Alyssa at the salon is amazing. I am pretty sure everyone else is amazing as well however I only have experience with her. She was very kind and accommodating. She listen to my needs. The only thing is that I have asthma. When I arrived to my appointment she had just finished with a smoke break. But when I explained to her that I'm very sensitive to smoke, it's not her fault, she freshened up. I felt really bad, but she made me feel very comfortable. She did such an amazing job on my hair. I left her a really good tip. Even so I wish I had given her an even bigger tip. So make sure to bring enough cash so you can thank her as generously as you can for a job well done.She cut my hair perfectly and she styled it perfectly as well. I went there to get my eyebrows waxed. When I made my appointment over the phone the lady was nice and even though their website says eyebrow waxing costs $15, she said it would be eighteen bucks. I appreciate that she said it but it would have been good that price changes were reflected on their website as well. Anyway, Susan did my brows and followed my preferences, was pretty quick, which I like, and she is a nice lady too. After seeing the results, next time I may give her a couple of extra guidelines about the shape I like for my brows, but I really think she is a keeper since she listens. Front desk girl is super nice, I kind of was a pain to her with the phone, since I had forgotten mine. I like this place: nice unpretentious people, nicely decorated and clean. I simply love the way Aaron cuts my hair. I've looked forever for a stylist who responds to my "Oh, you know... just make it look really good" with some suggestions, gentle advice, good recommendations, and exactly what I didn't know I wanted. My hair always looks best right after being cut (a hairstylist does the best work, after all) but I can get really close at home with very little work. He's professional and has the right demeanor- no heavy product pressure, but recommendations when I want them; convivial but not shallow; smart but not pretentious. Go see him. From my first appointment with Sara @ Fringe, my worries were over. My experience was great from the moment I walked in the door. The receptionist is an absolute sweetheart, and Sara had great suggestions to change up my current style. I had been wanting to try out getting a full brazilian for a little while now, so when the youswoop deal came out a few weeks ago I couldn't resist! Let me start off by saying that this was my very first waxing experience...err..down there. Parking is a little difficult around the salon, but its to be expected in that area. the salon itself was really cute and clean, and very nicely spread out. the waxing rooms are near the back of the salon, in its own private area with its own waiting room. I was a little nervous, but Susan was super friendly and made me instantly feel comfortable. She left the room and had me undress from the waist down and gave me a sheet to drape over myself. spreading eagle was no big deal at all, Susan makes you feel really comfortable and it wasn't awkward at all! She was really good at distracting me and keeping me engaged in conversation as she went about her business. I do have to say that it HURTS LIKE A MOTHER your first time. I think the hard wax does help a lot though, and again- this was my very first time so those hairs were apparently in there good. The worst of it is the top section by your pubic bone, the sides and back side were a BREEZE. After the first couple of pulls you honestly become kind of numb anyways so it stops hurting, but those first initial pulls hurt pretty good. It was all soooo worth it though and I already booked my second follow up appointment with Susan (25% off in you book right away at the end of your first visit!). All in all, the waxing did hurt, but don't let that scare you away...the results were awesome, the salon was perfectly clean, and Susan was a doll!! read more

I went to Fringe for a keratin straightening treatment last weekend and I have been extremely happy with the result. Hair-wise, it's pretty much life changing. The price was very reasonable as far as keratins go. I was pretty nervous about doing it for some reason, but Keith did an awesome job - he was extremely patient and thorough and really took his time to make sure that every step was done perfectly. This is the first review I've ever written for any salon because it's the best experience I've had. I've had short hair for the last 4 years and have been wanting to grow it out but never can because it's always cut so the the layers grow out funky. I made an appointment with Adam Moss and he knew exactly what my hair was doing. He worked his magic, now I can let my hair air dry and be happy without even straightening it. Before I stumbled upon Fringe, I was paying close to $200 for cut and color with my old stylist. At one point I broke down and said to myself, "That's enough. I can't afford this head of hair anymore." In my search for an affordable, yet trendy salon, I found Fringe. Considering I'd never been there before, I told the kind receptionist I'd work with whomever. Lo and behold, she paired me with Christina, an absolutely amazing stylist, colorist, listener, you name it. At my first appointment I planned to cut off 12 inches of hair, which in and of itself made me nervous. Christina took the time to make sure I was completely sure about the 'big chop'. We discussed in detail the look I was going for, and she delivered 200%. In the past, when I chopped off long locks of hair, for a day or two after I tended to regret the decision - at least until I became more used to the shorter length. I'm happy to report, almost four months later, not one day have I regretted the big chop. Christina gave my hair an amazing, chic, easily manageable do, one I've had no reason to regret! Not only that, the color turned out amazingly and seemed to last longer than most of my previous coloring jobs. Alright, so if you haven't been to Fringe yet you have to go and see SARAH!. She's full of knowledge and techniques to help you pick a style that is flattering and manageable. She really took the time to listen to my needs and gave advice on how to style and maintain my look at home. She even gave me neat tricks to blow dry my bangs so they look perfect everyday! Long (and I mean LOOOONG) hair ladies rejoice! My hair is down to my waist, and you might not believe it, but it is very difficult to find someone who can cut it properly. It's not as simple as "cut evenly along the bottom". I'd just about resigned myself to going to Milwaukee for a haircut when I saw a an article in ChicagoMag that mentioned Fringe (and a couple of other salons). I'll admit, I called trying to book an appointment with Christina, but I took an opening with Patrick. I have ZERO interest in switching either salons or stylists. In three visits we've stopped all of the splitting and fraying caused by years of neglect, and my hair looks amazing. I didn't even realize it was time for my last appointment because I didn't *have* split ends. Plus I always leave the salon looking (and feeling) like a model with the best blown-out hair on Milwaukee Street. Patrick himself is a blast, someone who feels like a friend on your very first visit. My only complaint? I can't afford a blowout every week. read more

