I so wanted this restaurant to be good but unfortunately it was average on food, service and also even though it was quite hot outside, the AC was struggling to keep up with the temperature. The service staff was rushed and it showed, especially the elder gentleman - I understand the conditions were very hot and they were quite busy, but there is a reason it's called the service industry and I think he needs a refresher course. The foie gras was small for the cost but it was pleasant (it is the cold pate not the lobe sautéed). I chose the sole meunière, although nicely flavored, it was either cooked too long or old frozen fish because it was tough and rubbery unfortunately. The other reviews are for the most part rate the restaurant high, so I will put it down to a bad day, but for €85+ euros for a meal and two glasses on table wine, I would have expected a little better. Monday was not the night to try and eat. I was excited and chilled to try this place. It was packed and I took a small loud table next to the entrance. I was very much go with the flow. The warning signs started immediately - not enough wait staff. Rushed and haste they tried to stay above water and I tied work with them. Ordered the recommendation of the sole (at 40€) and escargot. Well, no sole asked to have the monk. The escargot where small and dry and not great. So, I cancelled the fish got my check and the hell out of there. I. Frog is the best French restaurant I have been to in Nice. We had frog legs as a starter. It was so delicious, I wanted more when I was done. We had rack of lamb and Duck breast for dinner. Both dishes were excellent. The rack of lamb was prepared just right and it was very tender. We topped the meal with 2 amazing desserts. We wrapped up our meal with Banoffee and a Bavarois framboise et pistache. Both desserts were light and not too sweet. Great way to end our meal. Will definitely recommend this restaurant. Really a bad service issue. The escargot and duck were very good but the food gras was a sour pink slab with no butter like consistency. If I didn't dine in Manhattan NYC perhaps I wouldn't know better. I was asked by the waiter how everything was and told the waiter the fois gras was subpar. He accused me of not knowing fois gras and then in the most outstanding display of poor business announced loudly in front of the entire restaurant that as a Frenchman he knows fois gras better than me. (Obviously I had hoped that was the case when I ordered it, but apparently not). Amazing escargot and steak. The salad nicoise seems very authentic, but a little too fishy for my taste. Which is of course ridiculous, because it is salad nicoise. Just beware if you are ordering it simply because you are in Nice. If you are not that into fish, but looking to try something local, go and purchase some Socca from the market down the street. Thank you to other Yelpers for guiding us off the beaten path to Frog! Trying to avoid the routine tourist cafés along the promenades, we had a wonderful lunch with an ocean breeze managed by well-placed windbreaks. This was our first time having frog legs and they were DELICIOUS... garlic, onion, with dusting of flour - be sure to use the housemade bread to soak up the remaining jus/olive oil. Both the artichoke salad and (surprisingly) the risotto were very light. Salad very lightly dressed so the fresh flavors of arugula and Parmesan were the center of attention. Some may prefer more vinaigrette. Mushroom risotto was notable for real, whole mushrooms, more broth than cream as the base - again delicate flavors. Staff very friendly and switched easily between English and French. Highly recommend ! read more

This place was not wow even though they have high rating from others. We went early so we got lucky without a reservation. The waiter spoke English. They serve bread while you wait for your food which is a plus. The escargot would have tasted better without any sauce. Everything seems to be cooked just right. The frog legs was just lightly pan fried. It's not a place I would go back though since the food taste wasn't wow. I was told Europe is slower pace but the waiting time for the food didn't seem like it was forever at this place. They have wifi but you would have to sit inside to get reception. The toilets were interesting. It was the only restaurant I've encountered with those. The seat were very high so if you are female and short then you would probably have to tippy toe or jump up. read more

Frog legs were not as great as expected. Ours were kind of soggy and soaked in oil, but the flavor was on point. Escargot was delicious with all the flavors hitting the right spot. However the main dishes were not too impressive. We had the lamb shank and sea bass with duck foie gras. The fish was dry and tasteless and the foie gras was too overpowering for my taste. After reading the Yelp reviews my husband and I decided to try Frog on a stopover in Nice. We wanted something good, but not super fancy. I thought the place was just OK -- we've had much better French food on other parts of France and Los Angeles for that matter. We opted to go ala carte and had the escargot, a salad with prawns and gravlax (similar to a shrimp louie), the sea bass, and the beef with shallot butter. The escargot was fine - nothing exceptional. The salad was pretty good, except that the prawns were slightly overcooked. Seabass, again, was fine, nothing exceptional. Beef - slightly over along the edges, but cooked fine in the center. Service was fine, the atmosphere is --okay. It's on a side street not far from the water, the decor is a bit euro, temperate was warm, and it was filled with American + Japanese tourists. Next time I'm in Nice, I'd opt for something a bit more local. Felt a bit like a tourist trap. read more

