Unfortunately overpriced and overhyped in my opinion. Way too saucy and oily in general and they didn't have certain dishes we were excited for.

BBH soup

Nice place with a variety of seating options, including outside. The service was nice and unobtrusive for a long lunch with a friend I hadn't seen in decades. Very interesting menu with things I had not seen before. I ordered the BBH (Big Beautiful Heart) soup. I think it was a bit too oily and would have preferred rice noodles to the thick noodles presented which I'm guessing were wheat based. But the beef in it was pretty good and I am glad I tried something new.

Came on a Friday night and immediately got a table. Bo Luc lac was tender & flavorful and so was the other dish. Vegan wings are super shareable, worth a try but wouldn't get it again. Food came out quick and fast! Drinks were good too.

Decent meal. Place is located on NW Thurman. Lots of parking. Next to the old dragon tree location. Went for the chili crab which I saw on Instagram. Food was all fine. Asian salad had a nice dressing and super crispy tofu. Crab was ok. Wish they precut the crab or provided scissors or picks. Haianese chicken was ok. Chicken was moist - flavor so so.

The food was super delicious, a bit pricier than other places, but you get quality here. I ordered the chicken rice dish, which is similar to Nongs. The chicken came with bones in and cooked to perfection. The dipping sauce might be one of the cleanest umami flavors I've tasted. There was a cup of soup served with this dish, and the broth was good, but dare I say it, too flavorful. I would recommend if you're not on a budget. Oh, also, the service was spectacular.

Shaken Beef & Lychee Daiquiri

Great spot! Got to enjoy a lovely dinner on their front patio, drinks were refreshing, I tried out the lychee daiquiri and it did not disappoint! Service was attentive and friendly. Got to see some cute pups walking as well as dining at the table next to us. I ordered the shaken beef and it was very tender and full of flavor. Can't wait to come back or try out their other locations in NE & new partnership with Stem Wine bar on Mississippi!

Mama's Laksa cari

It's a super cute little restaurant. The inside is nice and bright. The weather was nice on the day we went and so we sat outside which alright, a bit simple but covered. The food, however, was anything but simple. Both dishes were seasoned beautifully! I loved the spice in the Mama's Laksa cari and the red wine was so rich and inviting in the Northern Pho pho sot vang. Can't wait ti try more of their menu.

Great ambiance and service. Food came out quickly and was so delicious. The flavors of the pho were on point!

Okay so I am obsessed with everything these women do, Allouette was a beautiful place to dine and FK2 is an incredible next chapter. FK2 brings everything great about Friendship Kitchen into a space with indoor seating and a classed up vibe. The signature dishes here are wonderful - Order the Laksa if you want to go on a flavor journey. I love Laksa and theirs may be the best I've had. They also have some great choices to spoil yourself with, like the curry crab dish. My partner and I got this last time we went to celebrate our anniversary and we were in seafood HEAVEN. This location is still a work in progress, in the best of ways. We can count on them to continue innovating with the menu to figure out what works best and I am so excited to see what they have in store. My only complaint is that FK2 is further from me than the original lol. Well worth the drive. P.S. is anything cuter than the name? It is like a movie sequel, and I just freaking love it.

Pho

I visited Friendship Kitchen recently. I came for pho in particular. Service was good. I had the same experience as David P. There was flies that I was swatting away as I was eating dinner. The pho was good but it wasn't the best broth that I've had. It also was low on noodles. I probably won't visit again.

I don't even know where to start on how amazing this place is! Some really unique flavors and dishes (at least unique for me) but all so delicious without being too over the top. Great gluten and dairy free selections. I loved this space when it was Alouette and it still holds its original charm. Service Food Atmosphere

This place was so cozy and yummy They do not have inside seating so plan to come on a nice day or they have some covers shaded parts that you can easily hide under and they have some string heaters ! Bring some card games to hang out eat and just vibe

We shared the cream cheese wontons, coconut curry with chicken spice level 2(which comes with rice), and the luc lac. Everything was deliciousss! The chicken in the curry broke apart so easily and the curry itself was very flavorful. Spice level 2 was perfect for a little kick, but not too much. The meat on the luc lac has a nice char on it and a sauce that is almost sweet. Service is quick and the vibe inside is very trendy with colorful decor and lights. Great for a night out. They took our drinks order and handed the drinks while we were in the line. Once we got to the register, we put in our food order and paid. The restaurant was semi self served. We got to our table few minutes after ordering. Guests also had the option to order to go and dine in the tent tables outside. The interior of the place was so stunning. There were dragon on walls, umbrellas in the ceiling, a huge full service bar. Our dishes came out within few minutes. We got the chicken skewers, chicken pho, chicken luc lac and steak rolls. We liked the small plate dishes, but the entree ones were disappointing. The chickens were chunky and dry, bland flavor. As much as we loved the vibe of the place, we didn't enjoy the food as much. The staff members were very joyful and friendly. They were explaining the process to every guest and keeping everyone informed on waiting time. During dining, they were also available to help.