She turned it into a really sophisticated platinum cut and I left feeling like a million bucks. I've had two haircuts here by different stylist not using a Groupon and disappointed by both. They book their appointments too close together and their stylist always seem like they are in a rush. They cut hair super fast and never ask if you like it. The first time I thought it was a fluke but the second time the same thing happened. It's annoying because the location is great and super convenient for me. Overall I would never go back to them because their cuts aren't great and their stylist always seem like they need to get customers in and out. read more

I've had long hair just about all my life, so when I decided to get 10 inches cut off, I was pretty nervous. I've never had a regular salon I loved, and I wanted to find a reputable salon for such an undertaking. I chose Fringe, based on positive reviews, and I feel so incredibly lucky to have had Wintre as my stylist. As Samantha noted, Wintre took great care, both during the initial consult, and throughout, to give me a cut I would be happy with. We discussed my lifestyle, and my need to keep my hair out of my face at work, and she made sure to let this happen. She actually talked me out of going too short in some areas, cautioning me to take such a drastic change a little slower. I'm happy she did that, because it turned out beautifully. She (along with the other stylists) was almost as excited as I was to be making this big change, and they were extra helpful with preserving my locks for donation. So, lost as I was a year ago to this fabulous new city of mine, I was wondering and wandering the streets trying to find a lowly scissor wizzard to lop my locks. After blocks and blocks, I finally wandered into Fringe and asked for a cut. Alas! they were booked. I turned to go, but No! This man's 3:30 flaked, He could take me right then! Back i was swept, into the mirror Sanjoy and I looked. He told me exactly what I wanted to hear. Away to the sinks he sent me and the most fabulous washing I got. Then back to the chair. "coffe, water, tea?" "tea please, orange spice." Then he came in. swooping and slicing with the shears. He had been doing this for 25 years! I started to get suspicious. I realized I was in quazi wicker park, I realized I was drinking tea whilst getting my hair cut. I realized that my stylist was a seasoned veteran. This was going to be expensive... Off to the cash register I went. Sure enough, twice as much as any hair cut I've ever had! ( which might not say much, but ) I felt duped. Duped. Then the next day arived and the compliments came. next week the same. next month the same. I never had a bad hair day. Never a day that just couldn't happen because of the cluster on my head. I had a great experience at Fringe yesterday. I found the front desk to be very friendly and my stylist, Tammy, to be incredibly knowledgeable and professional. I came in with long, brown hair in desperate need of attention (I am a natural blonde and was ready to go back!) and left with a super cute haircut complete with full blonde highlights. Adorable! I am always nervous about trying a new salon (mainly because I have spent most of my life getting my hair cut by the same person), but Tammy made me feel at ease and was a great conversationalist. She spent around 15-20 minutes with me at the beginning of the appointment trying to pinpoint exactly what kind of look I was going for - she offered advice, but I also felt like she really listened to what I want. She didn't try to persuade me into doing something I wasn't comfortable with. She also brought out a color book so that we could look at hair swatches together and really decide exactly what I wanted to do before starting. I also felt like the price was right and that she really went above and beyond to make sure I was 100% satisfied. Snuck in here and was fortunate to snag a cancellation spot for a haircut and blow out with Stephanie. Aside from her charismatic personality, she knows her stuff when it comes to hair. She did exactly what I asked, was not pushy at all, and gave me gorgeous locks. The prices are really reasonable and cuts include blow outs. While waiting for my friend to have her hair done, Ronnie gave me a manicure which was magnificent. Not only are they clean and hygienic, but they have a fantastic selection of nail products and I was introduced to Vinylux which is now my new love. This is a review for my esthetician, Cali. I have been going to Cali for close to 10 years - first just for waxing, but for the past 3 years have also been seeing her for chemical peels. She is amazing. I have never gotten more compliments on my skin, and am often mistaken for 5-8 years younger than I am. Cali is very professional and friendly, as is the front desk staff. I've been seeing Christina for over a year now. Almost every time, I come in, not quite sure what I want. Sometimes I just ask for a trim, but a lot of times I'm looking for a slight change just for something a bit new. She makes some suggestions, and I usually go along with it, and it always turns out looking awesome! I just got my hair done by Amber and she is just flippin fantastic. As many girls who go jet black can probably attest, it's not as easy as it looks and most colorists get it wrong... black splotches everywhere, not a good look. I've had my hair botched at some of the most expensive salons in the city (got to the point I started just doing it myself) so believe you me, when I say she's the real deal she is the real. Deal. I travel to Chicago quite often for work and found myself needing a cut and color. Based on a friend's advise, I decided to see Adam at Fringe. He was fantastic. He is very personable and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. My hair has never looked better. Being an un-natural red head, it has been difficult to find someone who can acheive a color/highlight scheme to my liking, but Adam knew exactly what I was going for and gave it to me. Came here for the first time a few days ago for a Mani/Pedi special I purchased off of Gilt City. Being it was my first time to the salon I arrived a few minutes early to park and get situated. When I arrive they tell me to have a seat and it will be just a few minutes. 30 minutes later they are finally ready for me. While the polish job itself was pretty good, I won't be returning due having to wait 30 minutes for an appointment I had confirmed.
