My mom decided she needed a new watch and got a nice little Timex. Only problem was that the band that it came with was way too big for her small Asian wrist. She obviously needed it to be adjusted. Being the filially pious Chinese son that I am, I decided to help her out by finding a place that could help shrink her band. Of course, I turned to yelp. The search turned up a good listing of places near me, but the reviews for Friendly Watch Repair were especially good. I took Mom there, and the watch tech, Darryl, was friendly as advertised. He also let us know that it would only be $5 to adjust the wristband! Wow, looks like the pandemic of inflation has failed to afflict Darryl's honest business. Whatever is inoculating his enterprise, it needs to be injected into our ailing economy asap. Darryl then worked on the band links patiently, removing them and letting my mom check the fit until she liked it. It took just a couple of tries and less then 10 minutes. My 4-year-old Seiko automatic was running about 7-8 minutes fast per day, even after I regulated it myself to run more slowly (I'm no expert, but I tinker), so I thought it must need a full service. That's what I asked for, and he took one look with his scope and said, "Oh, your hair spring is stuck. I can fix it now." He took about ten minutes, popped it on a time grapher, and he was done. Several days later, it's still keeping near perfect time (well within specification for this movement). He's an honest business person content to do good work for a fair price. Went on a weekday day to get a watch resized and and a battery change. The gentleman was kind, prices are good, and was pretty quick.

I called to get the back of my watch case put back on bc I already changed out the battery with a watch repair kit I bought on Amazon.com. when I talked to the guy abt putting it back on he said he will charge me $5 bc his machine is a $500 item. Well a vice grip type device comes with the kit, I tried to replace the back myself and I had success. I replaced the batteries of three watches very easy. Anyway the lie of the $500 device is not right. They shldnt tell lies to their potential customers. They are grimey. Here's a picture of the device that wld cost a dollar or so if you bought it by itself, plus it came with six other items in the kit. The kit costs $9. The batteries cost $3.50 for five. read more