There's lots of seating and we came at a Thursday for lunch and it wasn't too packed. I had the Vietnamese Coffee flight to try out all the different ones, and the Ube cafe sua da was by far the best. I had the Vietnamese sizzling plate with baguettes and it was very good. The flavor is a little bit on the stronger side, but that's what I like so it was perfect for me and the portion was surprisingly enough even though it looked a little small coming out. It wasn't too busy, and we had a big party; really appreciated that they gave the celebrants complimentary desserts, which was a nice touch. The pandan rice cake with ube ice cream was a my favorite. We called earlier and they got reservations available to be made. The pho was perfect for the chilly weather. The broth was strong and flavorful, and the chicken was cooked well. My friend got the noodles with crispy chicken and mushrooms, and those were phenomenal. The Vietnamese platter would honestly make a perfect date-night meal. This has great variety and fun to share. The fries and wings were flavorful appetizers and a great way to start the meal. Service was great overall, but a bit hands-off after the food was served. I don't remember anyone checking back in on us. Nothing was wrong with the food, but it would've been nice to have that quick follow-up. Would definitely come back, especially to check out their brunch next time.

The beef pho broth however was much less intense and complex than I prefer (Pho Van) so somewhat disappointing but a great fill with aok broth on a cold day. Had to ask for Cilantro on side which was missing from bean sprout basil lime side plate that waiter brought promptly but said it was added to broth..hmm ok Hubby got the Seafood Basil Stir Fry $18 requesting no added sugar to kill the heavy hand in the sugar bowl that tends to creep in, and it was better as the sweet soy still is still used. Downtown Portland's hidden gem for authentic Vietnamese!…read more I was walking around downtown Portland and stumbled upon Cuốn Vietnamese Street Food, and honestly, it was the best meal of my week . If you are looking for fresh, flavorful, and satisfying comfort food, do not walk--run to this spot. To get the full experience, we ordered a variety, and every single item was a hit. We started with the Beef Pho, and the broth was the absolute star. It was rich, aromatic, and deeply savory, clearly simmered for hours. It was the perfect dish on a sunny Portland day. We also grabbed a Chicken Banh Mi. The bread had that perfect crispy crust with a soft, airy crumb, and the chicken was grilled to perfection with fresh veggies and herbs. Of course, we had to wash it all down with a creamy, sweet Thai Tea--it was delicious and the perfect end to the meal. Beyond the food, the vibe is great. It's a super clean, casual spot with big windows letting in lots of natural light. It's set up for quick counter service, which makes it perfect for a fast lunch downtown, but the staff is so friendly and welcoming that you feel right at home. It's a family-run business, and you can taste the passion in the food. Highlights: · The Pho Broth: Seriously some of the best in the city. · The Banh Mi: Fresh bread, great fillings. · The Service: Fast, efficient, and incredibly kind. Pro Tip: Don't forget to grab your own utensils and sauces (the chili crisp is a must for the pho), and help yourself to the free self-serve hot tea. It's the little touches like that which make this place a winner. I am already planning my next trip back to try the Crispy Pork Belly. Highly recommend

Positives: fresh, well made, very flavorful proteins. Cons:…read morePrice I tried Cuon for the first time and enjoyed it. I went for a Vermicelli bowl where you get to pick 2 proteins. I selected Pork Belly (their specialty) and lemongrass chicken. The bowl itself is standard Vietnamese fare, nothing special, creative or exciting in that sense. That said, the ingredients tasted fresh and the proteins were very well seasoned and cooked. The pork belly skin had an awesome crunch and you can clearly taste the lemongrass in the chicken. The included spring roll had nice crunch but little flavor. Unfortunately, outside of Pho, Banh Mi and Noodle Bowls, there's sadly not much else to the menu. No Vietnamese salads, stir frys, etc. Either way, what they do make, they seem to make quite well. So, on to my main issue ie, that for a place thats only open for lunch, the prices are a bit too high. I noted about $16 for a Banh Mi sandwich, no sides. Pho was around $20 and my noodle bowl was about $20 as well. Weirdly, its about the same prices as eating lunch back home in Miami, a FAR more expensive city in general. In fact, I've often had more exciting Vietnamese in Manhattan for lower prices. So while its easy to recommend Cuon on quality, its not a top recommendation for lunch value in the PDX which is why Im docking 1 star.
