All I can say is, you get what you pay for. The ticket was dirt cheap from Vegas to IAD. Too good to pass down for last minute. Non-stop. I couldn't resist, even after reading previous reviews. We bought the "works" and it was well worth it. We got to pick our seats, got carry-on and checked luggage, priority seating, plus more. As you can see leg room for days, full size tray, and reclining seats in the front. We had good weather, flew non-stop, and our plane left on time and arrived early both way to and from IAD to LAS. We didn't have any interaction with the counter but the flight attendants were very nice and professional. Felt like any other airline-- I booked online and checked in online both times. My boyfriend and I were traveling for a wedding and shared one checked bag ($15) and I brought my purse which was free to carry. Only an hour flight, so the snacks weren't missed and we paid extra to pick our own seats. Overall our two round trip tickets with flight insurance were still cheaper than one round trip on another airline. Wouldn't use this airline for longer trips, but it was perfect in the situation. Our first flight was only 20 minutes late and our second was right on time. We had a nonstop to Cincinnati so we weren't worried about missing a connection. All of their staff were friendly, one even joked about the airline's business model! Good for independent people and the well traveled. My new last resort in flying. When we arrived at the gate it said the flight was "on time", but the time displayed was roughly 2 hours later than the scheduled departure time. Okay, fine, technically we were flying two time zones away, but that math just doesn't work, particularity when trying to make a connector with a 90+ minute layover. No mention of the delay when we dropped our bags. No gate agent until about an hour before the new departure time. The system wouldn't allow her to book us onto another flight at our connection airport, that is a function only allowed after tolerating the first leg of the trip; her best offering was to re-book us the following day which oh by the way, inbound weather at the departing airport was not looking good for travel the following day. Two days later via email it is stated that the delay was due to maintenance. Seriously, it took 2 days to tell us that? Even the flight crew didn't know why we had been delayed by the time we landed on that flight. If you must fly Frontier, by all means pay the upgrade to Classic Plus. Otherwise you will pay $25 for your checked bag and $30 for your carry-on (each way). Factor that they do not participate in TSA pre check and I am saving Frontier as a choice of last resort. read more

TERRIBLE! HORRIBLE! AWFUL! This used to be one of the nicer smaller airline companies to fly with and now it's just a shit show. Fares can be low but they'll literally charge you for every single thing - carry on - seat assignment - snacks - drinks. Literally they put you through an inquisition about your carry on and then examine it to see what they'll charge you. Then when you get on the plane the stewards are there guarding the overhead bins to see if you're allowed to put something up there. I'm sure if they could they'd charge you for toilet paper and for use of the magazine compartment in front of you plus a surcharge if you bring your own drink or snack. Tip - if you pay for the first two rows chances are your carry on will be behind you in the overhead compartment and it'll be a pain in the butt for you to try to get when you land and everyone stands up and then it's a free for all. They do permit you a personal item at no charge but they'll aggressively scrutinize it to see if they'll charge you for it. Gate agent was terrible and mumbled to where people weren't sure what she had said. Stewardesses were nice. Pay a little more and travel with another airline unless you have no carry on and are fasting for the duration of your travel. read more

Poor Frontier has such horrible reviews but I must say for my 1st time flying with them it really wasn't bad. Ok, yes u gotta pay for carryon but if u look up the airline fees in advance then u would know this. I was only traveling for a few days so I was able to put everything in a tote. I do believe they charge for refreshments but I already had food & a drink from one of the airport restaurants so I was good. My flight was a little over 2 hours & it was a good flight especially for the price. The seats didn't recline but it's not like u can kick back & throw your feet up on other flights so I'm not sure why this is such a big deal to people. One thing that was a tad bit annoying was how they try to sell u their credit card. I never experienced this with any other airline before & after the attendant's talk about it they then walk up & down the aisle with credit card applications. The worst customer service and worst airline personal service. We purchased extra Leg room at the front bulkhead and had the window and aisle seat. A young passenger with her huge "personal service" dog sat in between, but her dog took all three seats leg room. I asked the passenger why she needed to take a dog with her and her answer was surprisingly honest. She