Normally get good service but the kid that takes care of us wasn't in there tonight. We came in at 9:30 went to the ice cream bar that they have and we were ignored for a few minutes. Another guy walked in and was helped instantly, he was rang up, got his take-out order and walked out. There was multiple employees at the door and no one acknowledged us. I am only giving 1 star because every time I go into this particular friendly's I feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. the staff will talk badly about you and not even ask if you need anything because you are young and they probably think you won't tip great. Came here tonight with my 2 nieces. Place was 75% empty and yet we sat there for 20 minutes and nobody even came to take our drink order! People sat after we did and were served. The foods are all right, but the services are slow. Kind of disappointed about that. The day I went was Sunday for lunch. There were not too many customers, but still the waitresses seemed not ready to work, and the kitchen took longer time serving the food. In my opinion Friendly's used to be better. I went there recently as my family and I were craving food and went to the nearest place. I got a crispy chicken sandwich with fries, and a raspberry iced tea. The iced tea did not taste like raspberry at all.. in fact it just tasted horrible. Secondly, my chicken sandwich was cooked weird and not how it usually is, it was rubbery and hard to bite through. Gross. It also had really no flavor. While waiting forever to ask a waiter for ranch since no one came back to check on us, I couldn't even eat my fries in the mean time because they also had no flavor. The service was horrible. Like I said no one came back to check on us and it wasn't even that busy. I actually had to go up to the counter and ask for ranch which I would never usually do. 'I'm gettin' back in shape, been walkin' once a week!' Would you expect anything less from such a new Friendly's? This, at least for the time being, is the place to be in the 'hood, so get there soon and return often. During my 2:30pm Friday trip, I discovered a jam-packed lot and a line out the door, like Shake Shack was in town dishing out goods indefinitely. Local foodies converged on the semi-fast food & ice cream chain like vultures on a carcass, lauding the signature exterior design & tacky interior (lack of) decor. To this new establishment's credit, there is plentiful parking; only in Shirley will you find people double-parked rather than walking a few extra feet. I gotta give it to them, the awkwardly communal al fresco bench area is pretty sweet for enjoying some cold treats with friends, though only in Shirley would all of them have McD's and not the offerings of the property on which they consumed it. Kudos to the management for keeping the place in tip-top shape for the few weeks it's been open, even if the Grand Opening sign was lapping in the wind and the string whipping takeous customers. The carryout window, however, is an ill-planned hybrid of warm-weather-only takeout combined with hobbit-esque windows. This far from facilitates effective communication with the Friendly enough staff, many of whom still haven't really been sufficiently trained, but I'd honestly be upset if they had been. I strolled up to the carryout cove with a BOGO 3-scoop sundae coupon ($5.20 total), whipped around in a veritable vortex of wind and expletives from the always-charming locals. The awe-struck masses helped me bear the 15-minute wait for my admittedly intricate sundae and the mothership's tried-and-true classic creation. The former, maple syrup/maple walnut/butter crunch topped with chips ahoy chunks aka frozen choc chips & vanilla pound cake pieces, was alright, at best; certainly not what I hoped for. The latter, black rasp/vienna mocha chunk/nuts over caramel with oreos & hot fudge, pleased on all subtle cylinders in its satisfying way. Aside from the borderline atrocious wait for ice cream and the folks who ordered 10 minutes after me leaving before I did, a pretty endearing experience in a multitude of inoffensive ways. For now, they're handling the hysteria fairly well, so here's to hoping it doesn't downward spiral to what I showed up expecting. Stop in for some solid social commentary, not-as-big-as-they-used-to-be sundaes, and a real scene. I'm genuinely shocked it took Friendly's so long to get here...in areas like the Mastics/Shirley where the first places to be erected are usually precisely the last things residents need. read more

I would not recommend eating at this Friendly's. I got food poisoning from eating here. I had Water, coffee, a grill cheese sandwich with fries and an ice cream Sunday with mocha chuck ice cream with fudge and whipped cream! Okay, it's the first time i ordered through Doordash for a friendly's (Shirley) Recee's Peanut Butter Sundae which i wanted very badly...I thought everything was going good with the ordered until about 10 minutes later i checked the app to see it was canceled...So, I called Friendly's to see why my ordered was canceled and they had no clue what i was talking about how they never received my order so @ this point i wanted my Recee's Peanut Butter sundae and was told that (Friendly's) had nothing to do with the cancellation that i had to contact doordash so that is what i did which i was told by doordash that Friendlys wasnt accepting orders at this time...So, I asked then why is a customer able to order through doordash if they're not partners with that specific restaurant...They couldnt answer that....So, im leaving this review cause i believe the service is very unprofessional...It wasnt about getting my money back it was the fact that i wanted my order....I think i will not ne using doordash anytime in the future....If, you want your order i believe the best & only way to receive it is pick it up yourself...I wish i could of gave 0 stars... read more

I was in your Shirley store a few weeks ago ,and felt I should drop a positive comment ,I witnessed 4 young male workers come out of the kitchen they proceeded to gather together for a moment ,shake hands ,and high five each other. They were white and afro American and this was quite refreshing to see ,especially in these troubled times ,then a female worker enters the building and one of the same young men greets her with a hug,I wish more places of business were like this ,keep up the good work and management and district managers take note this is what we need more teamwork and morale read more

Service is awful. Every time I've been here I've waited at least 30 minutes for a waiter or waitress to even come to my table.