If you're in Nice you want to be here. The staff are great and very welcoming. Escargots & Frog's Legs on the menu were the main reason for coming here and they did not disappoint!! Also the lobster & lamb mains dishes were very well prepared and satisfying for our mains. The saffron sauce with the lobster was awesome. Creme Broulee & Banofee for dessert were also good; more so the Banofee but only because we had had an amazing brulée just a couple of days before. I found this place after searching for restaurant with escargot. The escargots was okay, it wasn't as buttery as I would like. It had a lot of pesto and oil. I gave this place. 5 star because of another gem we found. The frog legs. They were delicious. The meat was tender and it was flavor perfectly. Our main course was also delicious. My wife had the sea bass and I had the lamb chops. The portion for the sea bass was very generous. They came with potato and roasted jalapeño peppers. Overall it was a great dining experience. One word - snails! A must get! I probably could've eaten that as a meal, but I had to try everything. I ordered the seafood linguine and I'd definitely recommend. It was hearty with seafood. This place is fantastic. I was looking for a place to try some authentic French dishes (most notably frog legs and escargot) and what better place to try them at than a place called Frog? First of all, I thought I would have to wait for a long time because I read some of the reviews online and looked at the food, so I made a reservation, but there was no need for one. We came here on a Thursday night and we were the only ones inside the restaurant (outside the restaurant was pretty full). There aren't many restaurants that I give 5 stars to, but this one had the perfect combination of wonderful service, delicious food, and a great atmosphere. I'll just go through some of the food that we ate: Frog Legs and Escargot - This was my first time trying either of these foods (the person I ate with had eaten both before) and they were to die for. The frog legs were tender, the meat came right off the bone, and the seasoning was delicious. It really did taste just like chicken! The escargot had a great sauce to go along with it and the texture was perfect. Duck and Salmon Carpaccio - What was interesting in this situation is that the Carpaccio was actually cooked. It was sort of like a grilled salmon and the flavors were delicious! It wasn't too overpowering and the overall feel of it was light. That contrasted well with the duck which was a huge portion of duck with a great cherry sauce that was incredible. I had literally no complaints about the food at all! Anyways, it was a wonderful meal and it deserves one of my few five stars. Definitely try it out if you're in Nice and want a great dinner. read more

Down a nondescript alley off The Promenade, Frog looks inviting. Indeed, the interior is pleasant. Like a great many restaurants in Nice, though, the food is quite mediocre. Frog legs are best prepared simply sautéed in oil. These were breaded and not as crisp. The seafood risotto was a real disaster. The rice was swimming in butter or oil and spiny lobster was simply plopped down on top of the rice with no attempt at integration. Because Nice is heavy with tourists, most restaurants don't have to consistently play to a demanding home crowd. Frog seems to fall into this category. read more

Let me start by saying, I was really looking forward to stopping here. I love escargot and this place was known for having it. Before ordering we let the waiter know we were just stopping for wine and apps. Half of our party was vegetarian so we ordered frog legs, escargot, burrata and fries. Though the frog legs and escargot came out quickly, the burrata and fries did not. After a while we asked the waiter when they would be coming out. He looked annoyed and said okay and we saw him go in to put the order in. By that time we finished the escargot and tried the frog legs but were not a fan of them. I hate to leave food but also could not finish it. Since we were planning to head out, we asked the waiter to cancel the fries and burrata since we knew it was not put in until recently and he got really mad and proceeded to talk in French about us to the staff and how wastful we were about the frog legs. He also mumbled a few times as he passed us fast and giving us a hard look. My friend who understands French translated what he was saying. He ended up sending someone else over to give us our check and close out and we told him about our experience and that we understood everything being said by our waiter who we were told is named Nicola. The air conditioning felt nice. They had different lunch specials to choose from along with their standard menu. I was there with 2 other people and we were all very pleased with our meal.
