    Broken armrest!
    Maria G.

Normally I try not to let airlines complaint get in the way just because travelers just want to get to their designations safely without much delay. But based on my most recent experience, it was pretty bad. Staff here (at least during my visit) at Reagan had really bad attitudes and even yelled at its customers. I don't really understand. If you are giving out instructions, you don't have to yell. Like David So said, yelling doesn't make things better or instructions clearer. The thing is since Delta has been in the business for so long and has more flight connections than many other airlines so it probably doesn't really care for its customers like newer company (e.g. virgin). I very much prefer Virgin America since the airplane is newer and most staff are well trained. But it doesn't have the wide of kind coverage/destinations like delta. I'm not going to say something like "I will never fly delta again" because I probably have already said it years ago. Normally in flight staff is pretty nice in my experience. Pilots always keep you informed about any updates. However, airport staff is not often so nice. I am just going to briefly describe my recent experience flying with delta. Well, when I first walked up to my seat, there was food scraps left on my seat everywhere. And I mean everywhere. The seat was so dirty and I could not sit down. I had to wipe my seat clean. Then, some type of engine died while we were pulling on the driveway before taking off. It meant like all the lights went out and fans stopped working. There was no air coming in. A lot of people were having trouble breathing but people were very civil (there was no complaint). It was 86 degrees outside so not so hot. But it became difficult to breathe after not having air coming in longer than 10minutes. Hey everything has technical difficulty, but you don't think about that when you are with hundres of other people in the same plane with recycled air and gross stuff on your seat. I even started taking extra time to read through instructions to prepare emergency landing. We waited at the gate for around 40 min before finally fixing the engine and taking off. Armrest wasn't working so I had to sit up uncomfotably (the button wasn't working so I couldn't not adjust my seat back either) during my 4-hour flight. See pictures for proof. The window was half broken. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/TUuckzKq4Q9H_OH8nLe9Ug?select=RgJ4euCvlD5MlsFKi09fJw#mQEel-FH_aZooluKcyMRcg http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/TUuckzKq4Q9H_OH8nLe9Ug?select=RgJ4euCvlD5MlsFKi09fJw#QIosncod5AIBa9khgEZ8EQ But hey, this was not as bad as my 10-hour flight to Amsterdam where the entertainment system was down (hence no music and my iPod was out of battery) and the 5-years old who sat next to me yelled continuously for 8 hours. (I got lots of check-ins and sympathy from nearly passengers after landing).

Now, it's American Airlines that I frequent, along with past America West Airlines and US Airways patrons. I find that, as with any other airline, customer service is often better than not, but there are always a few hiccups. With American Airlines, you can get someone on the phone, on a chat, on social media, or in person to assist, and with some respect on our part, we can often get what we need. I rarely have luggage issues, though there was one time when my bag was damaged, and American Airlines gave me a replacement while they repaired my original. I regularly fly in and out of the American Airlines gates at Phoenix Sky Harbor and frequent hubs like Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago O'Hare, Philadelphia, and Charlotte. I even make it out to Washington DC on occasion, having either visited the area or have a layover through as I did today. Often, my travels require a connecting flight, and my flights are, more often than not, on time and without delays in departure or arrival. With status, an American Airlines credit card, and membership in CLEAR and Global Entry, I do not pay for luggage, receive priority luggage handling, board early, speed through security, sometimes receive upgrades, and access lounges. Traveling has become more of a hobby and a habit, and with American Airlines as my go-to airline, I accumulate miles quickly while also earning status and Loyalty Point rewards. I have two travel premium credit cards: the AAdvantage Executive Mastercard, which offers complimentary Admirals Club access, and the American Express Platinum card, which offers lounge access, travel credits, and complimentary CLEAR and Global Entry memberships. With these two credit cards, I can access the Admiral's Club at Orlando International Airport or The Club at MCO. I may even be able to visit the Plaza Premium Lounge, though I've never checked. Also, through T-Mobile, I received free Wi-Fi on American Airlines flights (though now it is free for anyone with an AAdvantage account). Through my American Airlines AAdvantage status, I get upgrades or free paid snacks and drinks on flights, along with other benefits. To retain status each year, you need to earn Loyalty Point through flying, credit card spending, and promotions. You can also earn Loyalty point rewards after hitting 175,000 points, 250,000 points, and so on. While it is difficult to receive upgrades due to the large number of people at the Executive Platinum status tier, the benefits I do receive are worthwhile. I have also experienced technical issues on flights, but not enough to cause me to abandon American Airlines, especially when every other airline faces the same challenges. All in all, American Airlines is a great company and does as well, if not better than, any of the other major airlines.