said she didn't want to leave her dog home alone. I asked Frontier Customer Service for a refund of the additional fee for the change in seating giving us additional leg room and was told by "Jason" that "we do not refund fees." Even after a full explanation the messaging abruptly stopped. The plane personnel could have cared less. They overbooked her flight, tried to bump her to a 1 stop in LA (we live in Virginia) and then they told her that because she was traveling with a pet that she might not get the flight at all. Don't be deceived by the low price: they will nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING, even carry-on baggage. In the end, it is more expensive for lower quality service. In terms of punctuality, let me put it this way: We were supposed to leave two hours ago. They just made everyone get OFF THE AIRPLANE because of a miscommunication regarding a maintenance issue. Now they are WAIT ING TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIND THE PART THEY NEED to then install it, which will take an hour. After having the entire plane empty out, they have only one attendant helping everyone. I was basically informed that they still don't have the part and do not know if/when they will get it. They only have one plane and are not partnered with other airlines. Our options are either wait and see or be refunded. Next available flight leaves tomorrow. I've experienced similar problems with other airlines, but they always rebooted me with ANOTHER airline to ensure I reached my destination. This is ridiculous. Update 2: after 6 hours of waiting and being told they were fixing the problem, the flight was cancelled. They have "no partnership with other airlines" so they couldn't get us on another flight till tomorrow. The reason for cancelling? "too long of a delay". Run from this airline. Do not use it. Well, I did it. It took 2 years but I booked 3 flights on Frontier because of the convenience. My previous review outlines my thoughts on Frontier (I should have read it before booking). Anyhow, I had a question with regard to the carry on bag fee, a discount was offered at the time of booking and I missed it on one reservation. My fault no excuses. The problem was finding a customer service agent that understood what I was requesting that is, the discounted fee for the carry on bag. I made the initial request within an hour of the reservation. After 2 agents in a non US call center who did not understand the issue, I requested a customer service agent in the US. I was told that the request could not be honored because I could only put back in the queue and I may or may not reach someone in the US. I am on the phone now with yet another non US agent who is really trying very hard to help. She is unable to grant the request and is seeking advice from a supervisor, I have been on the phone now (this call) 48:15. Update @ 54:16 the request for the discount has been granted, will now be providing payment information. Note to self. Read my Yelp reviews before booking on Frontier again. read more

Worst airline I've ever traveled on!!! First the messed up my flight and stuck me on a 12 hours layover. Then they lost my bag. When they recovered it at DCA, they refused to bring it to me. Once they finally did, I noticed that they had stolen an expensive bottle of wine from it! Their customer service is horrible. I don't usually write reviews, but when I do, it's because I've had an exceptional experience - either a one star or a five. In this case, it was a one. Frontier just recently began offering service out of IAD and had a $100RT flight to O'Hare, so I took a chance. Not only does Frontier nickel and dime for every little thing ($30 for a carry-on!), but there were maintenance issues with the plane - it wouldn't start. So a remote starter was brought in and then that didn't have enough fuel to do what it was supposed to, and it was blamed on 'the maintenance company we contract with at this airport'. (Yes, the flight crew was happy to give us all these details and pass the blame.) There was a lap baby in the seat next to me who screamed through the entire delay and most of the 2.5 hour flight, as well as kicking me and the woman in the window seat multple times. I've never seen a flight crew completely ignore a screaming child, especially for that length of time. I was in the third row of the plane, so it wasn't that they had to go out of their way. No one at any point stopped to ask if they could get the child water or juice, or offer something (anything!) to help calm her down. The most response I had was from the gentleman across the aisle who had a spare set of headphones and offered them to me to help muffle the noise. To make matters worse, I filed a complaint with Frontier the evening after the flight. It's been nine days and I haven't received any sort of response, which is where this review comes in. Had there at least been an acknowledgement of some sort, I might feel differently, but there's been complete silence. There really is truth in the adage that you get what you pay for. A discount airline that will nickel and dime you every chance they get. Let's start with the positives of Frontier - they tend