    the mam'zelle

I stumbled up this spot as I was aimlessly exploring the area. There wasn't much people sitting indoors because it seemed like everyone wanted to sit outside. I got a table by the window (to get fresh air) and people watch. The staff here is very nice and super welcoming. Fast service. Affordable price. I got the mam'zelle - 5 grain bread ham cooked in cloth, monay bechamel, emmental cheese, soft boiled egg and apple juice. The execution of the Croque monsieur was great. The egg was runny and bread was lightly toasted. All the flavors balanced out very well. I really enjoyed my French ham & cheese sandwich. Recommend!

Fantastic place in Paris. If you love croque Monsieur this is the place to go! It's absolutely delicious! The customer service is amazing even though my French is not the best they were great! The vibe is modern and chill. For the record, really nice washroom

My fiancé and I went to Fric Frac per the recommendation of food vloggers that we love to watch on YouTube. This restaurant did not disappoint! We've had Croque monsieur a few times on our trip to Paris already, but we found that Fric Frac offered way more unique sandwiches that reimagined the classic breakfast dish. Service was excellent. Our server was friendly and helpful, and the food came out fairly quickly. We ordered the house chips to share, and it came with a side of cucumber salad in creme fraiche. Both were great. I got Le Bandidito vegetarian, and it was amazing. The bread was toasted nicely, so it had a good crunch to it but held together well. The combo of goat cheese and mozzarella with the various veggies made for a filling sandwich. I was stuffed after I finished it. My fiancé ordered the mam'zelle, which was Fric Frac's take on a croque madame. He also ordered it with truffle sauce, and that's the way you get it done! I had some of the truffle sauce, and it was absolutely delightful. Love the earthy taste of truffle, but it wasn't overpowering.

This place is a must for anyone who wants to expand their croque horizons past the standard but especially vegetarians because they have a few on the menu. It's conveniently located next to the canal st.martin if you're in the neighborhood doing touristy shit. It's on the smaller size but there were plenty of tables available for an early lunch. The server was super helpful in explaining the concept and steering us in the right direction. We had recently been to a delicious bakery nearby, trying to squeeze every last ounce of Parisian delicacies in during our short stay, so we decided to split one of their croquets with eggplant, arugula, tomatoes, mozz and typically ham but it was omitted in the vegetarian version we ordered. The bread was seedy and was a perfect vehicle for the delicious flavors provided by this Sammie. They also served it with the most adorable little salad that definitely made me feel better about myself. They have many many other croque varieties including a croque of the month and I can only imagine how good some of the naughty ones are.

We walked in for lunch today and were greeted very kindly by, I think the owner, but I'm not sure. All of the staff were very attentive, very nice and helpful. The service was great, and all of the food that we had was very delicious. The sandwiches, although different from other croque monsieurs we've had, were outstanding. And the French toast with Nutella was unbelievably good!! Definitely recommend this restaurant & would definitely return!

The food was amazing and very tasty! The service was great as well. Server was very kind and had very good English. I really recommend this restaurant!!

We visited Fric Frac based off a recommendation from our Marais food tour guide. I love croque monsieur in the states and really wanted to try an authentic one in Paris, so we went for that reason. While we did enjoy our food - croque monsieur, frites, and cider - it was not a traditional croque monsieur with the bechamel and cheese on top, so I was a bit disappointed. The server was nice and attentive and the restaurant itself was decorated in a very hip way! We visited the location in the 18th arr near Sacre Coeur.

We came here on a Friday night with no reservations. I think they usually only accept reservations so we got lucky! The server and manager (I think) were very kind in helping us with the menu and helping connect us to the WiFi so we can order. The homemade lemonade was carbonated but was delicious. We also got the Le Titi and Lemam'zelle, and both were delicious!! It's definitely a little small inside but very personal with kind workers. Highly recommend coming with a reservation!

Very tasty and nice environment! The restaurant was well decorated inside, and the food arrived quickly. The price was decent for Paris and for the food. I had the croque mam'zelle, which was very tasty. Loved getting to try the traditional French dish here!

