Unfortunately, our first visit to Frix's Fire Grill will also be our last. One star is too generous. We went for dinner on a Thursday evening, and the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. Ambiance was ok. There appeared to be only one server working, which we understood, but what was frustrating was how noticeably inconsistent the service was. From the beginning, it felt like other tables were receiving far more attention than ours. Getting something as simple as a refill required asking multiple times, and when I asked for another soda water, I was brought regular water instead. The appetizers were okay, but unfortunately the entrées were disappointing. My French dip was extremely overdone, with meat that was chewy and unappetizing. My husband ordered the fish tacos, which were also clearly overcooked. The $9 flatbread was surprisingly small and felt more like an appetizer-sized portion. What really made the experience disappointing was the combination of mediocre food and inattentive service. Even with relatively few tables, we spent far too much of the meal trying to get basic things we had already requested. We really wanted to enjoy trying somewhere new, but we left disappointed in both the food and, especially, the service. In fact, we ended up stopping at Chick-fil-A afterward because dinner had been that unsatisfying. When Chick-fil-A becomes the second stop after going out to dinner, I think that pretty much sums up the experience. Unfortunately, we won't be back. read more

They have a great variety of "chef-style" food that is prepared very well, and you can tell that care is put into their work. The grilled pound cake being grilled was so unique and delicious, the pineapple tasted canned, but all in all it was decent. We didn't realize how close to closing time they were when we came in and only realized when we left - I point this out because the servers seemed to rush, be annoyed, and weren't calm/cool/collected, but I get it. They have a spacious seating area with tables as well as seating at the bar. They had a live guitarist playing which was nice and added to the ambiance. The food portions were pretty amazing based on the price paid. I had the sirloin with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The steak had a great grill flavor, but was lacking in seasoning.