to be the cheapest airline around, they are rarely late (in fact both times our planes landed early), the staff is very nice and accommodating, and the seats are comfortable (three on each side of the plane). The largest problem is that, by giving customers the lowest airfare, they sneak in a whole bunch of charges that make them probably more expensive than their competitors. Let's talk baggage fees - for checked baggage it ranges from $15-25 for the first bag then gets more expensive from there. They even charge for a carry on - between $25-30! Fortunately you are allowed one "personal item" for free such as a purse or backpack, but only within defined parameters. Want to pick your own seat? That will cost you $3-$50 depending on when you choose and the location. Want to watch the in-flight movie or the DirectTV the plane offers? That will cost you too - and the longer the flight the more expensive it becomes. And yes, drinks and food will also cost you. I'm surprised they didn't charge me for the air I breathed while on the flight. Overall, if you're considering Frontier, be sure to add at least $35 EACH WAY to the ticket price per person before making your decision. If you can travel light and don't need movies/drinks and don't mind the airline randomly giving you a seat, then it's probably a good value. read more

My in-laws landed in DC yesterday afternoon to find their luggage had been lost. They were told it would be delivered by 4 a.m. in the morning as it was arriving on a later flight. After waking up and still no luggage we made another call and were told it had been switched to yet a different driver and given the same run around that it would be delivered by 4 in the morning. They gave us a number to call in the morning. Called the guy and he said he would be 30 minutes to and hour. After 3 hours he now says it will be another 30-40 minutes. Holy poop and fart this airlines sucks. I paid extra to sit up front thinking I would get some extra leg room and all I got was a seat I can't tuck a bag in that is far more cramped than a regular seat. Not to mention the two front bins are reserved for airline equipment and crew carry ons. So I got stuck taking my carry on (that I had to pay to bring on) all the way to the back of the plane. That's was a blast ! As far as the seat goes I might as well be leaning on a board since all the cushioning in my seat was non existent. Just a huge disappointment. I prefer Southwest. THE WORST. We had a 7:00 a.m. flight from DCA. It was originally delayed a bit, then allowed us to board the plane only to advise there was an issue and we had to unboard the plane. The flight was delayed 2-3 times after that. We were all told to come together in a small circle like we were at a meeting only to be told there was a hole in the wing of the plane. They had to repair and then do safety checks. We finally left at 1:53 p.m. We get to our layover DEN and were told the wrong gate number. We got in line to get on the plane but it was going to Missouri and NOT Vegas. We had to wait at least an hour for our flight. The return home was even worst. The flight had a dog in the seat in front of us and it pooped in the crate. We had to smell the feces the entire trip. Then the lady sprayed some 'smell good' in the air which made us sick. We get back to DEN only to be told that there were no open gates for us to unboard the plane; therefore, missing our connecting flight. We're then told that the next flight to DCA was the next day at 7:20 a.m. There was another flight to Dulles Virginia that we could take at 12:59 a.m. And because I 'agreed' to go to Dulles they do not feel like that was an issue even though it was another state that they dropped me off (Virginia instead of Washington DC) and we had to Uber back to our car. Every seat we paid for, we did not get. We were unable to sit with each other. It was $128 for the seats. And due me booking through Hotwire, I was charged extra for using a service to check our 2 bags which ended up costing $180 one way and additional $90 on the return. Also, they broke the handle on my bag and they told me that I should've reported it at the airport that it was too late to correct that issue. And don't expect any snacks on the plane so be sure to take some. They ONLY offered a cup of water. You paid $3.99 for chex mix and $2.99 for a bag of M&Ms. Additionally, the service desk only had 2 people at every airport and the lines were long to check a bag. The seats do not recline. I spoke with 2 people regarding my complaint and on hold for an hour and was offered a $50 voucher to fly Frontier again...Get the F outta here! NEVER EVER AGAIN read more

