to confirm that the computer was fully functional. I show the personnel on site my computer, since the manager was not in the store at the time, and he doesn't know what to do and then sends a bunch of texts to the store manager, which the manager says he doesn't see until the following day. After another day or two the manager finds a way to fix the power issue (for which I am grateful), but the manager says that the reason the touch screen doesn't work is because it is a faulty new screen. He says that he'll order one that should arrive in a couple days. It's been almost two weeks and I haven't heard anything; today is May 7th. In addition, the screen that they previously installed is actually coming loose, which suggests to me that it was not installed properly. I think the glue probably did not fully set before they returned it to me. All that to say, my experience with Fruit Fixed was pretty poor. I visited it on March 7th, had my last visit on April 23rd, and I still don't have a fully functioning computer. I'm not necessarily upset that they couldn't fix every little thing. What's more disappointing is the multiple situations in which the manager said certain things would be done in a certain amount of time and those expectations that the manager initially stated were not met in near that amount of timeframe. Not to mention the sloppiness of saying something is fixed, and having a customer drive to the shop only to then realize that things are not actually repaired because no one bothered to confirm that it was fully functional.