This location is usually decent. But overall there is little value to Friendly's anymore. Portions are getting smaller as prices get higher. I would rather visit a diner or AppleBee's type of place where the value is better. Hard to justify to go back. Out last visit was not a good one. Much of the food was cold. BLT was skimpy and fries were cold. Kids food was the same. Not fair for the prices that are being charged. read more

To start, we got a delivery from Friendlys. We spent $100 and we expected for the food to be warm and good. It was very cold. They forgot some of our food. They didn't give us straws for our drinks. The food was soggy. To add, they just threw all of the food into a paper bag. The delivery guy called when he got to our location. He asked us to come outside and get it. HE DIDNT EVEN BRING IT TO US and we gave him a very generous tip. Don't ever get food delivered from here unless if you want soggy and cold food and drinks without straws :) read more

went to friendlys for my birthday, last week for breakfast,and was disappointed to find out that they don't honor the half off breakfast deal that's advertised all over the internet,even on there own site.the server told us that reason that they don't honor it ,is because its a corporate thing,what ever that means.thats probably why the place only had 3 customers.oh well. read more

On one occasion, their was a long brown HAIR in my sandwich, that same night their was 2 HAIRS in my coleslaw, and 3 HAIRS in my French fries. And 3 days ago their was 2 HAIRS in my sisters sundae, and 3 HAIRS in my friends sundae. And I herd from the manager that they ARE NOT REQUIRED TO WEAR HAIRNETS BUT ONLY HATS, not covering HAIR ON THE CHEIFS HEADS!!! This was completely and underlying disgusting. Never going here again. Food is pretty good. But i would like to focus on their customer service since most of the users are focused on their food. I don't eat bacon but I got myself a bbq chicken sandwich which comes with bacon. It looks amazing So i ordered it but told them not to add the bacon in it. For appetizer I ordered waffle fries with cheese. But that also comes with bacon and I had no idea. The waitress who took my order came right back from the kitchen to let me know waffle fries has bacon in it and asked if she should add bacon in my waffle fries. Of course I said no and got something else instead. But what she did meant a lot to me. It shows that she knows her customers and respect their choices. I have been to other restaurants and sometime they would add bacon even I told them not to or they would give me bacon but lie about it. I was really pleased and ate my food without any hesitation and felt safe. Thanks to that women again! read more

unbelieveable ..worst ever..first delivery they forgot 2 orders of fries with the meals....gave them another chance tonight, and ordered 3 sundaes and a half gallon of ice cream..said 45 minutes ..ok gave them an hour and a half..so i called young girl on the phone says oh there was an accident on montauk highway everything has gone out...doesnt ask the address to confirm just says everything has gone out..wait another hour. ok so now 2 hours and 30 minutes..i call back said the address its 2hours 30 minutes whats going on.. the a*****e on the phone says "you placed an order for delivery? The ice cream is great, but the service is always very slow. A quick bite and dessert takes over an hour.

First off, this Friendly's by far is the best Friendly's I've ever been to. The staff is SO nice, SO accommodating, it is so child friendly (perfect for my 3 year old), and the place is SO clean! I couldn't get over all of that! :) And then on top of it, the service is EXCELLENT! Again, the staff are AMAZING! Such nice people, and very caring. My son & I both ordered chicken fingers & fries, and my Mother ordered a side of fries, which all were cold when they came out, unlike the rest of the other hot delicious food. I did't make a fuss at all because I'm always afraid to send my food back, and for my son it was okay because he is 3 and like his food not too hot, so I figured I'd just take it to go and heat it & eat it when I got home. Our super kind & sweet server Renee came to check on us and observed we weren't eating those items, and she asked why and was so kind and offered to have the kitchen make us fresh ones, but we told her thank you, but it wasn't necessary. The manager, Mike, then came over and was so so so nice & apologized & insisted on making it right. He remade those cold items and gave it to us to go since we didn't have time to eat it there, and was so apologetic & sympathetic and attentive; everything a manager should be! I have been telling everyone how great the staff is and how great this Friendly's is. You guys have a great business there, and it's definitely because of that staff.
