Vanilla Gorilla Cafe was very good overall. The coffee hit the spot -- I ordered the vanilla latte with oat milk and my husband got an Americano, and we both enjoyed them. We also both ordered the Breakfast Pastrino, which is a croissant wrap with eggs and bacon. So good. We love croissants, and turning one into a breakfast wrap? Yes, please. It was tasty enough that we came back two mornings in a row. The inside is pretty sterile and minimal, except for a fun gorilla cartoon on a couple of the walls, which adds a little personality. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the service on our second visit. I asked if they could just do eggs without the sandwich, and the guy behind the counter was pretty rude about it. That was disappointing. That said, the coffee and food are genuinely very good, and if you're looking for a quick, satisfying breakfast in NYC, this is a solid place to go. read more

I discovered this shop while waiting for our omakase to start next door. It was a surprise so didn't wanna just hop right in. We were feeling tired so decided to grab a coffee around 4pm. He loves iced coffee, I like hot. So we got one of each and sat down. They have some table and chairs, so if you wanted to eat lunch or quick bite here it's very convenient. The environment at the time was relaxed and chill, no on rushing us. Service was quick and impromptu. It's been a minute so I don't remember the exact drinks, very likely a mocha or honey vanilla, but omg it was good! We both were very surprised and want to try their food and coffee again whenever we are in the city! I guess we are fans now! read more

I dropped by here for coffee one day before catching my train. When I saw the Hot Honey Iced Latte on the menu, I decided I had to try it. Based on the menu, it was the most unique drink to me and although I knew it could go any direction in terms of how much I enjoyed it... I was willing to take the risk. Ultimately, it's pretty mild in terms of how much hot honey is added so not to worry if the concern is spice. It also wasn't too sweet! However, the latte itself tasted kind of watery to me and overall not the most flavorful. Even if it had been a regular latte, I don't know that it would have been one I 100% enjoyed. But it did the trick and I drank about half of it before I realized it I wasn't completely enjoying it. However, service was great so I'd be down to return and try something else on the menu in the future. read more

About a 1-1.5: Vanilla Gorilla Cafe is considered an artisan coffee shop - their menu offers hot and iced beverages, sandwiches, and bakery items. We came here before a show to get some caffeine fix: +a Mocha Choca Caramel Latte - the house's signature espresso with milk chocolate cocoa, caramel drizzle, and steamed milk layers +a Chai Latte - with oat milk +and, an Iced Peach Tea Unfortunately, the drinks were pretty terrible - the lattes tasted like steamed milk, but you couldn't taste anything else; the peach tea was one of the worst, as something was wrong with the green tea that was mixed in, or the water wasn't filtered correctly? The staff were very sweet and kind; they are able to replace/remake your drinks, but even our replacements were awful... There is a good number of seating, and it was a nice little quiet spot in the middle of Times Square/Theater District. Restrooms require a code. +awful drinks +friendly service read more

I woke up at 4:00am to catch a metro train, to an Amtrak train, to see my friend on his wedding day in NYC. Needless to say, caffeine was needed as soon as I got into the city. Vanilla Gorilla was on my way to our meeting spot so I ran in, and had my oat milk latte in had less than two minutes later. I wish I'd tried one of the hot honey lattes but I was too tired to think to deviate from my usual order. I appreciated their speed and the latte was smooth. 10/10 would return. read more

Not a bad cafe, tons of space to study/work. They charge 3% extra for using a credit card, if I knew, I'd pay cash; I had cash on me. Service was not bad and order comes out fairly quick. A bit expensive, I got a small latte and a sandwich, was $19 bucks. read more

Stopped by for a delicious brunch before sightseeing in the area. We ordered a smoked salmon pastrino and the breakfast pastrino. Out of the two, the breakfast pastrino was my favorite, though I do wish it had a bit more egg/Bacon inside. I really enjoyed the wrap, which is slightly sweet and a bit flaky. Larger interior than most cafes with plenty of seating. Service was friendly as well and food came out fresh but quickly. Would recommend! read more

5/5: Perfect coffee pick me up after minimal sleep and a flight into New York. My friend and I randomly found Vanilla Gorilla Cafe after searching for a coffee spot near our hotel. It isn't far from Times Square. The coffee was excellent, and the staff were friendly. Prices were on par for NYC. The cafe itself was bustling with some of the tables filled with people catching up or working on their laptops. I'd come back again and try some of the food. Vanilla Gorilla Cafe seems to pride itself on using top notch ingredients. read more

