Pretty smoothies but they were super overpriced and very chunky... do you have a blender? My girls love smoothies and it was hot so they drank / chewed them, but seriously. If you are charging that price they should actually be blended. read more

Friedman's is where I had my first ever New York pastrami on rye. It was pretty good, but the meat was a tad bit dry for my liking. Service was great though! We were sat immediately and were in and out in about 35 minutes. A good spot if you're looking for quick New York style dining in Chelsea Market! read more

Found this gem inside the Chelsea Market. And I have to say it was a GREAT find. Such a nice restaurant. Really busy but was able to get a table in front. The servers were awesome, constantly coming by refilling water and asked how the food was and if we'd like anything else. I ordered the grilled chicken mozzarella pesto. Holy wow!!! It was fresh and delicious. The roasted red peppers were amazing. The flavor just made may mouth so happy. The fries were nice and flavorful as well. My friend ordered the Friedman Burger. He enjoyed his as well. There are so many spots in the Chelsea Market to eat. But I must say Friedman is a great choice! Check it out and let me know!! read more

Friedman's came to the rescue as we were looking to somehow seat a party of 6 in Chelsea Market, which was busier than the streets of time square during New Year's. Whether that's a good sign or not, they did a great job accommodating us, were very friendly and the food was all very good. Our pastrami orderers were very happy and my crab cake burger was delicious. Everyone really enjoyed the fries too. Portion sizes and prices were all very reasonable as well. I don't know if you are in Chelsea Market is you choose the restaurant or the restaurant chooses you, but if you end up at Friedman's you'll be well taken care of. Enjoy!! read more

Chelsea market was bumping on a friday afternoon. Wasnt sure what I wanted for lunch, but the all day breakfast at Friedmans caught my eye. There was a wait for a table with wait staff, but you could easily order to go (and they even have a bunch of seating for outdoor orders). Our 2 meals came out shockingly fast, 10 mins at most. My crab cakes eggs benny was a huge portion and packaged nicely. I loved the crisp of the potatoe pattie instead of a mushy eng muffin. I couldnt finish the whole dish but I loved it. My friend really enjoyed her sandwich, also a large portion. Great value for comfort food. Would 100% go back! read more

2nd time dining at a Friedman's. American food, short menu of cocktails though variety of food and beverages are available. Lovely staff. Nice space. I ordered the fish tacos and an iced tea with less ice. Big chunk of fish in each taco. I eventually ordered a cocktail, the Greyhound which has a hint of alcohol - perfect for day drinking. My friend ordered a turkey burger. He said it was delicious and juicy. Restroom is in the cellar. read more

Arriving to New York and fresh off of the train and after a walk along the highline, I found myself at Chelsea's market looking for breakfast. I decided to stop here because we would be able to sit and be served by a waiter in the menu is simple enough, but it does need to be scanned with your phones camera. There were options for lunch and breakfast. We chose the French toast and chocolate chip pancakes and ordered a side of hashbrowns and bacon to supplement our meal. Everything was quite good including the service since I never had an empty cup of coffee, thanks to our waitress. This is a quaint restaurant, so there is not enough room for many people to move around, which is why my chair was often bumped as the staff like the waitresses and waiters frequently bumped my chair moving back-and-forth. I would not recommend this place for a large parties however, takeout is an option for those of you who would like to take your meal someplace. read more

Went to Friedmans in the famous Chelsea marketplace on our NYC trip. Service was outstanding and the ambiance definitely had that New York vibe. This place super reminds of Saul's up in Berkeley but Friedmans had some menu items that they just don't serve in the Bay. Food was delicious and portions were definitely East Coast size. Next time I'm in NYC I'll be definitely finding my way back to this spot. read more

Chicken Swisswich. This is a delicious sandwich. Just amazing. Others got the chilaquiles which had too much green salsa and as a result were too spicy. Came Friday for lunch place was packed but service good. Tuna melt is still reliable. They changed the format of their fries from thin to thick cut but they are very good still. read more

Service was rude and dismissive, as if we were inconveniencing them. The pancakes were dry, leathery, and devoid of flavor. Additionally, for a stack of three fairly large pancakes we were given a pitifully small and woefully inadequate amount of syrup. read more

This Friedman's is inside Chelsea Market, so it can seem a bit hectic, but once we were sat at the banquette along the wall the market disappeared and we were in a nice diner-esque vibe. Food was delicious, which is the most important part. I had the grilled cheese with herbed fries and the side cup of tomato soup. Erika had the 2 Eggs with Style, 2 eggs sunny with their hash browns, homemade bread for toast and perfect bacon. The soup is bisque style, so it's smooth, but a tad sweet. A little not sauce cured that. Service was great, very attentive, but they were busy enough that they never lingered around the table. It is a well oiled machine, which is exactly what you want there. It's a great way to escape the madness of the market, at least for a little while. read more

