It is a horrible and unprofessional place. They made me wait there for 2 hours only to then tell me that the doctor was busy and they would no longer see patients. After two hours and arriving, I asked why when I arrived they didn't tell me that there was a small possibility of not being seen and their excuse was that the doctor had just told them that no more and we are talking that this was at 12 noon and they close until the afternoon, there was still plenty of time. Days before, I tried to make an appointment and what they told me was to just go in the morning and they would see me there. Don't go to this place to waste time. I have been coming here for a lot of years. It has progressively gotten very bad. 1 and 2 hour wait times with an appointment is normal. Expect 3 to at least 4 with a walk in. I have seen both the dad and the son, as well as 3 others. The dad was very, very good. Son is good, but not as good as dad, and not running both places very well. After 15 years at the same eye doctor I tried this one and I have one statement to say: don't waste your time. They are way overpriced, trying to charge me extra fees that didn't seem right. For Example: At my first visit, they had me do a "contact lense fitting" that wasn't covered by my insurance for $140. And then, they literally gave me the same contacts I've been wearing for years. And by the way the doctor at the fitting spent maybe 2 minutes with me, tops. Just long enough to ask me if I like the contacts I've always had and to write the prescription. Fast forward to the next year I'm almost out of contacts and haven't had a chance to get in again (no reminder that I'm due, or that my prescription is about to expire) so I asked to purchase some contacts and then they inform me that my prescription just expired. (Less than two weeks prior) and I have to come in for another fitting which isn't covered by insurance for $140. No offer to give me a loaner pair of contacts to get me by, just a lecture about how my eyes may have changed and they have to do the fitting for safety reasons blah blah. I'm sorry but my eyes have not changed in years and you expect me to pay ANOTHER $140 just to give me the same contacts again? I understand that contact prescriptions expire after a year but any eye doctor I've ever had would've told me when I purchased one box of contacts right before my prescription expired that it was about to expire and so I could stock up and would've offered me some spares for purchase to buy until I can get my prescription updated. (Mind you it's not like it had been expired for even a month). My insurance is never going to cover an unnecessary medical procedure so I would be paying $140 every year! They aren't about the patient, have no customer service, and they are only about making a profit. (Side note- I did get a pair of glasses from them and their optical department staff were rude and horrible at explaining my options and insurance coverage. I decided to take my business elsewhere. I ended up going to a Walmart Vision center (same week they pulled this crap) and guess what!? I was given a new glasses AND contact prescription. (Yes same ones I've always had and same ones I was trying to get from Friedmans) They charged me $89 and I walked out with an updated prescription and a pair of contacts to last me until mine come in. Plus a full vision exam with a doctor who spent several minutes with me, making me feel cared for and respected. read more

Every year the whole family visits Dr. Friedman to upgrade our prescriptions. A few years back, the doctor's diligence and attention to detail discovered a problem with my wife's left eye retina. He immediately referred her to an specialist. This saved my wife's eye from irreversible degeneration as the specialist started a treatment that saved her vision. We will always be thankful for that. Kelly Lynch really excels at everything she does and makes the experience much more fun, and transparent when it comes to choose the right glasses, lenses, extras and breakdown of charges. You never know what to expect from an office in San Bernardino. The office staff are friendly and attentive. The doctor (Brandon Friedman) is very personable and knowledgeable. The Brandon Friedman is a decent optometrist. I actually like him. His staff however I can not stand. I have had problems with his office staff for years and today was the final straw for me. I went there for an appointment and I could not get through because of my insurance could not be located. I have had this same problem every time I go see him. Friedman Optometry first is close to drive to for me. For six years now after moving to San Bernardino I have had a yearly eye exam and update glass frames in their office. Their equipment before seeing the doctor is modern and they take pictures of the eyes for cataracts and compare current to past pictures to show any progress if there is a problem to keep track of. They have a complete selection of glass frames to select from when updating my new prescription with new frames. Everybody in the office is friendly and knowledgeable in their profession. A great place for your yearly exam and new glasses when required. read more

Friedman Optometry employs a friendly staff. That goes for the receptionist all the way to the people working with the lenses and frames. Each of them are friendly, professional, and efficient. I've dealt with Dr. Friedman (the father) and Dr. Huang. Friedman's a bit funnier; but both are clear, informative, friendly, and take care of you like you're part of their family. San Bernardino gets tons of knocks, but this optometrist is worth the trip. Their San Bernardino office is easy to find just south of the intersection of Waterman and Highland Boulevards. My only knock on the place is that they'll schedule you for a time; but you won't be called in for fifteen minutes. However, ALL doctors do that; so I'm not going to dock them a star. They're great at what they do; and their merchandise is fairly priced. read more

I have been going to Friedman Optometry since it was located in the Carousel Mall (that's a long time). Originally I went to dad, now I go to son. I can't believe the review posted here about Dr. Brandon yelling at them. He is the nicest doctor I have ever dealt with, very low key and even tempered. He explains everything very well. The office does get backed up sometimes, but what doctor's office doesn't? The attention and care I get I know he is giving everyone, and it's definitely worth the wait.