The coffee was great, too. The cafe was located conveniently near our hotel--the Hilton in Times Square. For about $40, we got coffee and breakfast for two. This place had me in a chokehold I live in the Bay Area North California and I was visiting New York and I will go to this café every day while I was out there the customer service is phenomenal. The food is good the pastries the sandwiches the coffee is Matcha I mean, whatever you wanna get get it You will not be disappointed. I wish they had vanilla gorilla out here. Came across this spot while looking for a quick bite before starting my day. Walked in to a clean and well decorated place. Arrived a little before 1pm on a Thursday and they were limited on seats so we opt for take out. Ordered the Reuben Pastrino and give it a 4.5/5 because I'm a saucy person and wish it had more sauce. Was looking for breakfast while at work and stumbled across here. I ordered a Small Iced Vanilla Latte with oat milk and a Butter Croissant via Uber Eats. The total on Uber Eats was $17.93. When it arrived, the bag came neatly packaged with their logo on the front. There was no spillage inside (which I appreciate). The coffee itself wasn't my favorite. There wasn't enough of the vanilla flavoring and it wasn't as potent as I wanted it to be. Now the croissant, was just as described, buttery, not too flakey, and not hard at all. The portion wasn't disappointing as well. I finished it very quickly and I could honestly say I would've had another one! Overall, I feel like I personally won't order coffee here again, but I would look at their baked goods. read more

I was in NYC for a day trip and wanted to grab a quick lunch on my way from the train station to the theater where I was catching a matinee. Vanilla Gorilla ended up being the perfect choice! I arrived around noon on a weekday and there was plenty of seating available. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered a Iced Hazel-Nut'n Honey Latte and Chicken Club Pastrino. The latte was very good, although the hazelnut and honey flavors were subtle. As someone with a major sweet tooth who likes their lattes on the sweetest end of the flavor spectrum, I might try one of their other flavors next time. The Pastrino was delicious and filling. The ingredients were fresh, and the croissant wrap had a light but chewy texture with a crispy outside. The flavor and texture were both excellent. I couldn't resist also getting a S'mores Cookie from the bakery case, and it was as delicious as it looked. Soft and chewy with a great S'mores flavor. Overall, the meal was a great value for the quality and portion size. The dining room was clean and comfortable, and they had free wi-fi. I'll be back again the next time I'm in the area! read more

Loved this place when I was there! Their online menu has great pictures for everything and makes every item look really intriguing. They had a good amount of tables and seats and it wasn't busy on a Sunday morning which I was appreciative of. I ordered the smoked salmon sandwich and the iced vanilla latte. Loved the sandwich! It was delicious and I liked the ratio of fillings to bread. The iced vanilla latte was delish too and wasn't overly sweet but felt refreshing which is kinda surprising for a coffee drink! Their pastrinos, which I believe is their specialty item, looked really good but I was going for something a little lighter on the stomach at this time so I hope to try one of those in the future. The couple of orders I've had from here have already made me a regular to the point that I ordered something 3 days in a row. The croissant breakfast wrap is excellent. It's something different from other breakfast wraps at most cafes and really stood out to me. I have come here so many times; this cafe has great coffee, food, and plenty of seating. The staff is always kind and patient despite the frequent crowds. I love working from here as the their wifi is free and fast. It gets a bit noisy inside, but if you don't mind, it's a great spot to work from. Their pastrino's are delicious and super filling! I love the breakfast pastrino. The smoked salmon sandwich is also delicious. Everything is always fresh. A gem! read more

If you want totally completely flavorless coffee, lack of thoughtful ambiance with bad acoustics so your ears hurt while you try to enjoy your coffee, and you feel like your order is taken and served by robots -- then come here! I'm going to throw my coffee away and go find a better spot. I generously gave two stars because they at least got my latte order correct. read more