My mom and I were on flight 455 going to Dulles to Denver to connect to a flight to SNA. and our flight attendants were Annette and Melody. My mom and I had the window and middle seat and being as though my mother is 71 - I wanted to see if we could switch seats once boarding was complete. I attempted to ask Melissa a question. She responded "I'm not going to do that right now" and walked away then whispered in Annette's ear. I asked would she allow me to finish asking my question, but she did not. Quite embarrassing. Shortly after... Annette came by and listened and was pleasant. She allowed us to switch seats and was just a nice person. What can say. Yes Frontier Airlines, it is low cost airfare when you purchase the tickets. We were given the airfare tix and now we've got to add the cost of seats and bags, drinks and snacks. What was a low price jumped to a fare equal or more than American, Delta, United, Southwest, Jet Blue would have charged without the excessive $$ addons. We flew from JWA to DCA via Denver round trip. So, the seats we paid extra for are just cushiony enough and we were lucky enough to get the carryon overhead stowage. Yes, that had to be paid and I wondered about the last ones on board that paid but could not place their carryons anywhere....do they get their money back? Probably not, since it stayed on board to their destinations. We must have been lucky as the only bad thing that happened was to sit on the tarmac at Denver for 25 minutes because the gate was occupied...got changed to a different gate and making our connections just barely in time. The flight attendants were fine and doing their best to accommodate flyers with different attitudes. They were also pushing the credit card and Frontier Airlines sign ups. Would we fly Frontier Airlines again. Knowing that there are other airlines, we might have to think hard and do the pros and cons before making that decision. read more

Oh man...where do I begin. If I could give this place half a star I would. I understand that almost ALL airlines are charging for things that they never had to before just to make up for their fuel or some BS reason, but when you start charging people to have a seat (not a special seat, just a seat to sit down in during your flight), it gets to be a bit beyond my tolerance level. I had to book a flight for a friends wedding in the west and it seemed that they were the only airline flying into and out of DCA non-stop, so I really only had this option for my trip. When I arrived, I only found out about 2 hours prior to our departure time via email (which is when you are told to arrive these days due to TSA etc.), that my flight was delayed. Fine, things happen, it was about a 45 minute delay and the pilot made time up while we were in the air so I landed at the regularly scheduled arrival time (which was great). At my friends wedding, I found out that Frontier airlines is KNOWN for delayed flights for pretty much every single destination. Apparently this airline is NEVER leaving on time but making people pay an arm and a leg for it. I wish I'd read reviews before I settled on this, because if I'd booked Delta, it would have cost the same but with MUCH better service and at least I'd get free drinks and snacks. My flight home was...delayed (shocker). This time by 2 hours though, which DID make a difference and interfered with my travel in getting physically home. This one WAS a problem because this meant that getting home at 9:45pm was now going to be closer to midnight (when practically every single place is shut down once you land with no way of getting successful ground transportation). I'm glad I took carry on, not only because it was cheaper than checking my bag, but also I could board the very last Metro train to get home instead of paying another $70+ for a cab. My lesson is that I will never depend on/ or travel on their airline again for the following reasons: - Pay for a seat (even though you have no option but to sit down in an airplane) - Pay for small items (glass of OJ $1.50), I didn't even bother, but the guy next to me got that, I thought that at least juice and water would be free...NOPE! - Pay for carrying any item on board (carry-on, purse, whatever it is you'll be paying for it) - Pay for travel insurance that apparently doesn't cover you for certain flights, including my own (so WTF am I paying it for?) - Non-refundable ticket (you're screwed) - Delayed. DELAYED and one last time, DELAYED. If you plan on using them to connect to another flight GOOD LUCK! You probably won't make your connecting flight, (you've been warned) Basically this airline got one thing right, they fly and airplane and if all you're looking for is a ride that's non-stop once you actually can get on board, then they can do that...but I will absolutely be looking to use other airline providers. read more

I gave Frontier one star in a review in February. I give it one star again, since rating it zero or negative stars isn't an option. My son flew Frontier again this week solely because it compensated him for inconvenience it caused him in February with vouchers he could use only on Frontier. The vouchers partially paid for a future ticket. This week Frontier made my son wait three hours at his departure airport and another six in a transit lounge in Denver. Tracking down his luggage, which didn't arrive with him, took a day and a half of phone calls. I described in a February review that Frontier made my son wait 11 hours in a departure lounge. It then took countless phone calls and many hours to get his luggage after it didn't arrive with him. Frontier's owners reportedly are transforming it into an "ultra low cost carrier" like Spirit Airlines, which they previously owned. The two airlines share a business model. They offer low prices with lots of additional charges and all too often service like my son experienced. Consumer Reports writes that Spirit received one of the lowest overall scores for any service company it has ever rated. My son's experience and many other reviews of Frontier suggest that it may match Spirit's dismal record. Frontier compensated my son this week with another voucher. We won't use it. read more

