Wow...this new management is going to put this beloved place straight out of business. New menus went up....the tenderloin is now $10. The frosts are ridiculously expensive. I can got to any actual restaurant and pay about $12 for a tenderloin and it'll come w fries and the experience. Frost Bite tenderloins are good...but they are like $6 max good - not $10. We've came to frost bite all summer and have loved their frosts! We went today and the price went from 11 to 17 because they're now under new management and have new charges for toppings. On top of the increase my wife found two hairs in her small frost. She was under the impression that the first one was a fluke so she continued to eat but when she got closer to the bottom there was another hair which is disgusting. I don't go out for ice cream very often, but when I do, I like to support local businesses over the big franchised chains. So, while in Avon, I made a point to stop at this place to give it a try. Although they have convenient drive thru, I parked in the horse shoe parking lot that surrounds the building and walked up to the order counter. Overhead, there are menus for a few meal items as well as the large list of flavors for the ice creams available. You place your order and pay at the window on the right and pick up your order at the left window. I decided to go with a sundae (strawberry) over an ice cream cone or frozen custard cone. I saw the listings for waffle cones, but didn't see any pricing for getting a scoop in a bowl which is what I have been doing lately. So, the frozen custard sundae was soon ready with plenty of yummy strawberry/sauce topped with whipped cream and Maraschino cherry. Although provided with a plastic spoon and napkins, I must say the spoon was very flimsy and bent a little even with the soft serve custard. I wonder if it would have held up with the firmer ice cream selections. Anyway, the flavor was quite good and the price was reasonable. Service was friendly and pretty swift. Disrespectful service! I loved to frequent this place prior to the change in owners. I went to the drive thru last night and started to place my order. The kids took awhile to decide but no one was in line behind us. I asked for recommendations and was ignored twice. Then, a female voice blasted "are you gonna order already?" in the nastiest tone. I asked her name which she rudely would not provide. When I called and talked to the owner on the phone - he was the same way. It makes sense that the employees would mirror the management. Received a soured strawberry shortcake. Called to explain that the strawberries were bad and request a replacement. Darlene argued that they were not bad. Ok, not sure if my strawberries were from the top of the container or what but they were not good. I asked if I could just get a replacement at a later date as I had plans and could not immediately come back. She proceeded to tell me I needed to save this soured shortcake with ice cream on it for a week or two until I could come back in order to get a replacement. Really..... who has extra space in the freezer for bad food and additionally I normally stop and get ice cream after going out to dinner not when coming straight from home. The wife and I (and the puppy) love coming here. It's become a bit of a tradition to head over to Town Hall Park for a long walk and then treat ourselves to a bit of ice cream at Frost Bite. This is just one of those great little places that has to be insanely busy after a high school football game. We've been here a few times and always had a good experience. They have the typical ice cream shoppe items - shakes, malts, sundaes, blizzard knockoffs, and some food items. As lots of others have said, the cup sizes are very generous. I didn't realize this my first time and got a medium Frost. Wow. It was the size of a large at DQ! So just keep that in mind when you order. We also ordered some onion rings once and they were good too - nothing special, but good. But I'm not really here for the food anyway... just the ice cream! The also have little puppy cups they give you if you want one for your dog. Our little guy LOVES this. He scarfs his down in seconds and then begs for more. It's a really nice touch and makes this a great place for us to come with him after a walk in the park. Plus, the last time we were here, the owner (clearly a fellow dog lover) came out to meet our puppy and give him a few treats. He was very friendly and great to talk to. This was definitely a nice personal touch that will keep us coming back. So, overall, Frost Bite is a great little local place with a menu that covers all the basics, decent prices, and a friendly staff. What puts this place over the top for me is the abundant patio seating and dog-friendly atmosphere. I was driving up 267 from the southern side of Avon around 11:45 and was like "Holy sweet frozen deliciousness! And it's lunch time!!" I pulled in, parked the car, and prepared to be frost bitten for the first time. I ordered a chili cheese dog and a cookie dough Freeze. The dog was really yummy! It was a sizable tube steak, not those finger-width ones you find at most places. There were NO ONIONS in the chili, a huge plus for me as onions are my main food nemesis (along with lettuce). There was plenty of dough and chocolate chips in the Freeze and even though I ordered "small," it was a pretty good serving of ice cream. Which brings me 'round to this: real, creamy, yummy, vanilla flavored dairy ice cream, NOT your bland run-of-the-mill soft serve. Service was very quick. My total for lunch was $8.04 which I thought "Wow-that's expensive for a hot dog and ice cream" until I saw that the portion sizes were larger than I had anticipated. There are picnic tables with umbrellas at the front of the place OR you can dine on a covered patio with tables and chairs at the back. The drive-thru speaker is cleverly obscured by a large shrub so people aren't gawking at you. I was impressed that when the drive-thru line reached 4 cars, a girl came out the back door with a chocolate soft-serve cone and delivered it to the car at the end of the line, "Here's your chocolate cone, ma'am." She took the lady's payment and hustled inside for change. She was smiling and pleasant the entire time. There are pretty flowers planted all around the property.
