Friendly's was, for a long time, an American restaurant chain that was a predictable favorite of families with kids, seniors, and everyone in between. Locations were many, and always crowded with folks enjoying meals and ice cream. Many Friendly's have closed over the years, and this location is one of the few left open. Knowing that, you'd expect they'd be doing everything right to keep themselves in business. Sadly, this location is in hospice... it's failing badly, and you know it's just a short matter of time before it's gone. We went in the evening to eat in. The first thing that hits you in the restaurant area is the overwhelming and unpleasant scent of food debris lingering in the carpeted floor. We all had a difficult 24 hours and were travelling. We chose this location because of our hunger and the restaurant's proximity to I-95, so we stuck it out. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. The printed restaurant menu shows a number of appetizers, meals, desserts and beverages. Several menu things we asked for were met with, "We don't have that here." Like Fish & Chips. Every Friendly's has Fish & Chips, but not this one apparently. No Fishamajig sandwich either. Ultimately, we each decided on a meal. The food came out pretty fast. Each meal was correct, but none of the plates looked appetizing or nicely plated. The tuna salad was very dry looking and tasting. The fries were sad and cold. While the food was not spoiled, it certainly wasn't tasty or enjoyable. During our dinner seating around 5 pm, only one other table of diners was in the restaurant. It was virtually empty. We appreciate the server doing her best to work with what was (and wasn't) in the kitchen, but we won't be back to see her at this restaurant because the dining experience was memorable - but not in a good way. read more

A great nostalgic visit on my Grandson's birthday. The crew sang a birthday song to him when bringing out his dessert. It brought me back to when many restaurants did similar things. My wife and I were out & about. We were in such a mood for an ice cream sundae. We decided on Friendly's Restaurant at 1462 E. Lincoln Hwy. in Langhorne, PA. Friendly's always had the best sundaes. We were not disappointed!!!! It came out quickly. Such a great portion. We shared a Sugar Cone Taco Salad (Love the name). Besides ice cream and whipped cream, it had pieces of broken sugar cones, sliced bananas & strawberries. DELICIOUS!!! We were like 2 little kids going at it. Lol. Restaurant was very clean lots of parking in the lot. Our server Ryan, was outstanding!!!! We were greeted immediately by him, as we walked into the door. He seated us wearing a big old smile. He couldn't have been nicer. Treated us like he knew us for years. His service was A+++++++. He was super friendly, quick to get us anything we needed. He made our visit such a wonderful experience. So happy they have dine in now! even though we are still dealing with COVID19. It felt so good to actually eat out somewhere. Came in with a party of 6 and was greeted right at the door by friendly faces (although wearing masks). They had a lot of precautions in place for the virus and had hand sanitizers, and they were doing a thorough cleaning after every table left. The tables were 6 ft apart and there was a limited capacity in the building. Our waitress was wearing a mask, and she was really good. She came over very quickly and took our orders right away. I ended up ordering a munchie mania which is basically an appetizer, I chose the mini beefburger sliders, loaded waffle fries and mini mozzarella sticks to share with my daughter. My daughter got mini double sliders with mac and cheese kids meal. My nephew got the double bacon cheeseburger, and my nephew got the bbq chicken sandwich. Out the door I would like to express that the two ladies working the day we went were very friendly and it is clear that are the ones who keep the place moving. We went in to enjoy only ice cream. The first challenge that we were met was the smell of old ice cream. We were determined to enjoy an old school favorite so we continued to sit down. The ice cream was just as tasty as I recalled as a child. The presentation was standard of an ice cream parlor. The huge sundae is always something to be enjoyed. My only request is to kindly shampoo the carpets, DAILY. There are many children that visit the restaurant and it is understandable that a mess is made but management and/or the franchisee should take note to clean the carpeting or remove it completely. Yes, there is a shortage of staff but the condition of a place of work should be up to standard conditions. If you don't have the staffing, management should tighten their belt and do it themselves. It is also recommended that bottled water be available for anyone who is inclined to have one. Once again the ice cream was great, servers were very nice but the location needs to be cleaned up. It appears they have their daily core patrons and at the very least, a place should be clean and odorless. read more

