OMW to Pilates, feeling tired already, a rusty sign caught my eye. I popped by after class and although the line was long it moved fast. The barista was so pleasant even though I had a question or two; they have no sugar-free syrups but they do have skim milk. They also have fresh vegan cookies and packaged vegan pastries. Although they do have a little bar to sit at against the window, it's tiny so I am pretty sure it is unusual to get a spot. The coffee was great!!! Decided to try some new coffee place on my way to work and was hesitant to order when I seen the line and such a small crowded space but I decided to try it since I had a couple of minutes to spare. By far better than Starbucks and Dunkins hence I literally go looking for Birch wherever I am. It comes close to Gregory's and La Colombe. Birch Coffee East 62 Street is a location I thought I visited with my Yelp children. I know I enjoy Birch Coffee and they have unusual delicious pastries. I'm here today for the Everything Scone. As soon as I approached the front I realized I had never been here before. The seating outside was limited to a bench where two people were already seated. Everyone waits outside until there's room to go in. It's very limited space inside. I just wanted the Everything Scone I saw on the Birch business page. When I went in and saw they had plenty of them I got in line. The line moves quickly because they have a couple people working behind the counter. I was shocked when he said the scone was $4.90. I guess that includes tax. I grabbed my bag and decided I would hightail it home for lunch. All the way home I was mad at myself for spending that much on a tiny scone. Those sentiments didn't last when I ate it! This Everything Scone was a fresh delicious biscuit textured scone. The darned thing needs to be twice the size! I definitely could have eaten two with no problem. That would be almost $10. I could have a whole meal for that price. I'm very sad to say I have to be in a rare mood to buy a Birch scone again for that price. I guess the food is how they make their money. Or by the looks of their full pastry case maybe it's not selling! Other than the price and seating, both of which are important to me, this is a good Birch for grab and go. I do prefer the bigger Birch location uptown on the West Side at 95th Street. I doubt very seriously if I will return to this location. read more

I made it my mission to find decent coffee places around the city. Starbucks is great, but finding gems like this that brew their own blend of coffee is incomparable. For starters, this is the CUTEST little shop! Baristas were extremely friendly and were excited to hear it was my first visit. I decided to go with the cold brew and man was it delicious! I could taste the freshness (for all my coffee drinkers you know what I means). I was a little bummed they didn't have almond milk because I generally don't drink cream, however I was pleasantly surprised to find out they had Oatly milk! Coffee was good but I had to write about a weird experience I had when ordering. At coffee shops I normally order a 16 ounce hot latte with four shots of espresso. So I ordered exactly that, but then was told that if I wanted a 16 ounce hot coffee that I would have to be charged for two small coffees even though they have two different sizes on the menu, they don't specify what they are but they have cups out to show you the different sizes. so it's a little misleading. I couldn't stomach the thought of buying one coffee for the price of two so I just ordered something different. Maybe something they could do is just change their menu to offer all three sizes for the cups they display. read more

Small coffee shop off of Lexington Avenue that's never too crowded in the morning. Have been here a few times to try out their drink and food options before heading to work in the area. Most recently ordered the Iced Redeye ($5) and an Everything Scone ($?). As is much of their coffee selections, the beans are strong and full of flavor. Solid with a bit of milk and simple syrup provided to the side. The everything scone is palm sized and topped with all the trimmings of an everything bagel. Fine flavor but overall dry - best while drinking the coffee simultaneously. The prepackaged raspberry bar is a solid choice if not wanting the baked goods.
