I went up to the front to order, and was immediately helped by someone working. I had some questions about the pastries which they answered and then I placed my order. I got my cookie immediately (Nutella filled chocolate chip) and it took a few minutes for my pastrino to be prepped. The pastrino was delicious, generous with the smoked salmon and all the fillings. Vanilla Gorilla Cafe was very good overall. The coffee hit the spot -- I ordered the vanilla latte with oat milk and my husband got an Americano, and we both enjoyed them. We also both ordered the Breakfast Pastrino, which is a croissant wrap with eggs and bacon. So good. We love croissants, and turning one into a breakfast wrap? Yes, please. It was tasty enough that we came back two mornings in a row. The inside is pretty sterile and minimal, except for a fun gorilla cartoon on a couple of the walls, which adds a little personality. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the service on our second visit. I asked if they could just do eggs without the sandwich, and the guy behind the counter was pretty rude about it. I discovered this shop while waiting for our omakase to start next door. It was a surprise so didn't wanna just hop right in. We were feeling tired so decided to grab a coffee around 4pm. He loves iced coffee, I like hot. So we got one of each and sat down. They have some table and chairs, so if you wanted to eat lunch or quick bite here it's very convenient. The environment at the time was relaxed and chill, no on rushing us. Service was quick and impromptu. I dropped by here for coffee one day before catching my train. When I saw the Hot Honey Iced Latte on the menu, I decided I had to try it. Based on the menu, it was the most unique drink to me and although I knew it could go any direction in terms of how much I enjoyed it... I was willing to take the risk. Ultimately, it's pretty mild in terms of how much hot honey is added so not to worry if the concern is spice. It also wasn't too sweet! However, the latte itself tasted kind of watery to me and overall not the most flavorful. Even if it had been a regular latte, I don't know that it would have been one I 100% enjoyed. But it did the trick and I drank about half of it before I realized it I wasn't completely enjoying it. We came here before a show to get some caffeine fix: +a Mocha Choca Caramel Latte - the house's signature espresso with milk chocolate cocoa, caramel drizzle, and steamed milk layers +a Chai Latte - with oat milk +and, an Iced Peach Tea Unfortunately, the drinks were pretty terrible - the lattes tasted like steamed milk, but you couldn't taste anything else; the peach tea was one of the worst, as something was wrong with the green tea that was mixed in, or the water wasn't filtered correctly? The staff were very sweet and kind; they are able to replace/remake your drinks, but even our replacements were awful... I woke up at 4:00am to catch a metro train, to an Amtrak train, to see my friend on his wedding day in NYC. Needless to say, caffeine was needed as soon as I got into the city. Vanilla Gorilla was on my way to our meeting spot so I ran in, and had my oat milk latte in had less than two minutes later. I wish I'd tried one of the hot honey lattes but I was too tired to think to deviate from my usual order. I appreciated their speed and the latte was smooth. 10/10 would return. read more

Out of the two, the breakfast pastrino was my favorite, though I do wish it had a bit more egg/Bacon inside. I really enjoyed the wrap, which is slightly sweet and a bit flaky. When it arrived, the bag came neatly packaged with their logo on the front. There was no spillage inside (which I appreciate). The coffee itself wasn't my favorite. There wasn't enough of the vanilla flavoring and it wasn't as potent as I wanted it to be. Now the croissant, was just as described, buttery, not too flakey, and not hard at all. The portion wasn't disappointing as well. I finished it very quickly and I could honestly say I would've had another one! The latte was very good, although the hazelnut and honey flavors were subtle. As someone with a major sweet tooth who likes their lattes on the sweetest end of the flavor spectrum, I might try one of their other flavors next time. The Pastrino was delicious and filling. The ingredients were fresh, and the croissant wrap had a light but chewy texture with a crispy outside. The flavor and texture were both excellent. I couldn't resist also getting a S'mores Cookie from the bakery case, and it was as delicious as it looked. Soft and chewy with a great S'mores flavor. I have come here so many times; this cafe has great coffee, food, and plenty of seating. The staff is always kind and patient despite the frequent crowds. I love working from here as the their wifi is free and fast. It gets a bit noisy inside, but if you don't mind, it's a great spot to work from. Their pastrino's are delicious and super filling! My friend who is from the Bronx, told me that this place tops, Starbucks in a heartbeat. I go in, and the whole cafe is a vibe. The sweets displayed and from what I saw online made my jaw dropped. Too bad, I had ate, and wasnt that hungry for sweets. They also have delicious bites and offer breakfast items too. They are located a block away from the train station.
