Brought my son here to eat since they were never here. My youngest had Mac n cheese, it was Kraft obviously. But it was dry and hard crunchy. I didn't let him eat it. I had chicken, it wasn't cooked all the way, immediately I started sweating and getting stomach pains after 3 bites. I had to bring my son to the bathroom while I shit my brains out, for uncooked chicken. And there was so much water on my plate from the damn chicken. Your cook should be FIRED! Ambiance: how about your turn the damn ac on, I shouldn't be glistening from sweat while sitting in your restaurant. When asked about it, they were not concerned. waitress finally came over after I flagged her down. Then she was arguing that it wasn't their fault. Manager came over and was snotty. Franchise chain known to the Northeast with standard American staples: burgers, fries, salads, pastas, chicken, meats and is kid friendly. I ordered a turkey club $8.29 while my friends had the BLT, BB American and we all detox with water. Service is attentive and friendly. I opt out of taking my many leftovers as the wine was overpowering over my appetite and bodily functions. If I were sober and lived nearby within Pennsylvania borders I would surely order my favorite Friendly's dessert- watermelon roll! read more

Stopped at this location today to have a Reese's sundae and reminisce about my childhood. Granted I haven't had one of these for at least 5 years, I remember them being topped with a good amount of pnb and hot fudge. This sundae was lacking and left much to be desired! It was three big scoops of vanilla, which face it, is just ok. There was a small drizzle of toppings, which was not worth $7. My partner did not even receive the correct ice cream flavors and also had a sundae lacking toppings. I don't think I would return, ever. read more

Friendly's in general fall into that restaurant category we all have called "It is what it is". Meaning of course that you know it's never going to wow you and sometimes it even disappoints beyond belief but the price is not too bad and the menu is diverse enough to please everyone. The prices at Friendly's are on the higher side but they also have a rather large amount of coupons available through various avenues so if you're paying full price then either you're an idiot or you're just not trying too hard. The service during our visit this week was fine. Drink refills were offered without asking and dirty/empty plates were removed equally fast. The food was a bit slow to come out but there's really no fault on anyone as the place was mobbed. Menu wise the food is mostly a nutritional wasteland of crap but if you dig there are a few things you can get that won't close your arteries instantly. As mentioned by other reviewers ice cream here is supposed to be the star of the show but two things worth noting: 1. The prices for the ice cream ala carte are steep. If they are doing some sort of a deal where a sundae is included you should jump on it because it's worth it. 2. If you order some of their "lesser" flavors expect to taste the yumminess called freezer burn because some of the flavors simply do not move. Past that this is a solid three star place to go when you have people who want a bunch of different things or on a night when you don't care what your food tastes like as long as it's edible. read more

This has long been a favorite place of mine. However tonight the situation proves that changes need to happen to this chain soon or it just needs to close. 1. When we arrived 2 guests were waiting to be seated. One party was at the take out counter. The server walked by and made no attempt to greet or seat anyone. I asked the manager at the take out counter if someone would be seating people soon. 2. While waiting to be seated I saw the guy at the grill eating while cooking. Health code violation all over!! 3. One of us ordered coffee and it was brought out when we were nearly done with our dessert. 4. I ordered a large sundae and was served a medium. They made the correction on the bill and also took off the coffee charge. They need to retrain staff and maintain adequate staffing on Saturday nights. Stopped in with the family or end of summer dinner. With school starting the next day my daughter wanted to go to Friendly's for dinner and ice cream. To start off social distancing strictly enforced. The wait staff wore masks. The staff was very nice and pleasant to deal with. I found the tomato basil soup on the salty side. Friendlys used to be my favorite go to place for ice cream. We haven't been here for years so decided to check it out. When we arrived there were several people waiting. We had to wait a good 20 minutes to place our order. I ordered a Reese's peices sundae with extra peanut butter. The young boy at the counter was really struggling to get our order correct. We ordered two waters and the young man said "oh, I rang them in as soda's. we asked if he charged us, and he said yes, but I already swiped your card" He never offered to reimburse us or void out the sale. Since I already watched this young man struggle to place this order, I couldn't bear to watch him struggle with voiding my sale and starting over! The water cost me $5.50. Urgh! After another 25 minutes our order was finally complete. Our sundaes had very little toppings and no peanut butter. So much for the extra peanut butter I paid for! The ice cream was ok, had a couple of ice chunks in it ( I hate that) that I had to spit out. The others in my party said there toppings were at the bottom of their sundae. Well if that's the case they should be called bottoms not toppings. This was not a very good experience. I don't think I need to ever return! Plus the ice cream was not cheap. read more

I posted the picture of the onion rings I was served a few weeks ago in the photos. I went w my husband and my son and it was terrible. The service was okay but the food was awful. My husband's Ruben was grilled on one side and barely on the other and there was no 1000 island dressing. The sauce on the buffalo chkn was terrible, my onion rings were BURNT, and the quesadillas were not like I remember them. To celebrate, I let my son chose anywhere to eat dinner tonight. Sadly, he chose Friendly's. Sadder still, I drove to the closest one. The only thing worse than the waitress asking for your order before you even sit down and remove your coat, is her not returning until after those seated after you have their food. The only thing worse than getting an order wrong, is bringing cold food to the table for everyone else whose order was originally correct. The only thing worse than having to ask for a box twice and the check well after being finished, is having to share the half empty bottle of water from your purse because no refills are making it to your table. The only thing worse than having to sit in an uncomfortable booth with a rambunctious kid in the booth behind you, is having to sit there for nearly 2 hours ... waiting ... and waiting ... and waiting for your food. The only thing worse than watching a table seated after you finish and leave, is watching the next family finish and leave first as well. The only thing worse than the cashier offering only a meek apology as you pay, is paying after a family who were appeased with a 15% discount for the same exact complaints. The only thing worse than suffering through a meal at the Friendly's on Hamilton Blvd, is knowing you could have driven just a few miles further to the Friendly's on Cedar Crest Blvd and enjoyed your evening. I've never written a review before about anything, but i thought this customer service experience was worth sharing. Waited 20 minutes at the counter. Several staff walked by. No one said hi, or I'll be right with you. Finally gave up and left. I know people get busy, but at least say hi, or I'm busy but I'll be right with you as soon as I can, rather than walk past me several times without looking up. Placed a simple order (6:10pm) 1-Kids grilled cheese/side of apple sauce 1- Rueben (with cheddar) 1- Patty Melt (medium rare) Still waiting...6:25p....Still waiting 6:35p.... Food arrived. 6:36p Ice cold. The manager said their grilled grille was behind. That's a lame excuse for cold food. The waitress (part bull) was to blame for not getting it out when it was hot. The manager paid for our meal but I wouldn't recommend going back. Service wasn't great (didn't know what type of milk they had available or the types of cheese). We were given a different waitress because the older waitress who's area we were sitting in didn't want to serve us. We are a gay couple with my 10yr. Knew that Friendlys had been going downhill for years, but this visit made it easy to write them off. Took 3 of our grandkids for an end of summer lunch. First off, I want to commend our server and the "few, very few" others who were working there. The place was crowded even well after lunch. Seated fast, then....waiting....our nice server McKenzie gave us the first of her about 6 or 7 apologies for the long waits and poor quality of food. Should have walked out, but hey, time with grandkids is still worthwhile, so we waited. I know you get what you pay for, and what do you expect, etc., but come on! A chain known to the North East. The food is sub-par and not many healthy items offered. But one usually goes there for the tasty ice cream desserts after wards, as they are the main draw. They do have a window in the front area, where you can order ice cream items to go. Just in case you don't have plans to dine there. The service is always good.