Overall 3/5 stars! I had the Iced Matcha Latte with Oatmilk and put a splash of honey in mine. I am a HUGE matcha girl, so I definitely enjoyed my drink, however the oatmilk this time around definitely overpowered the Matcha :( so I definitely wish it had more of a matcha taste to it, but it was still good! Im kinda sad as Im writing this review, that there are NO Vanilla Gorilla Cafes near the D.M.V. I was determined to get Starbucks before heading to the museums. My friend who is from the Bronx, told me that this place tops, Starbucks in a heartbeat. I go in, and the whole cafe is a vibe. The sweets displayed and from what I saw online made my jaw dropped. Too bad, I had ate, and wasnt that hungry for sweets. They also have delicious bites and offer breakfast items too. They are located a block away from the train station. My drink was an iced vanilla latte, and im forever hooked. there coffee is 10x than SB. This will be my first pit stop when I arrive in NYC from now on. Service is great. Fast friendly service. Plenty of space to meet friends, or just to chill. Please expand to Maryland :) read more

I'd brave the annoying time square crowd over and over again for this!!! Stumbled upon this place cause it was a short walk from our hotel. Ate here three times for bfast on our 5day NYC trip cause everything was hella bomb. The pastrino was to die for. Its been months after I had it and I still, to this day, remember how good it was. Another thing i liked is how friendly the baristas are,. Its hard to score a table during bfast/brunch but if you do, sit down and enjoy that pastrino! It's not the first time here and definitely not the last time, I love the spicy honey coffee that you can't find or copy somewhere else. The food is super fresh and gets served right away. Always clean and welcoming and its nice just to sit and see people that comes to sit over and work. They have a section with couches and section for big tables that you can share or just a small one to sit by your own. It was worth the flight to New York just for that! read more

Vanilla Gorilla is a decent option for a quick (relatively) healthy option, although not too reasonable with pricing. The food is OK but a chicken, mozzarella wrap with a basic drink just should not be $20 (which it was with tax and modest tip). I'm sorry but the pics of the food totally do not resemble what you get!! The mouth watering descriptions set you up for disappointment. I guess it's hard to get too enthused about a wrap. I also deducted one star because the server (for no reason) hurriedly me along from putting in my mail to get the rewards because as I was finishing, he assumed I didn't know what I was doing g (even tho I was just gonna hit enter): the coffee was also substandard. Pretty good cafe to do work! Free wifi and decent amount of tables (there is one medium sized table for like a party of ~4 so you can do work with your friends!). I sat on the couch area with my friend and it was really comfy and not as loud. Food is a little pricey but it was yummy! Our drinks came out fast and I enjoyed my iced Americano. A decent place for a carry out breakfast or lunch and coffee in Hell's Kitchen. The "pastrino" is the thing here, food-wise. The gimmick is that it's a wrap made from croissant dough. It's tasty, and the fillings are quality, but croissants should be flaky. These are not. It feels like a huge waste of all that butter and calories just to end up with what's basically a tender-but-dense and fatty tortilla. read more

The regular and matcha have both been good in my experience. I don't like chocolate cake, so I haven't tried that variety. I wish the pumpkin was available in the smaller size too! I've tried their boba, and it isn't good. The hot teas are okay but not great. They're pretty much just syrup and milk. I would avoid the drinks and just get the desserts! I haven't personally tried the bingsoo, but I've heard good things. The waffle is alright--all in all, come here to recharge and for the basque cheesecake!

I get my custom half matcha, half strawberry order, and the staff is always so accommodating about it. Everyone is genuinely so sweet, Mika is incredible. The matcha is a 10/10. So good. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.

They're a little pricey, but each donut is a pretty hefty ring of chewy glutinous rice flour batter. I had them the following morning, and the donuts still tasted fresh. There was a little bit of oiliness from the frying, but it did not taste off or too greasy. I think this is from the meticulous frying process and good management of the oil. I got the Cookies and Cream, Rose, Lavender, and Pistachios. I loved the Rose and Lavender flavors, especially the lavender which had a solid floral flavor without being perfume-y. I look forward to trying other donuts and sweets from Bear Donut in the future!

The rice cake was good, but the sporks they give you are completely useless against the rice cakes. The mango cake was about the blandest cake I've ever had in my life. One good thing is that, at least on the upper level, they do not rush you out whatsoever. You can literally stay for as long as you want.

It's super easy to join via their app, and you earn 1 point per $1 spent toward free pastries, drinks, cake slices, and more and i even got a free pastry just for signing up. The strawberry croissant had fresh strawberries and cream and it was the perfect breakfast after a run in Central Park.