Dear Southwest, I am sorry I cheated on you with Frontier. I feel guilty about it, and you will be happy to hear that karma bit me in the rear. I was trying to save some money and thought I was being clever. I was, however, forced to check a small suitcase that I usually use as a carry-on (and pay extra for it), so it turns out that I am not so smart after all. I now appreciate all those times you let me bring (for no extra cost) both a carry on (small suitcase) as well as a personal item (compact French horn) on the plane with me. I miss how you do not charge fees for the occasional necessary checked bag. Frontier charged folks for a carry-on if they did not book directly from their website as well as charging for checked luggage. So, it seems to me that unless you travel lightly with them, ie. a purse or laptop filled solely with underwear and a toothbrush, you are sol and will pay. One of the flights (4 hours) only had 1 working toilet for everyone on the plane and the second flight did not have running water in the wc- so I decided to shut my body down during both flights. I could go on about the woman taking tickets from people boarding the plane in DC: rolling her eyes at passengers etc. , but... I won't. The pilots were all very good, so kudos to all of them for being informative over the pa and for smooth flights and landings. The business side and policies are not their fault, so I award them two stars. Southwest, I feel pretty bad about taking you for granted and hope you will forgive me and take me back into the fold. Despite their excellent marketing efforts, Frontier is a cut rate airline and its shows the moment you checkin. The airline hits you with hidden costs not advertised at booking. You have to pay for your seat, checked baggage, and each carry on bag. Let me say that again- you have to pay for each carry on bag. The airline does not participate in TSA pre-check, so event if you have a trusted traveler number, too bad. The check in desk at the airport is automated and is only manned if there is a flight within two hours. If you need help outside that time, there is a message for you to call customer support. I called customer support and spoke with some one who could not help me because their English language skills were simply not up to par. Never flying this airline again unless it is the ONLY choice. Update-customer service for return flight is equally terrible. Getting in touch with a real person is not easy. Could not check in online due to server error. Website shows several separate purchases to my card for the same thing. What a joke! read more

DO NOT fly on Frontier Airlines (FA) -- this is the worst airline I have flown on since I flew on the low budget People's Express Airlines in the 1980s! I recently flew on FA from DC to Houston via Denver. When we arrived at our gate in Denver (10 minutes early -- yeah, right!?!?!) we ended up waiting for our gate for 30 minutes which made myself and 3 other Houston passengers scrambling to make our connection! Did FA make an announcement on the plane asking customers without tight connections to let those of use with tight (10 minute) connections get off first -- of course NOT!! Then you may wonder if FA would work hard to get our checked luggage to our Houston flight (don't forget on FA they charge you more to carry your bag onto the plane than to check it -- yes, you read that correctly!!). Right, stupid question -- there is no way FA would do the right thing and make sure our luggage made our flight even though it was the last flight of the night from Denver to Houston. So then you might thing the FA folks in Houston would, you know, go out of their way to help us get some clothing for the night and maybe a toothbrush or something??? Okay, yes that is a rhetorical question! The FA folks first reaction was, yeah we know this happens ALL the time! And when we asked about $$ for cloths and accessories at first they balked and said we would have to call customer service, WHAT??? Finally, after we all complained loudly some local FA manager gave us an overnight kit and $75 voucher to buy clothes. Then when we asked when we could expect to get our luggage, they said some time tomorrow, but we don't know when. The first flight from Denver to Houston lands at 11:00am. So I asked them to call me as soon as my luggage arrived in Houston, which more or less they did. I received a phone call the next day around noon asking me if I wanted to come back to the airport to pick up my luggage or if I wanted it delivered to my hotel - DUH!?!?!?!? So I told them yes I wanted my luggage delivered to my hotel and asked when it would be delivered (my hotel is 25 minutes or so from the airport) and they said a few hours -- okay, fine I am out anyway. So when you may ask did my luggage arrive at my hotel (which is 25 minutes from the airport)? 9:30pm -- yes, some 10.5 hours AFTER is arrived in Houston!! YUP, awesome customer service is FA's calling card!! The FA motto is 'low fares, done right'. HAH -- how about 'NOT so low fares, after fees for everything except using the bathroom -- which may be coming next-- done absolutely HORRIBLY!!!!' And did I mention that the seats on the plane, which do not recline, are the most uncomfortable seats I have experienced in nearly 30 years! AGAIN, DO NOT FLY on the HORRIBLE AIRLINE -- drive, take the bus or even walk instead, you'll be doing yourself a favor!!! read more

