Listen- I love Friendly's. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I crave a Barbecue Chicken Supermelt on the daily, obviously followed by a monster mash sundae. That's not the reason this Friendly's gets a five star though. Our waitress was an absolute gem. Besides my table and maybe two others, there was the most atrocious, obnoxious, and downright uncivilized birtbday party I've ever witnessed. Children (old enough to know better) throwing things, crawling on tables, screaming at the tops of their lungs, while the adults acted like they didn't even know them. I was appalled. But, our waitress handled them and the rest of the tables promptly and professionally. I give her all the credit in the world. Stopped by yesterday for lunch. While I have always felt the food quality of Friendly's is like frozen food being reheated, nothing was horrible. Just fried food. The ice cream is awesome as always and they have an extensive menu for both food and ice cream choices. I'd give the food 2.5 stars, but the reason I give this 4 stars is our server. Victoria deserves 5 stars! She's excellent. She ran that Friendly's during a busy lunch doing literally everything except cooking the food. She's certainly an asset to this team. She kept everything clean, got all our orders right without writing it down, and made the ice cream. She's friendly and awesome! I consider Friendly's a part of classic Americana. Believe it or not, the chain of diner-like restaurants is 90 years old! I used to live near a Friendly's but that was when I was a little kid. Since then my visits are infrequent, perhaps once every few years when I was near a Friendly's location. Recently I was nearby in Clark and needed lunch and I was delighted to see a Friendly's across the street. This Friendly's has a very standard appearance looking like a house with a small extension off to the side. The parking lot has plenty of spots and if you're just going for ice cream, you can go to the small ice cream window on the side. I was going to sit inside and eat however so inside I went. The interior looked like what you'd expect. Mostly big booths, rest rooms in the back and the kitchen off to the right. I was seated at a booth by a very friendly waiter. He took my drink order (yay, they have Coke Zero!) and I looked over the menu. There are a lot more items on the menu than I remembered but I wound up getting an order of bone in wings to start and a Tuna Salad SuperMelt. The wings were great. They were very crisp and had a good chew. I was worried that at a chain restaurant like this they would be low quality, but they were good! Not the best wings *ever*, but certainly something I would order again. The Tuna Salad SuperMelt is exactly what you'd expect: tuna salad on toasted bread with cheese served with fries. Now, the best tuna melts I've had in the past were generally at diners like Vicki's in Westfield so this had a high bar to be measured against. That said, it was good! Not the best, but a solid "B+" and I was very happy with it. To treat myself I had a Fribble, their version of a milkshake. It was a pistachio flavor and shockingly instead of just being green with some vague nut-like flavor it actually had a strong pistachio flavor. It was delicious! Service was great. The food did not take long at all to come out (though granted, there were only two other tables being served when I was there) and everyone was friendly (heh). I'm really happy I came across this Friendly's and I'd happily go back to this Friendly's if I was in the area. read more

My local church had a fundraiser at Friendly's in Clark, and although the hours were 12:00-8:00, it seemed about half the church (literally) showed up at 12:00. There were only two servers: Laura and a new hire. Laura scarcely had time to catch her breath, but she took every table's order, made everyone feel welcome, got every order correct, cleared the dirty dishes, took ice cream orders, served those, and when we were ready, delivered our checks. She not only handled our church's crowd, but also several tables of people not from our church. She was like the energizer bunny! Our food and desserts were wonderful, but in all honesty it would have been a nightmare if not for Laura's proficiency. They definitely needed more servers around, but Laura made it work. We hope to have many more fundraisers there, and we will always request that Laura be there to help us. read more

Me and my aunt went to the friendlys in Clark nj where we go when I come to visit and she ordered the burger and fries and she said the burger was over cooked and didn't taste fresh at all. I had the fish and chips and it's was very good. The server was extremely nice and professional. read more

This has become our go-to dinner place right before my oldest son goes back to college, kind of a tradition now. There is something for everyone, and the service is always friendly and peppy. This is not fine dining, but for classics like burgers, dogs, sandwiches and platters it serves up tasty food. The burgers are good and presented well, the fries are always crispy, and the pastrami melt is probably my favorite. I try different things, so I've had the crispy chicken sandwich, the patty melt, the BLT, the Mac n cheese burger, and the turkey club. I was never disappointed in any of them. For me, the portions are just right. I actually don't want a mountain of fries with my meal, but there are enough. For dinner, we are always satisfied, but the ice cream is another step up. There are so many choices of sundaes, with different themes and flavors, and I will always have one even when my diet says I shouldn't. The ice cream is totally worth it, just fantastic. read more

I went inside to use the bathroom, and the color scheme and decor isn't as nice as the Friendly's of my youth. We came with a party of six here, and it was say, halfway packed. We waited for about ten minutes, and then the young gentleman said he didn't want us to wait any longer and sat us down. At two tables. We were sat at a table of four and across from the rest of our party. Kinda made chatting difficult, but I guess I get the idea of wanting to seat us. But then, a table of at least 8 left, allowing ample space to relocate us, especially since we hadn't received food yet. But we weren't, we just stayed separated. The remainder of the service was acceptable, and he was very nice indeed, though he also forgot part of my kiddo's order. I had a serviceable lobster and chicken quesadilla and a very bomb as heck chocolate milkshake, the real reason you come to Friendly's. Classic goodness! Sometimes I crave a good burger and Friendly's does it well. I came here on a weeknight with my little fam of 4 and we were seated right away. Service was excellent with special attention to children (smaller spoons, strawed drinking cups, booster seats and highchairs, crayons/huge coloring sheets, and a kid's menu). Off of their lunch/dinner menu which was full of burgers, wraps, sandwiches, and other options, I had a BACON CHEESEBURGER COMBO (or "CombOH!" here) for $10.99 which came with yummy fries and a small sundae. The burger looked like a burger and tasted like a damn good one! Melted American cheese, fresh lettuce and tomato, applewood-smoked bacon, and mayo on a grilled brioche roll super impressed- YUM!!! After that, I was rather full but when I saw the pictures in their dessert menu, I had goo goo eyes for ice cream. Theirs is pretty good and leans towards the sweeter side. I ended up enjoying a mint chocolate chip sundae topped with chocolate sauce, rainbow sprinkles, and a cherry- my happiness. My kids (ages 1 and 3) shared a MAC & FRANK entrée which had mac and cheese and 2 sliced hotdogs. Though the older one wanted ice cream already, they both demolished it. Then they totally loved their MONSTER MASH SUNDAE with chocolate ice cream (choose any flavor), a Reese's peanut butter cup for ears, M&Ms for eyes, and maraschino cherry mouth. TERRIBLE....WORST Ever .. This local Friendly's is one of the nice locations. Staff is always attentive and friendly and it serves all the standard menu items. This spot also has a section to do ice cream to go as well as some to shop in their freezer. The serving sizes are always pretty big and they run specials during certain times. Have come for lunch and dinner here and it's always a pleasant experience. Definitely one of those nostalgic places and fun to stop by and order only ice cream! Whatever brings you here you are likely to have a good time. Very clean and nice location. It's quieter inside than your other local chain restaurants which makes it more enjoyable. I work with a special needs adults group, and we visited this Friendly's a couple of weeks ago on Wednesday 8/10/22. We had a large group of 12, and we could not have asked for better service!