These sandwiches are curated, edible pieces of art made with love by the one and only Alain. It's easy to see why they're so popular. People love the sandwiches so much that his stall inside Marche' Des Efants Rouges can see lines lasting upwards of an hour or more. And people stay in the line. We lucked out and only had to wait about twenty minutes. I tell you, I'd wait all day if need be. I often dream of the sandwiches we had and can't wait to have them again. A picture is worth a thousand words and therefore, my photos can tell you everything you need to know about how good the sandwiches were. It makes me smile when I look at the pic of us with Alain. I had the corn beef, which was excellent, with caramalized onions and lettuce and tomato and the stronger of the two cheeses (which they let me taste test). Don't forget to specify if you want a crepe or a sandwich! I got the sandwich. The staff spoke great English but did speak to me in French (someone learning, which is always a confidence boost). There are a few tables inside, but I would suggest taking it to go in the parc near by. Don't forget to get a drink! I enjoyed the sparkling grapefruit juice. Sweet but very yummy.

Literally everything I tried was amazing and I tried quite a few things. And it's not just the vacation bias, since I did try other bakeries in the neighborhood that were very mediocre. Mille Feuille: Loved how the dry flaky layers contrasted the creamy layers. Éclairs au Chocolat: My French is weak so I thought I was getting vanilla cream filled, so the chocolate ganache was surprising. But a pleasant surprise as it was super rich, playing nicely against the choux shell. Canelés: Perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It tasted like there was some hint of alcohol flavoring inside, but I couldn't place it. Bonne Maman Poire Chocolat: Loved the soft pears against the brownie-like surrounding tart. Tartelette Framboise: Basically an excuse to get a ton of cream, which happens rest on a buttery shell and be covered in fresh raspberries. Cheese Cake: Nothing like New York cheesecake. It has the consistency of no-bake, but wasn't, since it tasted baked. So airy and light and delicious. Delise de Iles: One of the prettiest desserts with so many pretty colorful layers, including fluffy meringue on top. I especially liked how the fruit paste layer contrasted the creamy layer. Cherry Frangipane: A little dry on its own, but pairs well with coffee. The fragrant cooked cherries are the highlight. Pineapple Tartlet: Forget the French name, but it was a rather dry grainy tart (almost muffin-like) with candied pineapple on top. Another one that goes well with coffee. Cavette(?): Not sure if I got the spelling right, but this was basically like rectangular-shaped croissant dough with cream and chocolate in between. AMAZING! Perhaps my favorite breakfast treat. Croissant au Beurre: Simple, yet so amazing. Better than anything I've had in stateside. Baguette aux Lardons: How can you make a baguette better? Add crispy thick bacon bits and cheese! Sandwich Jambon et Fromage: My favorite of the simple baguette sandwiches I tried. A classic ham & cheese that the French somehow make amazing. Sandwich Brie Beurre: Very rich since you have creamy brie and butter! Sandwich Saucisson Cornichons: Each ingredient individually was fine, but I wasn't digging the combination. I should have probably stuck with having some sort of cheese. Baguette Traditional: Super crunchy and crispy outside, with a soft and airy center. Baguette Classique: Reminded me of a hoagie roll, but way fancier. All the good parts of baguette, but a slightly softer shell that manages to crunch a tad but it gets chewy.

We chatted up another patron to get the 411 on what was good since the menu was entirely in French and we couldn't figure out what most of the items were before heading to the counter to order. That's when things went downhill. They have this strange payment system where you have to exchange your cash for their coins, then you use their coins to pay for your food. Umm....what? No thanks, especially since everything has to be rounded up and you end up with extra coins you can't use except here. We figured out you could pay by credit card to bypass this system, but their machine managed to decline ALL of our credit cards. Shady, bc that basically forced us to use their coin thing. Anyway, we gave up and bounced. It just didn't seem worth the hassle.
