They are AMAZING. This is our favorite Chinese food joint because they are so nice and the food is incredibly fresh and full of flavor. I took home a menu so I can call in when we're getting the craving for their food. They are fast, only takes about 15-20 minutes until our order is ready to be picked up. They also do dine in. Whoa, this place has improved since it opened. I gave it 5 or so years before i went back and it is a winner now! You can now dine in and the staff backs up the restaurant name, reminds me of a place that went away years ago. Food is terrific, and thought the server spent the whole time conversing with another table, you can't be butt hurt...they might have been long time friends. I've been wanting to try a new place in Turlock and was in the mood for some Potstickers. I was a little skeptical when I walked in because there was literally nobody in the building. My partner noted boxes of Buldak ramen and premade food stacked up by the wall. Our food was ready in less than ten minutes. The potstickers were soggy and cold, the chicken was very tough and in a pool of sauce, and all of the food both my partner and I got was mediocre . We couldn't even cut into the chicken to split it in half. Very disappointing because we spent over $40 for two people with no drinks and feel like we should have just caved and gone to one of the 500 fast food places in Turlock. read more

This is the best Chinese food in Stanislaus County! We miss dining in but are thankful take out is still an option. Everything we have had has been amazing. We usually order Broccoli Beef, Pork Chowmein, Vegetable Chowmein, Pork Fried Rice and Potstickers. Everything has amazing flavor and the portions are huge! We also live about 30 minutes away and the food is still steaming hot when we get home (even if we don't eat it right away). The other night I changed up my order and got the Chicken w/ Mixed Vegetables over rice. I swapped the chicken fried rice for pork fried rice and it was only a $1 up charge. So worth it! You can also order online through Beyond Menu instead of waiting for their phone line not to be busy. You can also customize orders if you want. We get our fried rice without onions so it's great that we have that option because everything is made fresh! Staff are great! The restaurant called me after placing my order to let me know if I wanted the pork fried rice it would be a $1 charge so that was nice to know and be given the option to keep my order how it was or swap it back to the original. read more

Had to wait a little longer than expected but it's worth the wait!! The chow main was perfect and had great flavor . Walnut prawns were crispy and tasty . Pork fried rice was yummy oh can't forget about the sweet sour pork very crispy not soggy one bit , they even put the sauce separate if you order Togo so it's not soggy. Parking: Large private lot though there's plenty of businesses that it might be busy during lunch/dinner rush. Atmosphere/Service: Casual; polite & efficient service. COVID-19 Protocol: Masks, hand sanitizer by the register. NOTE: Restaurant has a website & orders can be placed online, though no menu pics for point of reference. It's been 1-1/2 years since I've been to Fresno to visit my aunt & cousins because of the COVID-19 lockdown. Taking a trip over Memorial Day weekend, it was a much needed trip to reconnect! :-) My cousin suggested going to her place for the remainder of our stay, so we bundled up my aunt & headed for Turlock on Saturday afternoon in anticipation of seeing the rest of the extended family the next day. In a rush to leave with other evening plans, she left us with Friendly House's menu & said they're super close & Mom likes this place. After seeing them off, I tried to access Yelp to look for food pics but couldn't get access. I forgot my phone has bad reception at my cousin's place & needed their WiFi to get online; I guess my nephew changed the password. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I decided to order at the restaurant where reception is likely better; it was a quickie 6-min. drive. Located on the northeast side of Geer Gardens Center, a packed center filled with restaurants & other businesses, Friendly House is the only Chinese restaurant in the busy plaza. I sat in the parking lot scrolling through Yelp pics to check what's appetizing; didn't find too images & most were unlabeled. :-| I ordered: HOUSE CHICKEN SALAD, SPICY SALTED FISH FILLET, BEEF WITH BROCCOLI, & CHICKEN PAN FRIED NOODLES, with a 30-min. window. It was too hot to sit in the car even though it was already in the evening so I strolled the plaza to see what else was there. There was a bakery next door, already closed for the day, that I would like to try their goodies; an Italian restaurant with tantalizing spices drifting out as I walked past; a busy sports bar on the south side. I noticed Ross across the street but they're new to the area & will be opening in the coming weeks. By the time I walked back, my order was ready & I was in & out in a jiffy. Once I got back, I divvied plates for my aunt & family. The salad seems standard & similar to my aunt's fav Chinese restaurant in Fresno except the the chicken is cut into strips instead of cubed, & the lemon dressing is creamy instead of a vinaigrette. I didn't care for the dressing because it was way too sweet so I only used a small spoon to dress the salad. The fish fillet was thinly battered & crispy while the fillet was tender, at least the nicer cutes were, the smaller cuts/end pieces were on the drier side. There was a mild spicy kick, though my daughter was able to eat some portions of the fish except parts that skewed a bit salty which enhanced the spiciness. We made jasmine rice at home so it cut through some of the saltiness when eating the fish with rice. The broccoli beef was a common staple in most Chinese menus, & their execution ranks up there... the beef was well-seasoned & evenly sliced so the meat was tender & flavorful, & the broccoli was cooked to a perfect al dente, softened while retaining its crunch, with just the right amount of sauce (I dislike a goopy dish that's ruined by too much sauce that also tends to make the plate saltier). And finally, the pan fried noodles... Friendly House exceeded my expectations since I erroneously assumed they wouldn't be able to pan fry (i e. liang mian huang -- 两面黄 -- its literal meaning is doubled-sided, technically it means golden brown) the noodles like the ubiquitous Chinese restaurants in Chinatown L.A. or SGV. When ordering chow mein (炒麵), I ask for the noodles to be 两面黄 so they're pan-fried on both sides until crisp & golden brown, then it's topped with a saucy veggie & protein (in our case, chicken) stir-fry. I liked that they separated the chicken topping so the sauce doesn't saturate the noodles to make them soggy, which defeats the purpose of the pan fry. I liked the topping but the flavor isn't on par to what I'm used to & can't put my finger on how it would be better. Is it seasoning? sauce? veggie texture? Hmmm... still, it's a solid dish. Portions were on par to generous, depending on the dish; we had quite a bit of leftovers for dinner the following night. Luckily, my cousin has an air fryer so the fish was almost as good as the night we ate. =) Friendly House is one of the better Chinese restaurants in Turlock that's closest in technique & execution to restaurants in Chinatown L.A. & SGV. Thanks to my cousin for this tip... if we're ever stranded at her place with my aunt (who prefers rice), this will be our go-to. Recommended: House Chicken Salad (but I didn't like the lemon dressing), Spicy Salted Fish Fillet, Beef with Broccoli, & Chicken Pan Fried Noodles. read more