Food was good, nothing blew my mind, but everything was good no complaints. This is a great stop inside Chelsea market if you're looking for classic American diner food but elevated. The real standout for me was our server, I think I remember her name was Julie. She was so patient and kind from start to finish and really made the experience wonderful. Personally if I was working in that busy of a tourist spot I'd lose my mind but Julie(?) was such a pro. Another person noticed from a far that the table had a slight wobble (which was so slight I barely noticed) and he came over and fixed it before we got our food. read more

The food is fine, but the prices are absolutely abhorrent even by touristy Chelsea Market standards. Changes happen, inflation happens... I am normally one to defend complaints about this by saying that's just how life works unfortunately, things evolve, things get more expensive. But I cannot in good conscience support $21 avocado toast before tax. Their neighbor, Los Tacos no. 1 has a long wait, it's not as cheap as standing tacos should be, however the product is concise, high quality, delicious, and worth the wait/price. I respect their business. Friedman's, on the other hand are really taking the piss out of everyone for basic food with basic ingredients. They represent everything wrong with this city, and I hope they go under soon. Skip it. read more

One of the best pastrami sandwiches I've ever had... I keep stealing bites from my husband... the pastrami's juicy flesh falls apart easily, and is well balanced with the delightfully tangy sauerkraut and light spread of mayo creaminess on rye bread Asian chicken salad is equally delicious with crunchy fried wontons I can't believe I didn't take photos, I must have been famished Very small restaurant but we did not have to wait much Service was prompt and friendly Can't wait to eat there again read more

Nice, small restaurant, but the staff was able to find a very comfortable space for us to be with our stroller, which we really appreciated. The staff was friendly, and our server was attentive. Our food was served efficiently without a long wait. I would say this is a safe spot to grab breakfast or lunch--nothing too special, but it's good and hits the spot. Overall, a pleasant experience, and we'd come back if we're in the area again. read more

While not fancy food, the service today was very good. They were busy and yet sat us right away. Our server came by often and made sure we always had water. I was impressed by the food and waiter. The hostess however - dark long hair green dress who seemed like a manager was SO rude. It was Thanksgiving so I get that they were busy, but that's never a reason to be unkind. Rolled her eyes when I asked a question and made faces when talking about customers openly to waitstaff. So hostile and unprofessional. Definitely won't be returning. read more

The place is slightly cramped so definitely not for big groups, but for sure one of the better dining options in Chelsea Market! I always worry if the chicken panini will be dry, but it was very tender and flavorful. The pancake stack was great as well. Service was prompt and efficient. This is always a hotspot at Chelsea market, and I've been to another of their locations in the cities, so I'm familiar with the brand. My friend and I stopped through to have some brunch, and we were greeted very very nice man at the front who promptly seated us. I had a bit of an issue with the seating, because it was very close together - as in, if you're not a size 2, you're not going to be able to squeeze between tables easily. But thankfully it wasn't crowded, so we were able to have some elbow room. I really loved what I ordered, eggs were poached beautifully, however my friend got the hash, and unfortunately the pastrami was a bit fatty and the dish was just too soggy for her liking. Overall still a decent and friendly spot to enjoy some food with friends or family! read more

March 17, 2023, about 10:30am. I went here choosing between different eating places inside Chelsea Market. Service was good, the staff is nice and accomodating. Food is the disappointment. I ordered chicken and waffle thinking that this dish will be a good brunch for me. Plus to that since I am craving for more carbs, I decided to get herb french fries. When the dish came, it looks pleasing and cooked well. But when I start cutting the chicken, it looks very dry and overcooked. Add to that, the thigh when I cut the middle, it was not cooked well inside. They definitely the just put in a frozen chicken into the fryer. Let's go to the waffle. Under the chicken the color looks nice and seemed to be cooked right. Again, when I cut into to. I saw that the other side of it was burned and tasted like charcoal. If the cook failed on the dish, they should have not brought it out and could have just told me that they will be re-doing the dish. I could have waited. I am contemplating on complaining outright but I don't want to create a commotion inside. And I paid $40+ for this disappointment. Looks can be really deceiving! read more

If you happen to be in Chelsea Market and need a sit down restaurant Friedmans is fine. Stick to the basics like grilled cheese and chicken sandwiches.
