It's been awhile since I've been at this friendly restaurant. When walking in we were acknowledged by a couple of different people and one came over right away to seat us. My Mom hadn't been here in a while either. They have some great specials we decided on the one that comes with a Happy Ending. My Mom had the BLT with tomato soup, I had a toasted cheese with Clam Chowder. When ordering I asked how much extra for the soup, she said a small upcharge. To me a small upcharge is maybe $1-$2 well it was $ 3.99 for one $2.99 which to me seems like we paid for a cup. So because we didn't get fries a small upcharge ended up costing us almost $8 more for lunch! They do have a 1/2 sandwich with soup for $9.99 that's what we almost got and decided against it because the waitress told us there was a small upcharge. The waitress did check on us a few times , handed us a check for someone else then came back and apologized. I have to say we both really enjoyed the sandwiches and the soup. The clam chowder had a bit more potatoes than I like I just picked them out. My mom enjoyed the tomato soup. And I thought the Clam Chowder was very good. And we both got a Happy Ending, which was choice of ice cream and a topping with whipped cream and a cherry. Of course you can't go wrong with friendlys ice cream.

When here today with a friend, I've been here before, but today was really nice. Hardly anyone was here. Our waitress was totally awesome. Had a hamburger without the bun side of fries and a soda and ice cream sundae with chocolate sauce. I usually don't eat this much, but totally enjoyed it for the day being with my friend.

Nostalgia bought us here and great service and food had us returning 3 more times in a little more than 24 hours! This location has a cute outdated feel to it, but in a great way. It was still very clean. The waitresses we had all were absolutely amazing. They were knowledgeable of their menu and were great with our kids. Our kids want to come back to Melbourne just to go to this restaurant. It is officially their favorite. The food is what you expect and perfectly cooked every time (we should know, we went four times lol). The ice cream is also just as good as we remembered! It was such an amazing feeling and moment watching our kids fall in love with a restaurant that we also loved growing up. 100% would we be back if we could! Thank you to the staff that made what started as a not so special vacation so very special for my kids. We will always be appreciative of it!

If I did not have a little one with me who insisted on having a monster Sunday, I would have walked out five minutes into our 14 minute wait at the podium for someone to seat us. I have never heard "someone will be right here to seat you "so many times before. The waitress did come over to take our drink order almost immediately and they were brought right out. We decided not to have lunch since our wait was so long to be seated. I could only imagine how long it would take to get a meal. I almost didn't order anything because my favorite sundae the Reese's peanut butter cup was not on the menu , thankfully I did ask the waitress and they do make it still! Our ice cream was bought out promptly, however there were no napkins on the table, nor did our waitress give us any. Small children need napkins when they eat ice cream I couldn't find our waitress. She never came back to check on us. The people at the the table next to us were looking as well as their children needed napkins. The grandmother from that group went to the bathroom and brought everybody back paper towels from the bathroom. They do provide children with a kids pack that has a color changing spoon in it to go with the ice cream, which was nice.

Receipt

Food was fine, service was fine. Until they rip you off on the receipt. Tip price recommendations are over 10% different than what they should be. Absolutely shady. Just based on that we won't go back.

The place is really nice. Lots of great decor, and a live stream of Key West on a TV screen that we sat near. Food was absolutely delicious. I got the Guava Jerk Sirloin. It was cooked beautifully. The sauce was absolutely delicious. The mashed potatoes were loaded and massive, and the broccoli tasted great. Couldn't finish it, so took it home! I also got the Cafe con Leche, and it was wonderful. Would come here again!

Very personable and right there seeing if you needed anything. Really, the entire staff were really nice. The place is very clean and nice furnished. Now to the food. I had an octopus/yuca hash. I love grilled octopus so when it's on the menu, I'm getting it. This was great. The entire dish was delicious. The hash part was so flavorful. The yuca was perfect. Not mushy, not hard. The octopus was a little chewy, but the flavor from the preparation and grilling made it YUMMERs!! My wife had the Mojo pork grilled cheese. She loved it. And she must have. She never offered me a taste. She kept it to herself. LOL. Again, a sold 4-star for food. See you all next time. Thanks.

