Mexican Hot Chocolate Cheesecake
May T.

Finally made it here for my birthday after having this spot bookmarked for years, and what an incredible experience it was! I love that they have a seasonal menu, that's what drew me in to begin with. I'm always up for trying new things, so I really appreciate that they switch it up like this. We arrived just as they had launched their Summer 2025 menu, and honestly, everything, from the cocktails to the apps, mains, and desserts, was amazing. Here's what we had: Appetizers: -Seared Ahi: For someone who's usually hesitant about raw fish, I'm so glad I went for it! It wasn't fishy at all; it was super fresh, and I loved pouring the ponzu sauce and pairing it with the avocado and crispy wonton chips. -Queso Fundido: Warm, gooey, with a little hint of spice from the peppers--so delicious, even though I'm usually not the biggest queso fan. -Heart of Palm Ceviche: This one wasn't for us, none of us really liked it, but hey, you win some, you lose some. Mains: -Creekstone Short Rib: I didn't order this, but everyone else at the table did, and I tried a bite. It was incredible, so tender, juicy, and soft, definitely what I'll be getting next time. -Chilean Seabass: Wow, this was so good. The lobster beurre blanc sauce, truffle corn parmesan risotto, spinach, and smoked tomatoes all came together perfectly. Such a warm, comforting dish. Dessert: -Pistachio Cheesecake: So rich and satisfying, definitely a favorite. -Lemon Tarts: Good, but didn't stand out as much as the others. -Mexican Hot Chocolate: Loved this! Warm, cozy, and the perfect sweet ending. The service was amazing; they answered all our questions, were extremely accommodating with our allergies and dietary restrictions, and even brought out a little birthday cake for me, which I really appreciated.

Excellent wine selection

Had the most perfect solo girl date at the bar Saturday night! Tasted a few wines and decided to go with a red blend. I was craving soup and the bartenders all sold me on the pozole and a salad. Incredible flavor especially with the little "fingerling" corn breads they brought to enjoy with it. It was such a lovely evening. I took home their Mexican chocolate cheesecake and it was delicious! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for date night, a special event or grabbing drinks with friends. They have a great wine selection and are a part of a restaurant group with other exceptional restaurants (Oso, Picasso Cafe, Other Room, etc). You might spend a fair amount on dinner but the experience is quality and fully worth it!

Frida Southwest is a fine dining experience perfect for special occasions or when you want to impress someone. The food is always exceptional with a nice variety on the menu. Service is always friendly and professional. The ambiance is romantic and comforting.

Shrimp & Lobster Cocktail appetizer was big and fresh. Make sure your table has at least 4 ppl before you order.

At the edge of Paseo at a corner of the street, inside is spacious and modern. We sat inside in the main dining but there's option to sit outside on the patio. Reservations are recommended. They were packed. They have a regular menu and a monthly feature at the table that they highly recommended, so we ordered mostly from there. Started out with a mocktail Like a Virgin, which was a cherry limeade with sours. Not impressed. The appetizer Shrimp & Lobster Cocktail (monthly feature) was humongous (more for like 4 ppl, maybe too much just for 2) and fresh, but the lobster was overcooked so a tad chewy. I wouldn't have minded the whole things being all shrimp, didn't feel like the lobster added to it. I ordered the Ora King Salmon (monthly feature), which was amazing. It was a balance of sweet and slightly sour notes. The cucumbers were just the right crunch. That sauce with the rice and salmon was so flavorful. Even the fried broccolini that at first glance didn't seem like much was great. Hubs got the Redfish Etouffee (reg menu), which we were a little less impressed with. The redfish itself and the okra were okay, but the fried crawfish was so battered, and when we removed the batter we could see how tiny the actual crawfish was. The risotto was just okay. Finally, that dessert Pavlova so well described in the monthly feature menu-card was nothing we thought it would be. The freeze-dried strawberries tasted like styrofoam, barely any taste of the strawberries, and the filling inside was just tasteless gooeyness. The pieces of mango and raspberry sauce and the ring of lime tartness sauce were good, but didn't go together with the freeze-dried strawberries. Maybe it's too avant-garde for us lol, but we did not like this dessert at all. It's a little pricey for high-end dining. For 2 people we paid a lil over $200 (including tip). Of course our waitress was more than amazing so we had to over-tip her. We would probably come back for special occasions and order off the monthly feature (except for the dessert).