She asked if we could get ice cream to celebrate, we agreed and thought Friendly's would be the best option. Sadly, we were mistaken. We arrived to a fairly dead restaurant. The staff was just standing around and we asked to be seated. The hostess asked how many, then disappeared. It literally took 10 minutes to be seated. Servers were talking to one another saying she better not seat me, etc. It was quite comical but frustrating at the same time. We stayed because we didn't want to disappoint our little one. East Lincoln Highway, Langhorne, PA, is primarily noted as the location of the Reedman-Toll automobile dealership, the largest car outlet in the country. In its shadow are many smaller businesses, including this Friendly's restaurant. Obviously, it is well known, as when I arrived around 7 pm on a Sunday night, it was more than half full of customers chowing down on the traditional American cuisine and ice cream desserts for which this chain is known. I was guided to a booth along the front wall by the hostess, and handed the laminated multi-paged menu. Their Sriracha Burger sounded interesting, and I went with it, medium. I was assured by my server that I would receive a pink finish from their never frozen ground beef. She was right. Unlike many burger joints that promise the desired degree of grilling, but inevitably deliver only a well done puck, this kitchen did keep its word. I was given a medium burger that was lightly pink throughout. Gratitude. The rest of the accompaniment - pepper jack cheese, bacon, onion straws, lettuce, tomato, sriracha mayo, on brioche bun - were all present and accounted for, although the "crispy" onion was soggy. The overall taste satisfied my burger craving for the week. At ten bucks it was priced beyond its actual value, but it was good to know that Friendly's was keeping up with the burger wars, where every food emporium had to offer a decent six ouncer to stay competitive. It is safe to say that Friendly's keeps up with the other franchise Joneses in this universe. You can come here for a burger or other of their beef and chicken offerings, and leave sated. And, if in the mood, their ice cream makes for a very convenient and creamy end of meal. Looks like Friendly's will be around for a while longer. 3.5 STARS read more

This is not a bad Friendly's, alot of room to move around. the outside slot of private parking. Not far from the Oxford Valley mall. So great after shopping before heading on i95. I had the Buffalo chicken strips with coleslaw and fries. With a Pepsi. Free refills on the drinks. It was good, came out warm. Like how the fries have alittle seasoning to them. My kid had the Macaroni and cheese with hotdog. Perfect for any child. With a apple juice and kids sundae. On Wednesday kids eat for $2.99 with adult meal. Service was great, no complaints in that department. I will be back again. But mabe for breakfast. Does look good. read more

Love their ice cream. We treat the family a few times per year. I decided to try their chicken parm sandwich with crispy chicken and it was delicious! I picked up the order and brought it home and it was still very hot and the cheese was still melty. It was huge, so I should have only eaten half, but it was so good I ate it all. So, although I'd only personally consider the food itself 3/5 stars at best, I do go here often and I'd like to give them a 4/5 overall. The primary reason I come here so often Monday through Friday is because breakfast is 50% off, which makes eating here extremely, extremely affordable. Some of the dishes are hit or miss, but once you find something you like, you'll find that it's so worth it to come here. For instance, the new chicken and waffles dish is absolutely delicious (although I find that getting only one waffle to about 5-6 chicken tenders isn't a good ratio and there needs to be another waffle). It's a solid 4/5. On the other hand, I had the vegetable omelette the other day and it was a 2/5. It was filled to the brim with warm, mushy, gross huge tomato chunks and slices that I had to keep picking out. I don't think I'd get it again. Overall, I'd certainly still recommend this place to most anyone, especially during their discount hours. When you're able to get a full, satisfying meal for about $6 or so for breakfast, there's something amazing about that. read more

I remember coming here on Sundays with my parents and sis. Now I've introduced this place to my kids and they ask to come here whenever we visit PA. I took my family out for desert to celebrate my two year olds birthday. We went for desert because it's hard to keep a two year old still for an entire meal. The Resterant was not crowded at all. We told the hostess desert only in hopes this process would be quick. It took 20 minutes just to order and another 20 to recieve the ice cream. The three stars is actually quite generous, and is earned solely by the waitstaff. Our server was super friendly and helpful, and the waitress was lovely. The rest of it was sort of not good. We walked in on Father's day Sunday, a day you'd think would be packed for any place serving brunch (in fact we ended up here due to the IHOP down the road being packed) and it was all but deserted. I also caught a whiff of a smell I was convinced was cat pee, but I think it was just an old sort of off smell that made my nose think that. At least that's what I'm telling myself. The kids menu was limited -- if you have kids that are allergic to eggs, don't expect to feed them breakfast. Although that's really a hard on anyways, so I don't completely blame them. They had really awesome color changing straws for the kiddos though, so that was cool. The food for the adults was borderline inedible -- the pancakes were so far from the best I've had it was scary. My order came and only the appetizer were there. When I called Friendly's the want nothing to do with helping me. The first girl had major attitude. The second one didn't give a darn about our order.
