I heard about here because I met Dr. Brandon Friedman a couple years ago at a networking event, and he was really nice! I finally decided to check it out especially because this office is in the same center as my work, making it very convenient for me. Scheduling my first visit and confirming that they accept my insurance was extremely easy and pleasant over the phone. The staff was very friendly over the phone and in person. Since Dr. Friedman isn't in on Mondays, I was scheduled with Dr. Huang, which was completely fine. He is so nice and helpful. Getting fitted for contact lenses and frames was a breeze, and I'm so glad I found this office. read more

Was looking for a local optometrist and found this on yelp. The vibe my wife and I felt upon entering the office was a business that wasn't patient centered, but more driven by revenue. The way our previous optometrist worked was we got our annual check up, received our prescription, and had the option of ordering glasses or contacts from them or elsewhere. With insurance, the cost for both of us was $40. This business practice was completely new. For service, they will up sale on additional service, and charge you for a contact exam, or fitting, and eye glass exam, fitting, separately. For the eye check up service, it cost us $190. For my contacts, I was charged $150 (with my eye insurance covering about $120). This is supposedly a package that includes the fitting, trials, and the contacts. This charge is apparently subject to change because if the trials don't fit well, another contacts will be used. I personally would rather just get my prescription and order my contacts through 1-800-contacts. Definitely more cost effective. But then again, this is a business and their business model. Sitting in the office now after over an hour after my scheduled 'follow up' appointment that they require. Waited over an hour to be seen for about 2 minutes for the optometrist to tell me what I already know. It was worth a shot, but we will definitely be making the drive to go back to our previous optometrist next year. read more

I wanted to try contacts for the first time and I also needed a new pair of prescription glasses. When I called Deer Creek Vision Center for an appointment, the receptionist was very nice and knowledgeable about my insurance (which was awesome because I wasn't). When I arrived for my appointment, I didn't have to wait, the doctor's assistant explained to me the process of the diagnostic testing and what each test would determine. Usually, when i have been to other optometrists, they just stick me in front of a contraption and barely tell me to "place chin there, place forehead there". Once we completed my exam the Doctor allowed me to try two different kinds of contacts and we did a training session of how to put them in and how to take them out, how to clean them, store them, etc. The assistant told me to call any time if I have any trouble and she'd be glad to help. Two weeks later I had my followup to see how my eyes were adjusting to the contacts. I told the Doctor that I thought they were fine but he thought my eyes might be getting a little dry after wearing the contacts for a few hours and suggested I try another brand. The fact that he didn't just take my word for it that they were fine makes me feel like they were really trying to take care of me. He was absolutely right about the new pair of contacts. They feel much better and are actually easier to put in. I would recommend Deer Creek Vision Center! read more

I love them! Dr. Friedman has been my optometrist for a couple of years now and he takes care of my whole family. His equipment is always clean and in working order and his staff is knowledgeable and kind. They have a pretty decent selection of glasses for adults and kids including sunglasses. The most important part is that he takes the time you need to have all your questions answered and explains things so a non-medical person can easily understand him. With all that, they do a great job sticking to the schedule! We'll be patients for as long as possible! read more

I found this center through my insurance. I loved the service it was very fast and efficient. Once in my room the doctor came in and sat down asked me about how I feel about my eyes. This was the first time an optometrist didn't disregard my symptoms though small he gave me great advice for eye care. I really felt he was concerned and the price for the glasses were awesome I was able to get them right then and there. 7-10 business day after ordering not bad. (Regarding the Haven location) The optometrist himself, Dr. Huang was his name I believe, was very friendly and helpful. The ladies at the front desk are another story. If I ask questions I feel I am getting scolded. When I asked about my contact bugging me I was reprimanded. Definitely did not feel welcomed. She seemed annoyed that I needed help. They also talk very loudly about their personal lives before helping customers. I also overheard some of their trash talking about another customer. Overall unprofessional. read more