Came here for brunch with some friends on a Saturday morning! We did make reservations before hand as it was 10 of us. I love the overall feel and design of this restaurant. The location is amazing in the paseo district. The mimosas were yummy! Along with the food. Our server was great! Loved her! I will definitely be back. The place was packed but didn't feel like we were.

WOW this place really blew me away. Visiting from out of town with a group (plus my local cousin), this place was the standout of our trip for all of us. I was immediately struck by the trendy but classy vibe and pleasantly surprised it wasn't busier given how much I enjoyed the food. To start, I'd also like to mention that the cocktails are exquisite. Some of our group was indecisive and the bar staff really pulled through with providing something enjoyable for them. I loved the old fashioned and when we later visited the adjoining bar before departing, I had a carrot based cocktail that knocked my socks off. Most importantly, however, I cannot overstate how much I enjoyed their Chilean Seabass. I know what you're thinking, "a great fish dish in Oklahoma??" I can assure you YES, it's one of the best I've had anywhere. Two of us ordered it and we were practically licking the plate clean. If you're prepared to spend a bit, I can assure you it's worth it. I sadly do not recall the name of our server (we dined here on 3/9), but she was extremely attentive and helpful. Much appreciated and compliments to the chef!

An excellent food experience. The eggrolls are hitters for Appetizer. Strong main options whether your dining for brunch or dinner. The service is good. The interior is very Spanish rustic chic. A wonderful bar if you need a quick sit for brunch.

Wanted to give an updated review on Frida since my last review was written over a year ago. I chalked my last experience up to a misunderstanding with the kitchen. I have been back to Frida a few times since then and I will say that the food, service and atmosphere in the restaurant is always consistent. Today a friend and I walked in without a reservation and luckily that had a table available in the back room "the Daley". I really love this back bar area, it's so nice and cozy, perfect for a date night or party. Our server, Dave was fantastic, attentive and very kind. Always making sure our drinks were filled. I loved my Mexican hot chocolate latte! It definitely had a kick but i will be back for another. Ordered my favorite appetizer which is the southwest spring rolls, still they are cooked to perfect, crispy, cheesy and paired with sauces for extra flavor. My friend also loved her breakfast tacos, she subbed them for shrimp instead of chorizo. Thank you Frida for a great brunch!

Really disappointed with our experience last night, at what's usually one of my most recommended restaurants in Okc. I recognize it was NYE, but it was no different than any other Friday or Saturday night crowd. We chose to sit at the bar. The hostesses were very polite as usual, and we were quickly seated. The bartenders were very pushy to order food- we hadn't even ordered drinks. So we ordered drinks, but my first drink was made wrong. The bar was only about half full. Our app was very good- had the empanadas. For our entree, we ordered the tamale trio ;which we've had before). It came out just warm and lacked any flavor- really a bad dish. We also ordered the lobster corn risotto...only 3 small pieces of lobster. Overall, a very disappointing experience especially on NYE.

Redfish with crawfish étouffée
Jenn C.

Service was incredible. The menu here is exactly what I thought being southwest cuisine. I tried the redfish with crawfish etouffee. It looked absolutely amazing when it came to the table but it was a little cold. My husband had the ribeye special and sadly it was a little disappointing. It was a thin piece of steak and for the price we were expecting a big thick juicy ribeye. This was our 2nd time visiting Frida's in OKC and still recommend it even though we didn't 100% love our meals. The espresso martini was delicious.

Jenn N.

Absolutely must-visit if you're in the OKC area. Beautiful atmosphere, fantastic and friendly staff, delicious drinks and food. Can't wait to return! The manager/owner was the sweetest, so welcoming, offered blankets on the patio, checked on us several times.