I had a terrible experience at Pho7 Anh, we ended up leaving after not even being Acknowledged for over 20 minutes! We went here to Friendly House for the first time and it was the best decision we made! We were seated and they took our drive order right away. The host/waitress even showed my daughter how to use chop sticks. She served out soup for us and it was amazing!! highly recommend! On the way out my daughter saw the Budha at the front counter and was told a little history about it too! Loved the Atmosphere here! read more

I was craving Chinese food. I have been craving Chinese food for about a week. It seemed Friendly House kept popping up in my Yelp. Finally I decided to satisfy my cravings and with the help of Yelp, went to try Friendly House. So upon reviewing Yelp, I saw this place had very low reviews. I took it as it must have just opened. Normally I don't sway from my normal Chinese food joint in Hughson because let's be real, there is not really any good places here in Turlock that satisfies my standards. I have been to Chinese food places here in Turlock that pre-make their fried rice which means I can't get fried rice without onions. Yes the restaurants I speak of won't make me fried rice without onions. So we walked in and the place was empty. Very scary feeling for sure. I was wondering if we made the mistake to try the Friendly House. We decided to continue inside since we're now committed. Nice lady greeted us and sat us down. We looked over the menu which was typical of all Chinese food joints. I asked the nice lady if I can get the fried rice without onions and she said yes. Boom. Finally I can get fried rice in Turlock without onions. I ordered a lunch plate while the wife ordered a different lunch plate. The food came out fast. One issue though, my fried rice had green onions. Luckily the nice lady sprung into action and quickly swooped my plate and had the cook whip me another batch of fried rice without onions. My wife loved her food. I tried her orange chicken and this orange chicken actually had chicken inside unlike the commercial joint near Target. Won't say no names but it rhymes with Panda. I got the fried prawns, beef with vegetables and the fried rice. Everything on my plate was good. Everything from the beef to the vegetables. I have officially found a new place to satisfy my Chinese food cravings. Side note, I did see beer and wine in their fridge if you decide on an adult beverage. Thank you Friendly House. I stopped by during my lunch hour hoping to eat at a good Chinese place. It recently opened and has only a few reviews but most of them were really good reviews. Let me tell you....the food here is amazing. I got their no. 2 combination plate but I switched out the rice for chow mein. Their sweet and sour chicken is on my top best sweet and sour. Their chicken chow mein is perfect. Not under seasoned like other places. I ended up going the following week and again their food was amazing. I really recommend this place. Aside from their food, their staff is super nice. They were very attentive when we ate at the restaurant. Best Chinese Food in Turlock Now this space has had a few restaurants go through it but none of them have been as good as Friendly House. The food is superior and fresh, unlike some Chinese restaurants in town who shall remain nameless whose chow mein is made at the beginning of the week, refrigerated, heated up in the microwave, and by the end of the week tastes like the inside of a fridge smells. I don't have a picture of my food but their chow mein is DELICIOUS, prawn with vegetables are sooooo good i got them spicy and it added a kick, and fried rice is good too, although I got the egg rolls and they just tasted like they were expired or the vegetables in them were rotten, definitely wouldn't get those from here again everything else was really good. It was my first visit so I walked in and ordered take out House Chow Mein. I was impressed by the young lady helping me patiently with my first order. The restaurant seemed very clean and orderly. While I waited (maybe 5 minutes) for my order I noticed a lot of orders being picked up! Seems they do have a lot of regular customers by their comments to the young lady at the register.
