We love Frost! It's a hidden gem tucked away in the plaza right next to Sauce. We'll usually stop in here for dessert because they have so many flavors to chose from and it's the perfect amount. Frost always has the best texture and flavors when it comes to gelato, perfectly creamy but not overbearingly sweet. My most-ordered flavor is their stracciatella which has the perfect amount of chocolate in it. I highly recommend ordering some of their seasonal flavors and just tried both violet and watermelon sorbet. The watermelon sorbet comes with chocolate chips mixed in, adding a nice extra bite of flavor and texture and the violet was not overwhelming floral but more than enough to satisfy. This is such a special place. I am from Illinois and used to go to the Highland Park location because I had a friend who worked there! I always used to get peanut butter crunch there and then when I moved to Tucson, I was so excited to see that they had a frost! There is ample parking in the lot, when you see Whole Foods and wildflower, you know you're in the right spot. They have so many flavors and they are much healthier than regular ice cream. Service is always good, quick and they are always kind. There is outdoor seating and indoor seating, lately with the Winter. I've been choosing inside :P. I've had gelato many times in Italy as well as local shops in the U.S.A. It is absolutely shocking to me that Frost gelato stays in business. I had a $50 gift card and in 2.5 years I didn't spend it all because I couldn't find flavors I wanted to eat at Frost gelato! It literally cost me nothing yet the flavors were so poor I didn't want them and am now moving away from Arizona without finishing the gift card. Yikes. I think a big problem here is that they must be using commercial syrups or other processed additives to make their flavors, as tasting after sample tasting the gelato tastes artificial. First time here! Here are some of my thoughts in their respective categories. First Impression: It was a busy Saturday evening as expected with great weather around 7pm. It's a very small establishment with nice lighting ambience to add to the experience. A little confused as to why they were mopping in the very front part of the entrance were people walked in. We ate outside and saw a kid fall down in the wet area in front of the entrance and luckily he wasn't injured so that was a bit of an odd thing to experience. Interactions: Staff were fantastic and friendly. Very warm welcome and even delighted to see their customers walk in considering how busy it was. Service: Great! No complaints here. We were offered samples and even suggested to try some flavors which the young lady was very knowledgeable and kind. Value: Hard to tell with prices being elevated but for reference, me and my gf got 2 small cups for around $11 and some change. Pretty steep if you ask me but you pay for what you get :). Quality was excellent. Recommendation: If you like Ice cream and have never tried gelato, this is the place to go! I've been going to Frost since it opened years ago. It's always delicious and the presentation of the gelato is always beautiful but the teens and young adults they have working there are always unpleasant. It's like they hate working there. I've witnessed one storm out. We went to the Casas Adobes Frost two days ago and sat inside to eat with our kids since all the outside tables were taken. The only people the girls behind the counter were remotely nice to were their friends who came to visit and hang out. The girls behind the counter who were serving gelato were also eating their own samples in between customers. When I paid for our gelato she just asked if I wanted a receipt, I said no and she turned around and walked away to talk to the other coworker. No thank you, no have a nice day. So I said, "thank you!" And zero acknowledgement. But this has been how the workers are behind the counter for the last few years. It's like zero customer service training. So why go there? Because we go to Sauce next door and want to walk over for gelato and it's the only dessert option! It's like they know they're the only option so they don't try to be pleasant at all. read more

We weren't greeted; the staff just stared at us until we initiated the conversation and placed our order. Maybe the guy with blonde hair didn't get enough sleep or hated the fact that he had to work that day, but when I asked about the difference between the Alpen caramel flavor and the other caramel, they mocked me behind the counter. I was craving gelato so we found Frost and decided to give it a try. Located in a strip mall, there was a few seats inside and a number of seats outside. Frost has a ton of flavors with some creative ones in addition to the usual suspects. They'll also let you sample a few flavors if you're torn between flavors. I chose a medium size, half pistachio and half strawberry champagne. My husband got a large with dark chocolate, salted caramel, and a peanut flavor. Overall, the gelato was decent, but not close to the best I've had. My husband really loved his flavors. Pistachio is my absolute favorite but the flavor was more mild and not super concentrated. The strawberry champagne was more strawberry than champagne but refreshing. So all in all, it was a decent treat. I enjoyed sitting at the table outside and getting some sunlight while eating our gelato. read more

The tables outside were dirty and chairs all over the place. We let them know and they just shrugged even though there was three employees and no customers. Just had our favorite ice cream stop at Frost for Gelato...I paid and added a tip. I asked the two young ladies working the counter .."hey just wondering where the tip goes?they didn't really know how to respond. They said they don't receive tips...I asked about the large glass container with bills in it and said...I guess I should have tipped cash in there.... They responded "actually that goes to the chefs" I posted on nextdoor and a neighbor confirmed she knew someone who worked there and that goes directly to the owners to use at their discretion. Geez very misleading and most definitely sad esp when you get good service. Word of wise if you tip at Frost and alot of other places.