Customer Service certainly could improve. But part of that service, in addition to the reps who you…read morespeak to on the phone, is having a RELIABLE flight schedule. I am looking at Yelp reviews from 4 years ago which sound exactly like my experience today. A delayed flight in Vermont caused a group of 4 to miss our connecting flight, which inexplicably decided to leave 10 minutes EARLY as we were RUNNING to our gate. Unnecessary. Then we call the airline and get some rude woman and then her rude supervisor, neither of whom knew American Airline's policy on accommodation when THEIR flight delay caused us to be stranded in D.C. overnight. They both told us we didn't qualify for hotel rooms and food vouchers, which was not correct. Finally I called and got a different representative with completely different results. This morning we arrived at the airport hours early and...you guessed it, our flight is delayed once again. I hate Frontier Airlines for their predatory bag fees, but American Airlines' issue is customer service based. DO BETTER AA. Do better! Monitor your customer service reps calls. And get your flights on schedule. People spend a lot of money on travel plans. The airline flight schedule should NOT be unreliable. I will be very wary of using this airline in the future. I certainly cannot recommend it.

I booked Business Class for an overnight flight because I had an important meeting the morning after landing, and I wanted to arrive feeling rested. Looking back, I think it was one of the best travel decisions I've made. The premium experience was noticeable from the moment I entered the airport until I collected my luggage after landing. Check-in took only a few minutes thanks to the dedicated Business Class counters. There were hardly any passengers waiting, so the entire process felt smooth and efficient. After dropping off my bags, I headed through security and made my way to the lounge. The atmosphere inside was peaceful, with comfortable seating, plenty of natural light, and a good variety of freshly prepared food. I spent almost an hour there enjoying dinner, reading a book, and charging my devices before boarding was announced. Being among the first passengers to board meant I had plenty of time to settle into my seat without feeling rushed. The cabin crew greeted every passenger warmly, helped with carry-on luggage whenever needed, and made everyone feel genuinely welcome. My seat was spacious enough to stretch out comfortably, and I immediately noticed how much quieter the cabin felt compared to previous Economy flights. After takeoff, I explored the entertainment system while enjoying a drink. The movie selection was excellent, and the screen quality made watching films enjoyable during the long journey. Dinner was served shortly afterward, and I was impressed by both the presentation and taste. The meal felt much closer to restaurant-quality than typical airline food, and everything was served at a comfortable pace rather than feeling rushed. One thing I appreciated throughout the flight was the professionalism of the cabin crew. They were attentive whenever someone needed assistance, but they also respected passengers who wanted to sleep or work quietly. I never felt interrupted, yet help was always available whenever I asked. Later in the flight, I reclined the seat into a fully flat bed, used the provided pillow and blanket, and managed to sleep for almost six hours. That alone completely changed my travel experience. Instead of waking up with a sore back and stiff legs, I woke up feeling surprisingly refreshed. As we began our descent, breakfast was served, giving me enough time to wake up before arrival. Once we landed, priority baggage delivery meant my suitcase arrived quickly, allowing me to leave the airport without waiting around the baggage carousel. Overall, what impressed me most wasn't a single feature but how consistently comfortable the entire journey felt. From the efficient airport experience and relaxing lounge to the comfortable cabin, excellent food, and attentive crew, every stage of the trip was well executed. For anyone taking a long international flight, I think Business Class makes a noticeable difference, especially if arriving well-rested is important.
