Quaint place decked with art and modest vibes near Times Square! I ducked in here last minute as I was waiting for a friend. I ordered a beet latte customized with soy milk and was pleasantly surprised by the earthy sweet taste. Service was quick and friendly. Aside from their oh-so-delicious coffee drinks, Frisson on 44th offers breakfast sandwiches if you're hungry. Try their BEC (bacon, egg, and cheese sammich), it comes with a croissant-like[1] bread that is so buttery good. Billie and team rock! Thanks to the team for somehow remembering me. This place is adorable! I was in desperate need of a pick me up coffee in the Hell's Kitchen area, and I stumbled into this cafe. It's very cozy, and has cool options like açaí bowls, breakfast options, customizable smoothies, and of course coffee and matcha. I ordered the cortado for $4.50. The barista put a little heart on the top which I found endearing. Savon, the coffee artist, turned our lattes and cortados into foam masterpieces -- the kind you almost feel bad drinking... almost. And the BEC? HUGE. Delicious. Totally shareable. Wonderful service in a cozy little nook of a coffee shop. I loved the attention to detail on each cup made. My fiance told the barista that we wanted it to go since he's always so practical and thinks we might not finish the drinks, but the barista noted that I was taking photos and switched the last two drinks to dine in. He crafted a beautiful piece of work on my matcha latte and did the same for my future father-in-law's latte. The matcha flavor was strong and wasn't overwhelmed with the milk. The staff, the product... beyond. I am happy to share this little gem on West 44th Street in Hell's Kitchen. Every staff member makes a mean coffee and smoothie. Check out the chaga chai and Spicy Mango smoothie which is topped with Tajin. I am fond of the entire team. Special shout out to Briana, not only is she very kind, her knowledge of coffee and her product is very impressive. A true professional and rock star. Shout out to your leadership as well. Came here after visiting one of the other locations (since I had a great hot chocolate and this location was a bit closer). Service was nice and quick, but the hot chocolate tasted like something I would get from a cocoa packet. However, the inside of the store is super cool with a bunch of art and is just a general vibe. We stopped by for morning coffees recently, and were pretty disappointed. I got a cortado, and the coffee tasted extremely burnt. It had no flavor but an overwhelming burnt, dark bitter taste. It was also overly foamy, which caused the texture to be somewhat ruined. We also got a iced latte with vanilla syrup, and it had a similar burnt taste. It was certainly hidden a bit more behind the syrup and higher milk content, but definitely still took away from the drink. Overall, wouldn't come back for the coffee; there are better options around! I'm sure they do other things well though! read more

Have you tried Japanese iced coffee before? We hadn't before passing by Frisson and we were very curious! Their Japanese iced coffee is made by brewing hot coffee directly over ice to flash chill while producing a crisp and bright taste. What we got: - Japanese iced coffee Final Thoughts: I don't typically drink my coffee black, but even without milk or any additional sweetener this cup wasn't bitter at all. Two brothers run via family and I highly recommend going here when you visit New York. I could definitely taste both the lychee and the raspberry well. And THE CRUST!! That was amazing. We also tried the strawberry matcha latte, but unfortunately that was way too sweet for me. The strawberry also dominated the matcha so it tasted more like strawberry milk :( We came on a Friday evening, and it was really difficult to find a seat so we ended up standing around to eat everything. This place is so popular! I want to come back to try all the other desserts especially the cream puffs and pastries!

I always get almond croissants from coffee shops but wow this one has to be one of my favorites. The crunchy (sugar?) top coating and the filling were delectable. I got one of the seasonal spring drinks, called "Karl" which is a banana cold brew with cold foam. I don't even like cold brews since they tend to be super strong and pretty bitter, and banana can be a hit or miss, but I enjoyed the hell out of this drink. It was a bit sweet, which I like, and the cold brew itself had a banana flavor when I had just expected it to come from the cold foam. I didn't sit or stay inside as I had to go to work, but there are a few (maybe 5 I think?) chairs along a bar counter on the side. Plants in the window too which I love. The barista was nice and made the drinks quickly despite being there by herself early in the morning (or at least I didn't see another employee). I recommended this place to my coworkers and can't wait to go back and try the other drink options!

The 2 Everything pastries were filled with what looked like spinach and cheese. Incredible when reheated, but I wish they were served warm. The cinnamon roll was good, but not standout. The pain au chocolat was tender and flaky. Some of the seasonal drinks, like the Grinch, looked really good and I'd come back to try one, but I likely wouldn't swing for a pastry this time.