10/10 food, service, ambiance Patio is so nice right now!!! Food was so flavorful and beautifully plated Server was sweet and friendly and great recommendations! Fresh food sourced locally! Brunch was brunch'n I had the cinnamon roll to share I could eat that orange cream cheese glaze by itself it was so so rich and scrumptious!!!! Huge share with a friend. Large portions, chilaquiles were crispy with a nice spicy green sauce and shredded tender chicken. Yumm!!!! Queso fresco would be a nice addition bc I don't do cotija. Bloody Mary was nice and strong and did her job! Chicken and waffle was huge and I think the waffle is cornbread mixture type... lovely vibe for friends or lover to enjoy brunch! Definitely will be back for dinner! I want to try everything on the menu! Make reservations it was packed!

Shrimp & Grits
Davina I.

Delicious food in the paseo! I've tried a few things on the menu and they are so good. I love getting the shrimp and grits. Definitely make a reservation if you plan on coming on dinner on the weekend because it's usually full. It's perfect for groups- there's always birthday dinners happening and for date night. The waiters are always friendly and attentive.

YES! That’s the best way to go - especially for a Friday or Saturday night.

Don't see a wine list. Is there a good selection of wines?

This wine selection is decent... the bourbon and whiskey selection is better. In my opinion, and I'm a wine lover.

Is a reservation required or can you just show up and wait as well?

no reservation required

Yes, they did last January for our anniversary.

The patio space in the front was very secluded and lush, we had it entirely to ourselves. Our waitress was absolutely amazing. They even brought out a water bowl with ice for our pups. We loved our drinks. My espresso martini was boozy and not too sweet with a love whipped topping on top. Her Road to Hana was very refreshing and the pineapple tajin garnish hit the spot. Quick shout out to the dinner rolls and butter. I was starving so this held me over while our shareables came out. The Spicy Caesar was nice, loved the hit of heat that came with it. The Chicken Pepperjack Strudel, a signature dish, was really really good. Just wish it was warmer in the center but yea definitely order this. Juan's queso is not a typical queso dish. First, it's real cheese and it comes with a black bean puree, salsa verde, and avocado thinly sliced on top. We loved it, especially my wife. I came here with a large group of about 8 of us with a reservation made early on. We were seated in a nice, private room and had an overall very lovely experience! First of all, our server Trey was just spot on with all of his recommendations. He recommended the crab cakes, the halibut, and anything that came with the spicy shrimp risotto. Our table got crab cakes to start, and this was probably my favorite dish of the evening! The crab cake was large, fluffy, and full of lump crab topped with a spicy and delicious salsa verde and pico. For the entree I ordered the halibut which was cooked well, but the side of spicy shrimp risotto definitely stole the show (as Trey accurately predicted). Most of our party ordered this and everyone was pretty happy with it! For dessert, our table shared chocolate cake and the coconut creme pie. The chocolate cake was very rich and was probably one of the best chocolate cakes I've had, and I'm not a big chocolate cake person. I still definitely preferred the coconut creme pie, which I would order again next time! Our service was fantastic for the evening, and when Trey tells you to order something, trust him and do it!

Just don't go here…read more I've lived here for 5 years and by far the worst restaurant experience I have had in Oklahoma, and if you see my other reviews I'm pretty forgiving and tend to give spots the benefit of the doubt. This is a place worth an absolute flaming of a review.... But they already wasted enough of my time and energy today so I'll just summarize. No management on scene, no hostess, one server, two bartenders and a restaurant at 50% capacity on Mother's Day at 1 p.m. From walking in to having our orders taken, 30 minutes. 45 minutes later our order of roasted vegetable salad, steak eggs Benedict, and sourdough toast arrived. Salad was very well burnt but my mom was trying to be nice and didn't want to walk out. Eggs Benedict came out with two eggs boiled through, a hollandaise sauce with a sour smell and cold steak. I didn't eat it and no one seemed to notice, had it removed from my bill easy enough, but again zero F's given and no management showed daylight. Wife's toast actually arrived 5 minutes after the 'rest' of the food and the only thing hot and delicious. Toast here is $11, so there's that. No one cares here. From the health violations and poor food safety I saw in the kitchen, the multiple tables I witnessed sending back food to the multiple parties puzzled as to why they weren't being sat or once they were entirely ignored... it was so wildly bad I was embarrassed for everyone else having the same experience. Again, don't go.
