Found this gem inside the Chelsea Market. And I have to say it was a GREAT find. Such a nice restaurant. Really busy but was able to get a table in front. The servers were awesome, constantly coming by refilling water and asked how the food was and if we'd like anything else. I ordered the grilled chicken mozzarella pesto. Holy wow!!! Chelsea market was bumping on a friday afternoon. Wasnt sure what I wanted for lunch, but the all day breakfast at Friedmans caught my eye. There was a wait for a table with wait staff, but you could easily order to go (and they even have a bunch of seating for outdoor orders). Our 2 meals came out shockingly fast, 10 mins at most. My crab cakes eggs benny was a huge portion and packaged nicely. I loved the crisp of the potatoe pattie instead of a mushy eng muffin. I couldnt finish the whole dish but I loved it. Arriving to New York and fresh off of the train and after a walk along the highline, I found myself at Chelsea's market looking for breakfast. I decided to stop here because we would be able to sit and be served by a waiter in the menu is simple enough, but it does need to be scanned with your phones camera. There were options for lunch and breakfast. We chose the French toast and chocolate chip pancakes and ordered a side of hashbrowns and bacon to supplement our meal. Everything was quite good including the service since I never had an empty cup of coffee, thanks to our waitress. This is a quaint restaurant, so there is not enough room for many people to move around, which is why my chair was often bumped as the staff like the waitresses and waiters frequently bumped my chair moving back-and-forth. Went to Friedmans in the famous Chelsea marketplace on our NYC trip. Service was outstanding and the ambiance definitely had that New York vibe. This place super reminds of Saul's up in Berkeley but Friedmans had some menu items that they just don't serve in the Bay. Food was delicious and portions were definitely East Coast size. This Friedman's is inside Chelsea Market, so it can seem a bit hectic, but once we were sat at the banquette along the wall the market disappeared and we were in a nice diner-esque vibe. Food was delicious, which is the most important part. I had the grilled cheese with herbed fries and the side cup of tomato soup. Erika had the 2 Eggs with Style, 2 eggs sunny with their hash browns, homemade bread for toast and perfect bacon. The soup is bisque style, so it's smooth, but a tad sweet. A little not sauce cured that. Service was great, very attentive, but they were busy enough that they never lingered around the table. I am normally one to defend complaints about this by saying that's just how life works unfortunately, things evolve, things get more expensive. But I cannot in good conscience support $21 avocado toast before tax. Their neighbor, Los Tacos no. 1 has a long wait, it's not as cheap as standing tacos should be, however the product is concise, high quality, delicious, and worth the wait/price. I respect their business. Friedman's, on the other hand are really taking the piss out of everyone for basic food with basic ingredients. This is always a hotspot at Chelsea market, and I've been to another of their locations in the cities, so I'm familiar with the brand. My friend and I stopped through to have some brunch, and we were greeted very very nice man at the front who promptly seated us. I had a bit of an issue with the seating, because it was very close together - as in, if you're not a size 2, you're not going to be able to squeeze between tables easily. But thankfully it wasn't crowded, so we were able to have some elbow room. I really loved what I ordered, eggs were poached beautifully, however my friend got the hash, and unfortunately the pastrami was a bit fatty and the dish was just too soggy for her liking. When the dish came, it looks pleasing and cooked well. But when I start cutting the chicken, it looks very dry and overcooked. Add to that, the thigh when I cut the middle, it was not cooked well inside. They definitely the just put in a frozen chicken into the fryer. Let's go to the waffle. Under the chicken the color looks nice and seemed to be cooked right. Again, when I cut into to. I saw that the other side of it was burned and tasted like charcoal. If the cook failed on the dish, they should have not brought it out and could have just told me that they will be re-doing the dish. I could have waited.