I have been flying every 3 months for over 10 years. I have never had a more miserable experience ever. Thanks to the incompetence of this company I almost lost my job. I was supposed to leave Orlando and fly to Dulles on Sept 2nd. The flight was first delayed for 2 hours, we were then told the flight was in route. Half an hour later they said the airplane still had not left Dulles and it would now be a 3 hour delay. 1 hour after that announcement the flight had been canceled due to weather (I called a friend in DC, NC, and SC the weather was fine it drizzled for 30 min in DC). They couldn't get me on a flight for another 2 days and would not pay for a hotel. The refund would take 7 to 10 business days. Here I am sitting in an airport 800 miles from home with 130 dollars, not nearly enough to book a flight and I needed to be back in 12 hours for work. I ended up with 3 other complete strangers (who turned out to be some awesome people) in the same boat. We ended splitting a rental car and driving up from Florida to VA. 14 hours. I realized that my friend had just booked our flight on your airline to go to Colorado on the 26th of October about 2 weeks ago. After calling customer service and talking to multiple different people wasting more of my time, all they can say is sorry your flight in on October 26th (two months from now) is non refundable and there is nothing we can to but say sorry. We will refund the ticket from the canceled flight you were supposed to be on. You may call customer relations at this # or talk to them on the website. They are only open from 8-11 to talk. (however they are open 10 hours a day 7 days a week to book a flight) This means I have to take more time off work to deal with this. Yet again worst experience of my life. I will be reporting this to as many people as possible since your customer service and company is a complete joke. I will not stop until I get compensated for my experience and or are able to cancel my flight 2 months from now with a full refund. If neither happen I will keep sending this message to the world in every way shape and form until you all are out of business. I wish I could give them zero stars. If this airline doesn't make serious changes soon, it will go out of business in a matter of years. First of all, this airline is a joke. They charge for your personal item, they charge for your checked bag, and they charge for soda and crackers. From DC to Atlanta, the flight attendants were rude to everyone around me. The guy sitting behind me and I had a laugh over how absurdly rude they were to him. Plus they are notorious for over-booking flights. I knew this in advance, but I was in a financial pinch, which is ironic because I paid dearly to get home. I have never missed a flight before in my life until I mistakenly chose Frontier. Yesterday in Atlanta, Frontier closed check-in ONE WHOLE HOUR before take off. And the customer service agents said "We can't give you boarding passes because the system shuts down an hour before take off." Hey, I know that showing up to the airport one hour before take-off was gutsy, but in all honesty, it took me 20 minutes to get through security (after I tearfully spent $400 of hard-earned babystting savings on a new ticket with a different airline). Customer service agents were irreverent of the financial danger some people were in, unhelpful, and even snarky. What's more, EIGHT people missed that flight. We were all standing at the desk with our jaws on the ground. This gets more ridiculous. They couldn't re-book our flights at the front desk. At ANY other airline in the Atlanta airport, you can book a flight at a customer service desk. But these women working for Frontier were shrugging their shoulders while eight customers stood asking for help, some of them sobbing. They gave us a customer service phone number to call so we could get credit for our flight. Okay, not that I ever WANT to fly this airline again in my life, but this "customer service phone line" had a 28 MINUTE WAIT. I have not once used hyperbole in this rating. One of the people who missed theier flight was an unpaid Fellow at an organization in DC, and she simply did not have the money to re-book a new flight. What's more, she is from Taiwan and had no family to call Stateside. Frontier made NO effort to help her out. I had a reservation to fly back to DC from Atlanta on a Sunday so I could make it to work on Monday. The next Frontier flight was on TUESDAY. And they were charging an $80 re-booking fee. I guffawed.