Our server Cassie was a perfect balance of attention and space. We ordered entrees only. Country fried steak was well done and the white gravy complimented the breading well. Portion of the sides weren't huge but perfect size. Fried Shrimp plate was a good portion and the shrimp were crispy. Added a side salad for 99 cents. Good ranch dressing. The grilled white fish was also very good and was prepared blackened. Flaky moist portion and the fries were delicious too. Chicken tender salad was bright and fresh. A large portion too with half being taken home for lunch the next day. Saved the worst for last and it was flavorful but could have been a tad crispier. The Monte Cristo sandwich. The berry spread was really good. As I said not sure why the low average. It is quality comfort food with large portions and the staff has always been on point. While the restaurant was clean you can tell that Cheddars is on the way out. I do not recommend.

I've never been to this restaurant before at this specific location, but I can see why everyone picked it As is to be expected different people arrived at different times, but we were all able to sit comfortably in a group and the weight staff accommodated our amount of guests by exhibiting adaptability and patience I personally enjoyed a classic cheeseburger with a double patty and a side of steamed vegetables. Not only is this place military friendly but the quality and quantity of food I got at that price point doesn't feel like it can be beat. I will say that I glanced over at the Pizookie which looks fantastic and saw a drink with a duck in it that is going to ensure the next time I come by I try it as well Sharon was our waitress and she did a fantastic job making sure everyone's order was on point and circling back often not only to check on our food but to refresh our drinks accordingly. Another thing I liked was that people's orders were brought out virtually close to one another despite being ordered a different times. We had a fantastic time. The place was super clean. There was plenty of parking and easy to find all in all the experience merits every last one of its five star ratings.

We tried the same location a second time and same horrific service. When we moved to Florida my grandfather and I ate at one in Jacksonville and it was ok. Recently my wife and I visited the location in Melbourne, Fl. The parking lot was full and so was the building. We were seated in 10 minutes. Our server Keith took our order and was knowledgeable on the menu. However our experience went downhill from there. My wife ordered soup and salad and got it in 5 minutes. I ordered hamburger and had to watch my wife eat her food. It took another 20 minutes for my burger. My wife's soup was lukewarm at best and we had to ask for a fork for her salad. There was not silverware on the table when we arrived and Keith never once offered us any. I had to use my wife's napkin. When we asked for our tab. Keith asked us to fill out a survey. Truthfully he would not want me to review his service. I will say the food for the most part was good but BJ's and Keith struck out big time when it came to basic customer service. After multiple negative experiences at more than one BJ's we have decided this is it. We are done and will never visit BJ's again anywhere

El Chico Mexican Restaurant 1751 Evans Rd., Melbourne, FL 32904…read more 3 Stars (chain restaurant review) With origins dating back to a Texas county fair in 1926, El Chico Mexican Restaurant has been around for quite a while. In 1926, Alelaida "Mama" Cuellar's tamales were a massive hit at the county fair. Two years later, they opened their first restaurant in Kaufman, TX. The 11th opened in Six Flags Over Texas and is credited with introducing Mexican food to the American masses. In 1940, Mama Cuellar's children opened the first El Chico Cafe in Dallas, TX. Susan was my outstanding service professional for the meal. I asked Susan for an order of their Chorizo Tacos, a Grande Pollo Burrito and a side of chips and salsa. Susan brought my order out in no time and after snapping a few pics, I got to work. I always wonder if cooks smell the ingredients before they start using them OR do they smell them, realize they are not so fresh anymore, and think the dining public won't notice? Either way, this cook deserves strong jobation for this dish. The Chorizo meat was not good; it wasn't rancid, but if you opened the walk-in, I wouldn't be surprised if it was seen beating up the tomatoes as it was undoubtedly turning bad. Moving on to the Grande Pollo Burrito - the hero of this meal. Even though the chicken was a tad on the rubbery side (my guess is heated up in the microwave, but I could be wrong), the rice, beans and other fillings were excellent. While a bit chewy, the chicken was fajita-flavored and served with a beautiful chipotle wine sauce. The rice was cooked to perfection and the frijoles rancheros were succulently seasoned. If the chicken hadn't been nuked, it would have been fantastic. This brings me to what passed as chips and salsa in this cuchara grasosa. Please look at that pic and tell me that's not a cup of ketchup with a smattering of spice sprinkled in. It sure as Texas didn't taste like salsa. The chips were OK, but the salsa was not. Big Boy says, " 20 years ago, this was fantastic Tex-Mex. Today? Too much top-notch competition makes this yesterday's chimichangas."