Dr Friedman is super nice and very knowledgeable! The reception was okay. When I made the appointment the girl who booked me asked me my insurance info and set everything up, when I came in they asked me for my insurance info again and that was kind of annoying but whatever. After my appointment I didn't exactly get a breakdown of what I was paying for. I went in expecting to pay for an eye and contact lens exam but they kept talking about paying for glasses straight away and I was very apprehensive. Before when I had medi-cal I paid $45 for both an eye and contact lens exam, This time with vision insurance I ended up paying $90. I asked the girl the breakdown and she didn't really explain it properly and said she was printing me an itemized list but never gave it to me. I received an email asking about my experience and I responded to Dr. Friedman with what I mentioned above. He expressed his sincerest apologies and wanted to make sure my next visit (for my fitting) was exceptional as well. For my follow-up I had my eyes dilated and Dr. Friedman said it would be okay to put my contacts back in after waiting a while, i think it was like 10 min or so. Once the waiting period was up I went to put my contacts back in and they were so uncomfortable. My eyes were burning something fierce, I felt like Cyclops from X-Men when he's trying to figure out how to control the lasers shooting out of his eyes. Luckily I lived super close but on my drive home tears were coming out of my eyes like i couldn't control it. When I got home I couldnt get the contacts out of my eyes fast enough. After that experience and the reception not being completely clear about things, I don't think i'll be returning. I definitely respect Dr. Friedman and thought he was good, but the office failed to give me my prescription both times I was there. Ultimately, my prescription was e-mailed to me. If you go, make sure you know what you're paying for and how your insurance works so you can discuss it with the reception. read more

On Wednesday July 18, 2012 I had an eye exam and with my new prescription in hand I was looking for frames and lenses. I looked up local providers within my insurance network and found Deer Creek Vision Center to be a network provider. I headed over there around 5 p.m. There were three customers in the establishment of which two appeared to be waiting for an appointment and the third looking at frames. Keep in mind I went in to buy two pairs of frames and lenses. There was no greeting from the receptionist and not even an "i'll be with you in a moment." After not being acknowledged for 10 minutes I left. This had to be some of the worst customer service i've encountered. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. As it turned out, by chance, I went to Victoria Gardens and found Clear View Optometry where I was greeted by a busy staff the second I walked in the door. They were busy and unlike Deer Creek Vision Center's receptionist they were not to busy to acknowledge my presence, offer help and assistance, and told me they would be with me as soon as they were done with other customers. The level of service from Clear View and Deer Creek Vision was like Heaven and Hell with Clear View being Heaven. When I walked out of Clear View I ended up spending over $600 out of pocket. This amount does not include what the insurance company is going to pay for the frames and lenses. My purchasing power would have gone to Deer Creek Vision Center, but they demonstrated through their actions that they didn't want or need my business. I guess their profit margin must be so great that they can pick and choose when they want customers. Deer Creek's loss was Clear View's gain. The lesson here is to follow The Golden Rule and that is to treat others as you want to be treated. read more

I've been having problems with my vision for a few years now, and after an initial appointment with Dr. Huang, I found out that I have an eye disorder. To be honest, I was a little discouraged about it, but I was able to do research and became hopeful for my treatment appointment with Dr. Brandon Friedman. I went into my treatment appointment optimistic and left feeling more hope than ever. I was fitted for special contacts, and for the first time in years, the world looked brighter. My kids were so amazed at how I was able to read font sizes smaller than I have been able to read, AND DO SO WITHOUT SQUINTING! I am looking forward to when my rx comes in and I can be trained to put in my contacts. Also, Susie is wonderful. I had a hard time keeping my eyes open as she put in the contacts, and she was so patient and kind. I feel truly blessed that God brought me here! read more

Dr. Huang and Dr. Friedman are BOTH thorough, professional, friendly and informative. They show extreme care and the utmost conern for your eyes and your overall well being. They both take whatever time is necessary to give a complete exam, discuss all tests that were performed and very informative on best care moving forward, best practices for preventative eye care. NO pressure on sales or upselling from any of the staff. Friendly front desk, great suggestions, but without feeling like they are "car salesmen". Helpful with insurance questions, verifying coverage and scheduling appointments. Fast, convenient, easy to get into. Appear to strive for excellent customer service, call when your order is ready. So happy I found this office after years of being very unhappy with my previous location. Absolutely recommend them to anyone in the area that needs eye care. read more
