I go in there with a friend. Order a Tuna melt, water and a cup of potato salad $17.90. WOW Then the lady cook yells out hurry up your holding up the line. There was nobody behind us. Any my friend goes next door to get a coffee. I demanded money back after the cook said 1 hour wait. Bathroom had cock roaches on the floor. Dirty place. So I go buy bread Tuna and pasta salad Cost me 2.00 vs 17.90 Save your money. they should be licking your feet for business

This is the best testing pastrami I have had in years! I have lived all over the world and I live in Atlanta now, but I flew all the way here for this pastrami. It is worth my trip!

The staff was very friendly and my sandwich was good. But the show stopper was their corn beef and Swiss egg rolls! They are delicious. If you are in the area give it a try.

I ordered a corn beef salad for lunch and this what i got!! $14 for this amount of food is a rip off!! The salad wasn't good the lettuce was old and it barely had any meat in it. I will never order from there again and neither should you!

Pastrami #6 weather. Avoid!!! Tasted gross and got sick after eating it.

We stopped in here as we were in the area. I too was surprised that the ratings were low, deli is always calling my name! They are in a strip mall on Greenfield near 696 in Southfield on the Oak Park border. Fresh food with swift service. Very pleasant owner served us up a couple of sandwiches with home made chips and a new and old pickle on the side. I had the #1 my husband had the number #15. We were both pleased. Please see pictures. I would definitely return and recommend it!

Remember: Bring cash! Used a card, and the cashier had to type it in manually (it was nice of them to do that). Now for the food - We got a few meats--turkey pastrami, corned beef and a "wildcard" (I let the staff pick, and whatever it was it was good). We also got the special spices etc. I do prefer a more of an Italian sandwich on a hard roll, so I'm not sure the soft onion roll is for me. If you like a cold sandwich un-toasted and generally basic with a bit of a twist, you will love this! My husband and I enjoyed the sandwich (split it, and they put mayo on half at my request). It's a charming spot, quality food and I'm glad we tried it. Skip the spicy potato salad. It was bland, sadly.

My friends have always ordered carryout, but ordering in person was so much more enjoyable. While the interior is by-and-large a throwback to the past; the staff is most definitely a breath of fresh air. They're all kind, patient, and make the best sandwiches! I had the 2 meats (turkey and turkey pastrami) with everything sans pickles plus love spice on an onion roll. I'm beyond satisfied and it was divine! The price was reasonable for a deli sandwich at $10 before tax and 4% card fee. I usually go for corned beef at the deli, but this was a leaner yet equally tasty option in an attempt to be more health conscious. Needless to say, I'll be back! Thanks, ladies!

They have an extensive menu to include vegetarian options which was nice to see. They also have many local brands to include chips, sodas, and other small local business products (caramelized nuts, baked goods, etc.)! On the topic of local businesses, they also had a board which allowed local owners to post business cards and event alerts, fantastic for drawing the community together. Now, I ordered a Reuben as a lover of corned beef and sauerkraut. It was delicious and sizeable, a fair portion size for the money as well. The chips were also delicious having gone for the salt, pepper, and onion variety. A solid crunch and bursting with flavor. Among the positives I have two negatives, both of which are not adequate enough to lower their star ranking. Firstly, it took around 20-25 minutes to get our food after ordering. I rarely hold timing against a restaurant as having worked in food, I know lunch rush exists and things happen. To mitigate this (for those in the area) I believe they have an online ordering system, which I would recommend utilizing! Secondly, they do not have indoor seating, so it is a very grab and go type establishment. This is counteracted by the multitude of benches around Royal Oak, though it would be nice to have some amount of seating, especially for those with accessibility needs and those waiting on their food. Overall, Oak House Deli is solid and delicious and I will definitely stop by again when I am in the area!

Thankfully, the hostess told us about their basement bar area where you can grab drinks and snacks while waiting. The drinks were REALLY good, and you can also order appetizers down there. Once we made it upstairs, we grabbed bar seating and talked to a few people around us who all said this was their favorite spot. Our bartender was amazing -- super attentive, explained the menu well, and gave great recommendations. We ordered the wings (perfectly seasoned and so good) and the chicken sandwich with buffalo added for a little spice... absolutely delicious. I also tried the pistachio martini, and wow definitely one of my favorite drinks I've had in a while. Overall, such a great experience from the atmosphere to the food and service. Their tuna is unreal--dangerously good--and the corned beef is everything you'd hope for and more. I'll be honest: when you walk up, the place doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside, it feels like a small, old‑school grocery store that hasn't changed much over the years. But don't let that fool you for a second. Don't eat here. No one in there right mind would pay $20 for a simple sandwich. There is no reason a sandwich with two slices of bread, some sandwich meat, bottled Russian dressing, and two slices of cheese would cost anywhere over $8... I have been patronizing this restaurant for over 12 years. I have a feeling that they are taking advantage of their long standing position in this community, a loyal customer base, and customers not understanding pricing of beef.. 6 slices of corn beef is about $3, two slices of rye bread is $0.50, two slices of Swiss cheese is $0.20, a spread of Russian dressing is $0.05.... And they will charge you $20 for a sandwich..... this is awful, disloyal, and advantageous. Don't go here, find another place for lunch that respects hard working people trying to get a decent sandwich. Their food is great, but no intelligent person is paying $20 for a sandwich. It's almost laughable if it wasn't so disrespectful.
