I popped into Frisson early Saturday morning for a quick pastry/coffee pickup before heading over to a conference at the Marriott Marquis. The barista was super friendly and very quick. I had the raspberry scone with a double-shot latte, which were both delightful. The scone was slightly warm when I received it, which was really nice considering how chilly it was that morning! If I'm in the area again, I wouldn't object to spending some more time in Frisson - there's not a lot of seating available, but enough to settle down for a nice coffee break. read more

Was in NY for 9 days last year. My lodging was around the corner and found Frisson on Yelp. It's a funky little espresso heaven! We had decided one of the things we really wanted to do in New York is try all the different coffee places that we could. Frisson was not on our list...but it was in our path. Thank goodness, it was. We went in two separate times during our nine-day stay for excellent cappuccinos. We had just recently become coffee snobs before we went on our trip. (There was a secret surgery involved with incantations). So we just didn't want to settle for just any old coffee. It didn't matter if we had to trek out of our way to get the good stuff. Frisson was the good stuff. Great service. And maybe we lucked out because the place was a perfect rest stop on our walking tours. read more

3.5 stars if I'm being honest, but I'll round up. This cafe is super close to Port Authority and Times Square, but far enough from both to not have to worry about all the hustle and bustle of the NYC crowds. It's tiny, but they have plenty of seating for what it's worth without feeling overcrowded. The artwork is really cool, and the staff is personable and quick with orders. I ordered a latte with almond milk. It didn't taste any different than other lattes I've tried and the latte art I got definitely wasn't as Yelp-worthy as other pictures I've seen on this page (not that the latte art was a major issue). I paid $4.50 for a small plus an extra 50 cents for almond milk, which is pretty standard for a smaller cafe in the city but still a bit high for my taste. The rest of the menu was limited. They offer fairly standard coffee drinks and limited baked good/pastry options. No bathroom either. I'm glad I gave this place a chance after reading so many positive reviews, but I'll probably go elsewhere next time I'm looking for a cafe in the area. read more

Cozy little cafe whose stark white walls are warmed with wooden counters, floors, stools. A clothing boutique in the space's previous incarnation, now a cafe serving good coffee on a quieter street in the theater district. So it's a fabulous pre-show pre-dinner (they close at 6) rendezvous point, and a delicious, down-to-earth respite from the soul-suck that is the hustle and bustle of Times Square. Drip is Guatemala, espresso is Ethiopian/Brazilian, roasted by Dallis Bros (LIC). Pastries which they happily offer to heat for you are from Bien Cuit (Brooklyn). A small mini fridge stocks non-coffee options like San Pellegrino, Zico coconut water, etc. It can probably seat 10-15 at most. Free wifi, but no outlets. And NO BATHROOM. Not your ideal camp out all day "office." There were just 4 people here (excluding the two baristas who are the co-owners/founders) on a Saturday afternoon. Frisson Cafe opened two weeks ago. It is Tulian's first cafe venture, after his years of technical experience repairing espresso machines! And Robert, who owned a bodega before, totally nailed my latte, art and all, on his first day pulling shots & pouring. These are friendly guys, passionate about their new craft, and I fully support this small biz! read more

The coffee shop is fairly cozy, fitting maybe 15 people. The table are small so it's hard to do two laptops a table. There is free WiFi. Cute little space with VERY strong coffee (yay!). I came on a Monday around late afternoon with my trusty laptop in tow to get some work done. Upon entry I noticed in dismay that there was only one available spot -- not surprising since the cafe itself is tiny. I sat by the window and ordered a latte to stay which came in a huge mug with an extra shot included to balance out the ratio of milk. And BOY was that coffee strong!! I'm usually a heavy coffee drinker but that latte kept me awake and focused for the next 5 hours. It was around $6. Once people started clearing out I scouted out the cafe for outlets and hint (they're under the long table by the wall!). With my laptop charged and latte in hand, I was able to get tons of work done. The crowd ranges from friends catching up, to people studying, to people just running in and out for a cup of coffee. Definitely a great spot to work as long as it's not TOO crowded. read more

Hidden amongst the busy streets of Broadway New York, lies this trendy neat coffee cafe. Albeit there is not much standing nor seating space, they serve high quality proper coffee which is freshly ground. I had a short macchiato, it was very fragrant with slight notes of bitterness and the milk was foamy and firm. It was very good, so I ordered another one straight away.
